This is not the normal place where I take my pets, but my dog had a problem on Sunday and this place was open. On Sunday morning, my dog was not drinking. She was biting at the air, and was still eating, but not drinking. I brought her into Banfield and they were able to see her after a short wait. While no official diagnosis was given, they noticed a little swelling around the mouth and thought it might be that she got into a nest of spiders or bees. They gave me anti-biotics to mix in with her food, and told me to give it a few days. They also pushed the wellness plan, as it would give me a significant discount on the office visit and the medication (for the tests and screening it was $381.09 before, but came to $116.97 if I signed up for the wellness plan). I went ahead and signed up. I mixed in the food as directed, though my dog still would not drink water. I was giving her ice cubes, as she would chew those up and eat them. We were giving her her favorite foods mixed with the medicine. On Wednesday morning, she would not eat the medicine. She would scratch at her waterbowl and knock it over, but she would not eat or drink. Again she was biting at air. I took her in again. This time we had a different doctor. Again, no diagnosis was given. But this doctor thought that giving our dog a shot to hydrate her and a shot of steroids would bring her appetite back. She told us to give it a couple days. Our dogs appetite did not return. On Friday morning, our dog was having trouble breathing. I again brought her in. Again it was a different doctor. This doctor actually found that there was a bone lodged in our dogs throat. She was able to remove the bone, and our dog seemed much better (though she was still very dehydrated). This doctor wanted to see her the following day, but allowed her to come home with us. Our dog slept with us without incident, and we brought her in the next day (they wanted to put her on an IV to hydrate her). I got a call mid-day on Saturday that our dog had taken a turn for the worse. They did an x-ray, and saw a dark mass in her lungs indicative of a blood clot. As it turns out, steroids are known to cause blood clots in the lungs. They wanted us to euthanize her, but I couldnt trust them any more. We brought her home, and she died later that night. I am very thankful for the third doctor, and the care she showed for our dog, but I can not get over the two incorrect diagnosiss prior. I have no doubt that if the problem would have been caught on our first visit, we would still have our dog today. And to top it off, a dogs death is not reason to be able to cancel the Wellness Plan. I get to pay $25.95 a month to remind me of their incompetence. I will never take another pet there, and I hope you choose not to either.

First of all, I apologize for leaving a bad review. This review is not directly towards this location but it is intent towards Banfield Hospital and Wellness plan that they offer. I was a loyal customer of Banfield hospital for last 13 years and I did sign up for wellness plan for my pug since she was a puppy. Few Fridays ago I had to put my dog down because of her health. After putting her down, I went ahead to call customer care to cancel my wellness plan. Come to find out that I was still responsible for the balance of remaining of the term of wellness plan. I strongly believe that the death of the pet should be an exception of cancellation. I completely understand business point of view but it is ridiculous that I still have to pay for remaining of the term. Seems like Banfield don’t have any problems renewing customer’s wellness plan without the customers consent but when it comes to cancellation, in my case death of my dog, they still want to charge you till term is expired. I never once complained about their OVER PRICED vet charges. It is great that my dog was getting free shots every 6 months and get ‘checked’ (which I now question the quality of their exam since my dog was in perfect health condition with blood work that was done and 6 months later told she has liver cancer and they can’t do anything about it). I just wanted peace of mind for my dog and now I have to deal with this. If you are thinking about setting up a wellness plan, think again and explore different options. Don’t look at their brochures showing how much money you can save because you can get same service/treatment through different reputable vet at half of the cost and maybe other vet could have done something to save my put instead of advising me put my dog down since she only had 2 weeks to live. I wish I can take time back and gone through different vet. Too late to regret but I wish this message can go toward banfield corporate and hopefully other pet lovers can benefit from it. Lastly, this is just a reminder. Wellness plan is not insurance for dog. Wellness plan is ‘discount vet plan’ give your pet free shots every year and give your 10%-15% discounts on other services such as ultra sound, blood work, and limited surgeries.

Very unhappy with the care my pet received here. After adopting my kitten the shelter told me he only needed 2 more vaccines. When I went here they scheduled 4 or 5 more and spread them out so I had to pay for each visit plus the exam and the shots. I kept calling concerned because my cat was having trouble breathing at times, and they thought he was "reverse sneezing" or "hes just a kitten its normal" it was several months before they said its asthma and had me pay 180$ for an x ray to confirm what he just diagnosed within 1 minute. How come one vet is seeing him for months and months and given the same information and completely disregards it and the first time I see another vet and I tell him what has been happening he immediately says its ashtma and confirms it with an x ray. My cat had asthma for several months and I didnt know because these vets do not do a thorough job. They look at him for literally less than a minute barely paying attention and just try to push a monthly plan on me or more vaccines. Complete waste of time and money and I will be filing a complaint because they are absolutely ridiculous to not be able to catch that he has asthma when I called several times and took him in several times in a span of a few months complaining that he was having trouble breathing at times. They are playing with these animals lives by being so careless and negligent. UPDATE: I just went to another vet & the 300$ I spent at banfield for them to tell me has asthma was wrong. He doesnt have asthma he has a virus that causes respitory problems which they would know if they did their jobs. This place is a rip off and I will be filing a complaint
