*Dr. Martin is the only reason this place gets a 5 star review from me. If it weren’t for him being so nice, it would be a 1 star. I just got done with my first appointment with Soundview Vet. Its Saturday, so there was a bit of a wait due to emergency visits. I get it; mine isnt an emergency, so I can wait. They gave me a new patient form to fill out that was on laminated paper and had to be filled out with a marker. I didnt see a problem with this until the female receptionist made a snarky comment to the other male receptionist about my form. There were about 3 other dogs in their waiting room (which is pretty small to begin with), so I had to hold onto my dog pretty firmly while he whined the whole time. I knew I didnt fill it out beautifully; I have an 85lb nervous reactive dog in a 5x5 space. This is where the comment the receptionist made to the other receptionist stemmed from: "legible, huh?". This small comment ruined my experience here. If you want a form thats nearly written, give me a PEN and PAPER. Otherwise, dont expect a Picasso with an overused dry erase marker and a form that doesnt allow enough room for answers on certain questions. Hold onto a large dog that wants to sniff everything and fill out a form with a crayon on a sticky note. Tell me how you do. Here’s what gets me… If you’re wondering what I wrote, ask me. Do not make rude comments thinking I wont know its about my form. I am sitting right there. Now Im sure youre wondering how I knew it was about my form, well, the male receptionist had it in hand and brought it to my room before calling me in. When he got up, that’s when the female receptionist said “legible, huh?” with a sarcastic tone. This was so unprofessional. Having worked in retail for 4 years, I get that some customers deserve a verbal middle finger with sarcastic glitter sprinkled on top. But I was sitting there patiently while they ran a little late; no fuss or attitude from me. It may have been a small comment, but it was a rude one none the less. If the owner is reading this, I hope you are able to talk to your receptionists about leaving their snarky comments until after hours. I don’t care if you mock my form behind closed doors, but do not do it in front of your customer. The reason I was at Soundview was because my dog had gotten stitches and it looked like they ripped open. I was there to get them re-stitched, but when I saw Dr. Martin, he told me that it looks fine and that he wasn’t going to waste my time or money fixing something that wasn’t really broken. I really appreciated this and it made my visit quick. Since I only spoke to the dr with no actual work that was done, Dr. Martin walked me to the front desk and told them to just charge me for a brief exam. The male receptionist said (quickly) “We can’t change it in the computer once it’s entered”. I call BS on this, especially because as I waited to give them my card, the female receptionist said “it will be about 5 minutes for your bill to come up”. So in that 5 minutes, you’re telling me you reeeeally couldn’t change it to a brief exam? I spoke with Dr. Martin for maybe 15 minutes. Then again, you’ve already been rude to me, so why not keep it coming? I have had my last vet charge me for a follow up even when it was actually an exam, just because it was brief and no work was done. You can’t sit there and tell me that there’s no edit button on your screen when you’re adding and subtracting services when people check out. But, I’m not about to start an argument with people who clearly do not care about my experience. Regardless of their terrible receptionists, I enjoyed speaking with Dr. Martin and felt like he listened to my questions. I will be back because of my experience with the Dr. I gave them 5 stars only because Dr. Martin didn’t waste my time and answered my questions. My dog deserves a good vet, which is why I will keep them in mind when anything comes up. I just wish they treated their customers the way they treated the animals.

Ive been several times since moving to the area from Seattle. Dr. Hale is fantastic and takes a lot of time explaining what she is doing, what she is seeing, and what she ultimately recommends in terms of next steps. Ive also brought my pets to Dr. Martin. He, too, is very caring and patient in his approach. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars versus 5 stars is that the waiting area communication could use improvement. If theres a customer at the front desk who is being served, you naturally sit down because you have an animal with you and you want to give the customer some space. However, the reception doesnt acknowledge your presence and if youre not proactive and perch right up front as soon as that customer leaves, theyll continue to serve whoever comes up to their counter and arent aware of who is coming and going from the actual waiting area. Ill continue going there, as they treat my golden retriever like gold as well as my cat. They also believe an animal should never be in pain and approach pain management from different angles in order to meet the needs of each individual pet. Its top notch! The doctors are very knowledgeable and the front office are nice, too, but should work a bit on the service of the people coming in and leaving in order to ensure they are being fair with all (serving people in the order for which they arrive at the office versus whoever is more aggressive to reach the front desk).

I live 20 minutes away and still chose Soundview over any other vet that is closer. They saved my long time friends life when no other vet could and I have been going there ever since. The staff there are all amazing, kind, compassionate and remember you and your pets names like you are part of the Soundview family. The doctors call back to check on your pet and are always just a phone call away to listen to any worries or discuss options. The prices are very reasonable, they give a military discount and they dont nickle and dime you. The office is welcoming and warm and if you have a pet that is ill and must stay for a bit they have a room with a big leather sofa so that you can snuggle your pet; they understand healing is as much psychological as it is physical. If your pet needs blood work or shots you dont have to make an appointment and they dont charge you for a Dr.s visit. They go above and beyond to help you out in any way they can. Every one there is a true animal lover. The Dr.s sit on the floor to be at eye level with their patients and so your pet is not afraid, there is always a cookie and plenty of tummy rubs. They also fill medications for a very readonable price, or will fax the script to a place of your choosing. I cant recommend Soundview any higher, 5 stars isnt enough for these wonderful people.
