After getting a massive runaround with a previous vet, I reached out to Hawks Prairie Veterinary Hospital. Thankfully they were open on a holiday and were able to see me two days later. Reception was friendly, clear and professional, able to pull up my previous veterinary visits easily and needed no extra help on my end getting their records. She was very attentive in documenting exactly what I wanted and what I suspected was wrong with my animal. The facility is very large, spacious and clean and looks very very professional. Their equipment is up to date and the rooms are nice and clean with a lot of open space. Nice and calm and quiet with lots of room for people and their pets. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, attentive and made us feel very comfortable in our time of stress. They were very comfortable getting on our level and explaining very straight forward what our options were going ahead. Our Vet listened to us very carefully and went ahead with the procedures we requested as well as zeroing in on what wed explained was wrong with our animal, as well as explaining to us in very precise terms what we were looking at in terms of treatment. I am very impressed with the work I saw, more so upon seeing my animal, who was so sick she couldnt move for the past four days, now up and playing with her little brother, asking us for attention and being more alert and aware than Ive seen her. Even as I write this shes rubbing up against my leg like her usual self. I cannot thank this vet enough for listening to us and taking us seriously in our want to help our animal. Prices were fair and care credit is accepted for those who might not have the funds available for them. Bloodwork is done in house for those who might be interested. Ive switch to them as my primary and if asked I would urge others to do the same. Wonderful people who care very deeply about their jobs.

I brought my dog here for an exam and some vaccinations 2 weeks and 3 days ago. She is now showing severe signs of kennel cough. I called this facility today after listening to her hack after getting home. I was calling to first advise them that there may be an issue there with other dogs contracting it there. Then I inquired about getting some medication for her to get better. The rude lady on the phone advised me that I would need to pay an exam fee, pay for testing and pay for the medication. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! My dog is an inside dog, has not seen her litter mate in approximately 6 weeks and does not go to dog parks. The lady confirmed with me that it is approximately two weeks when symptoms start to show with kennel cough. Obviously from the date of my appointment that time frame is correct. It is pretty obvious to me that she contracted it there. All I wanted was some medication for her to get better. If you need to hear her cough I can get that done for you. Im NOT paying an exam fee for something she contracted THERE. To demand I do so with no compassion for my situation is ABSOLUTELY appalling and you should be ashamed of yourselves. So if your dog was here about 2 weeks ago please watch them closely. Ive never been treated so poorly or made to feel so stupid by someone who is supposed to be caring and compassionate about animals. All she kept saying is that I do not know that my dog contracted it there. No apologies or offer of any kind of help other than all this money that is supposed to come out of MY pocket for trusting my dogs well being in your facility. What an absolute disappointment of a buisness.

Ive been taking my animals here for a while but after my latest experience Ill be going elsewhere. Id brought my senior cat because of his eye (cloudy and discolored). Once he was examined I was told to come back once a week after that for treatment until it was healed properly. On the 2nd visit I was happy to hear his eye was doing well and I wouldnt have to come back every week but I had let them know he hadnt been eating and drinking very well, which I thought maybe was due to his "cone of shame." They never addressed it so I thought he would be ok and I took him home. Unfortunately, he got progressively worse so I called them and explained what was going on. I was instructed at this point to take my cat to an emergency clinic for services I knew I couldnt afford. At this point I took him to another vet and discovered I would have to put him down. Overall, I know not much could have been done but I wished they would have taken a little more time with my cat during our visits and I felt like they just didnt want to bother with me anymore towards the end.

I found Hawks Prairie in 2011 when I moved here from Portland and was seeking a geriatric specialist for my golden boy, Apollo. Dr. Kim Martin provided care to Jackson (and me as I was having to plan for the loss of my best friend). The clinic was wonderful from the receptionists to the techs to the vets! SInce the loss of Apollo I have adopted another rescue...my current loyal companion, Jackson. Due to my varied work schedule we have seen a variety of vets, most recently Dr. Lisa and everyone has been top notch! At this point, Im happy to take an appointment with any provider who is available (Jackson unfortunately struggles with ear infections, skin allergies, and anal gland infections) and I never worry as I know I can depend on being provided top care, and always options/recommendations to choose from in terms of treatment. They are always mindful to provide pricing information which allows me to make the best decision I can for my "baby" that fit into my budget. Thank-you for all of you care to my pets and me!

My dog Ginger became very ill she was a patient at a different vet hospital in Puyallup and when I tried to schedule with them they made it seem like it was a burden to get her in.I called another clinic in University Place and they were booked, so they told me to go to an ER vet ($$$$$). Then remembered my friend telling me about Hawks Prairie and I immediately called them it was 5pm and although it would take some time to get Ginger there they told me to bring her in immediately. I work in Seattle so my daughter rushed her in, and well with a heavy heart I had to lay my baby to rest. She was 14 years old. I just want to thank the staff and doctors for being there for me and Ginger. Money is tight right now but they helped me without making me feel ashamed. I will now be using them as my primary vet for my little boy. Thank you again for making this hard time a bit easier. There are no words that I can say to truly show my appreciation. Thank you. Sorry if this reads all jumbled up, I am still very emotional.

After having a horrible experience at another vet clinic in town, Hawks Prairie Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Kim Martin were recommended to me by a colleague at work. I couldnt ask for a more attentive, more genuinely caring vet clinic. My cat, whod been badly treated at another clinic, was pretty well traumatized and very upset about going to the vets. The atmosphere at the clinic is calm and welcoming, the staff and Dr. Martin are gentle and patient with the animals, not rushing and taking time with both the animals and the owners. I couldnt believe how my very stressed out cat took to Dr. Martin. She has a real gift. The staff is also top-notch. They return phone calls. Both the staff and Dr. Martin even follow-up with unprompted phone calls several days after visits to check on a course of treatment or the animals progress. This clinic is superb. I recommend Dr. Martin and Hawks Prairie Vet Hospital to everyone I can.
