Appalling Behavior--As a first time client, we rushed to this clinic, having already had records and paperwork completed months in advance for exactly this type of emergency, only to find they lost the records. That Saturday we called ahead to let them know we were coming. We entered with our border collie drenched in blood, and was told by reception, "Well have the tech take a look, but if the situation requires too much time, well have to send you to emergency clinic in Tacoma, because were all leaving in about an hour." Really?!? This is how you treat the animals you claim to care for? After having to return two days later with the same issue, which hadnt been addressed properly, the tech entered the room abruptly, and without addressing or introducing herself to our dog, now cowering, she GRABBED her muzzle, directly over her open wound. Our dog squealed, then whipped her head away and tried to bite her. Our border collie has never acted that way before. The tech, with apparently 30 years of experience, did not understand why I was appalled at her abrasive and foolish approach toward a dog--an injured dog, at that. All of the above was discussed with Dr. Pope, who seemed as though she would like to care, but cant figure out what to do about it.

We have been coming to Purdy Veterinary for 9 years with our 2 cats and have always had a great experience. The vets are thorough in their examinations, provide information in an easy to understand manner and are always very compassionate. We never have trouble getting an appointment, plus the easy to use online system works great both to schedule appointments and receive reminders! When one of our cats had a bad reaction to a vaccine and we had to have outside lab tests done, the doctor who personally viewed the lab slides called me to explain how everything was benign and ok and gave me thorough instructions on how to care for our boy until he got better - his compassion and genuine concern for our pet was obvious. On a fun note, we love how the cats get their picture taken when they come to visit and get to be famous on Facebook! I love to see all the other pets that come to the clinic as well when their photos are posted. Purdy Veterinary is a great clinic!

Ben and I have been taking our pets to Purdy Vet hospital for many years. I love how professional the staff is, they are very efficient and are tender with our pets. The office staff is very efficient and friendly. I feel confident in our Doctor Mindy. She is sensitive with our pets and direct and decisive with her care. She was kind enough to be honest with me when I had to make a decision about letting our Taffy go. Sarah has been a savior when I need info or help with getting our pets ready to travel to Kauai. She is informed and efficient and patient with me. The new office is beautiful, I would love to steal some ideas for my home. Cant compare prices because I havent wanted to look elsewhere. I just wish I could transport them to Kauai. Whenever I need help with questioning vet services on Kauai I know I can depend on Purdy Vet Clinic. Thanks so much everyone!

Great experience! They were able to fit me in with my dog for a neuter without seeing him beforehand. I had all my paperwork for every visit from other vets (and up to date) and had called other vets to see about appointments. Other places required another exam, though he had just seen a doctor a few weeks prior. It just seemed like another exam fee to say he was healthy. Our initial vet only performed neutering one day a week and had to cancel our appointment (which had been scheduled a month in advance) because of scheduling problems. Luckily Purdy had an opening for the day he was supposed to go in at the other vet. Also the day after the procedure he was bleeding a little bit. I called them that day and they were able to see him without an appointment and help us out. Thank you so much for your great service!

Went there to neuter my 2 male 16 week old kittens. Once I walked through that door @ 8am to drop them off, I got nothing but smiles & help. Check in was a breeze. They took them in a exam room & let them have free run in there which was cool. The receptionist let them explore & get used to the smells in the room. The tech came in & did the same this while she complimented my cats. Drop off & pickup were simple , efficent & quick. The let me borrow a carrier because my cats started to fight. The tech explained to me why these things would happen. Overall just a great expierence. Very resonable in price. I have a friend that works at another vet & she said that was a great price. Other places were $50-$100 more for what I needed. Office very clean!

I have just moved to the area and had not found a new Vet. as yet. I had to take my cat to the hospital as he had torn his skin under his arm and I didnt have an appt. I chose Purdy by word of mouth. So my surprise, they took us right in, cleaned him up and had him out of there in a couple of hrs. I would say they did a very good job because my cat is a total "scardy-cat" and is afraid of all people except me and when being handled buy others is extremely dangerous. He doesnt mean to hurt others, its more a fight or flight response but that doesnt make any difference to the person being ripped up by him! Everyone was very helpful and nice and I would certainly take any of my furry babies to them in the future.

We have used Purdy Veterinary Hospital for several years now (when we got a dog after many years of not having a dog) and have always been pleased with the attention our dog receives and the professionalism of each vet, the veterinary staff, and the office staff. Our dog is always welcomed and put at ease. With the Cavalier King Charles that we have now, we have Dr. Josh as his primary vet. Dr. Josh takes the time to thoroughly check-over our dog when we bring him in and doesnt appear rushed (even if he is very busy). Dr. Josh is very gentle with him, which helps the whole experience for our dog and for us. We would definitely recommend (and have) Purdy Veterinary Hospital.

Yesterday, 11/30/13, we had to call for an emergency appointment. Within minutes we were on our way. They had a room ready for us when we arrived which I was very thankful for. Our beloved Miss Maddie was at the end of her life and both my husband and I were extremely upset. Dr. Josh was very kind and compassionate. We were not rushed and were able to spend as much time with Maddie as we wanted. The ladies in reception were very kind also. We have used Purdy Vet for several years now and have never had a bad experience. They always give our Shelties the best of care.

Our 10 yr old male kitty, Church, had the dreaded bladder crystals (on a Friday, no less) I brought him in, and, after an overnight stay, and a new diet regimen, he has a new lease on life! Thank you, thank you, thank you! * A note to others with the same issues- I looked online to see if I could find a better deal on his new food (Royal Canin Urinary SO) the prices are pretty much in line with the vets price, so I would recommend just buying it from them- PLUS if you get it online, you cant be sure of the expiration date of the product you get.
