In May of 2017 I took my son to have a visual efficiency examination which was completed by Dr. Lynott. It felt rushed and even during the exam she said something to the effect and she was going out of order and had skipped over something. Very little was explained during the exam. It would have been helpful to be given some basic explanation as to what was being checked for. I was not expecting a full analysis on the spot however as part of good customer service and selling their services the value of taking the time to talk through the exam with a new client is invaluable. It shows a new client that the staff cares about the individual. We received the Evaluation report about 3-5 business days later along with a contract and polices. Within days, I contacted my insurance as directed by the paperwork. I reached out to their office and asked if I was able to make an appointment with a vision therapist. I was brushed off and told she will get back to me. I did not hear anything until August 1st. A woman called on August 1, 2017. She said she was calling from Dr. Boas office and had an opening on Wednesday evenings. Did I want the spot? I was taken a back as I would have expected more courtesy. Something inline with identifying herself by name and that she was the vision therapist who would be helping my son with the weaknesses found from his examination. Mentioning something from his report, in layman’s terms, and some exercises or tools that could be used to help strengthen this weakness would definitely have helped. I got nothing even close. With hesitation, I responded by explaining that Ty had his exam in May and I hadn’t heard anything for so long I didn’t know what was going on. She quickly cut me off and said, “I am doing the best I can. Do you want the spot?” WOW I really had a hard time going forward but treaded gently on… I explained that when I brought my son in for the exam in May we were rushed through. Upon arrival, I went to the bathroom and my son was taken back into the room without me. I didn’t know where he was when I came back to the waiting area and asked at the front desk. I was then escorted back. The woman on the phone said again, “I am doing the best I can, do you want to schedule Julia for one of the openings on Wednesday evening?” I paused and asked, “Who is Julia?” She responded, “I meant Charlotte.” I paused again and asked, “Who is Charlotte?” The woman responded haggardly, “I am doing the best I can. I don’t have your files here they are in another room.” I let her know it was my son and what was his name. I asked who I was speaking to and she started by saying she was the vision therapist and seemed reluctant to state her name but she did finally identify herself as Dawn. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to. She stated she would put a note on Dr Boas desk. After waiting 4 days I wrote a letter and hand delivered it to the office. I have never heard back. The approximate cost is $1000 for every 12 visits. This is all out of pocket. This potentially is $3000 and with it comes poor customer service. There lies the problem. How do I justify paying this while being treated poorly? When is someone going to care enough to TAKE THE TIME to explain the evaluation results? At this time, I am disappointed and upset that I spent over $200 out of pocket in May for an evaluation that I can’t take to another office and if I do bring my son to their office I am not sure how he and I will be treated. At this point, I have lost confidence in their staff and services. If you are considering vision therapy at this time I would recommend another Dr’s office. This office needs more time to train their staff in customer service and learn how to handle a patients’ concerns.

Dr Boas is a compassionate person and is very thorough. He was recommended to me by a friend and during the examination I explained that I had had cataract surgery the year before and since then I could not see far away with the glasses that were prescribed by my optometrist. Dr. Boas took his time when examining my eyes and showed me his Rx and also my optometrists Rx of the glasses I was wearing. There was definitely a difference. Before I left the exam room, Dr. Boas said that I would be able to see very well with the new lenses he was prescribing for me. He was right. I could see close up computer work and also someone on a stage. IleneG

I had my new patient visit yesterday and I was very impressed. I have worked in the medical field for many years and have worked for an eye doctor in the past so I tend to have high standards when it comes to health professionals. Both technicians, Melissa and Cindy were attentive and kind. Donna helped me pick out glasses which I was dreading and she made it fast and painless. Dr. Mark Boas was knowledgeable, friendly and fast. The staff took the time to explain how to best utilize my vision benefits which I have not had the luxury of having for many years. Overall fantastic experience from beginning to end!

My four children, my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Boas for years. They are the most caring, competent people to work with! I highly recommend their entire office. Top notch!
