Customer and Patient Service? Guess again– nonexistent, even for long standing patients. I went for my annual skin screening at 0830 on Friday morning and was greeted by two rude, arrogant and condescending front desk clerks. In all fairness, one was much worse than the other but if I were the owner of this practice, I’d spend some time and effort offering training in Customer Service or I’d look elsewhere for more considerate, educated customer facing personnel, after all, this is a (health) care facility. When I arrived, I was informed there was no referral from my Primary Care Physician. I indicated this was not true as I had verified the referral, the day prior. In short, there was a mix up with my referral, as my Primary Care Physician wrote the script for Dermatology Specialists instead of Dermatology Associates (both of which are located in Phoenixville, PA). While this error was caused by my HMO PCP, the way this practice handled the situation and the subsequent treatment I received from the front desk clerks was down-right deplorable. The worst part is Dr. Sharon Zellis stood by and watched (at times, even contributed) as the clerks described how I would be denied service because of this issue. I explained how this was a minor issue and could be easily resolved by my PCPs office, once they opened at 0900. No suggestions were offered to mitigate the situation. As such, my only option was to leave, without treatment, after taking the morning off from work to sit in this chaotic office and be treated with complete disrespect. Later that day, I verified with my PCP that it’s not unusual for errors to occur with referrals and typically health care facilities have ways to mitigate these situations while providing no aggravation or inconvenience to their patients (e.g. the desk clerk could have offered to call my PCP). This was not the case for Dr. Sharon Zellis and the illustrious front desk staff at Phoenixville Valley Forge Dermatology Associates located at 1260 Valley Forge Rd #101, Phoenixville, PA 19460. All I can say is I’ve been coming to this practice for at least 8 years and to be denied service because of a PCP referral error is unimaginable, extremely inconvenient and otherwise reprehensible. This practice is living in the stone-ages of customer service and patient care. If there were more Dermatology offices in the area, this place may already be out of business. Get it together team and don’t forget why you exist (hint, hint – it’s your patients/customers).

As a patient of Phoenixville Valley Forge Dermatology, I have had a truly professional and caring experience, beginning with the front office staff, the medical assistants, and the doctors. Unlike many medical practices, I rarely sit in the reception area waiting for my scheduled appointment to see the doctor. The medical assistants have always been friendly and helpful. Before beginning my exam, Dr. Zellis always takes time to ask me if I have any concerns or questions, and most importantly, she re-examines previous biopsy sites. Her exams are thorough and complete, leaving me feeling confident that nothing has been overlooked. My concerns are addressed in a professional and courteous manner, and I leave there knowing that my health, welfare, and skin are in excellent hands, thus giving me great peace of mind. That is priceless! Thank you, Dr. Zellis and staff at PVFD!

As my father was a new patient, first appt was 2 months away. Due to bleeding and call by family doctor got moved to 4 day wait. Staff was nice and helpful. Dr. Motel has good bedside manners, explained situation clearly and seemed like a good doc. Highly recommend. Tom T. in Audubon.

The staff is condescending and unprofessional. They talk like truck drivers, not health care associates.
