I have seen this doctor only twice but I am very disappointed. I suffer from Fibromyalgia & was hoping to get a "rescue" medication for when my pain is severe, nope nothing the first appointment. She was only in the room about 5 minutes on both visits. I at lease expected her to spend a little time with me on my first visit. Basically, she sent in someone else (idk if it was an associate, inter, or who it was) who asked me several question, checked me physically (tender points) & he even confirmed that yes, I have Fibromyalgia. He recommended Neurontin be added to the Cymbalta my PCP prescribed for my Major Depressive Disorder since it is also known to help fibro pain. But when Dr. Bernstein came in, she said I had to wait until I was on Cymbalta for at least 3 weeks before prescribing anything else. Would not even prescribe anything for my pain at all. Even tho I was at a level 8 on the pain scale! I was told about the fibro group & she walked out. When I was checking out, I was given paper work to be "evaluated" for the group & given my next appointment date. After being on the Cymbalta for 3 weeks, I called in to ask about getting the Neurontin added as I was getting no relief. Had to leave a message. Got called back the next day?! Nurse said the doctor wanted me to give the Cymbalta a little longer. So I called my PCP & she upped my dosage of Cymbalta (my depression wasnt getting better either) to 120mg a day. I was still in so much pain that I called Dr Bernsteins office back again, of course had to leave a message & didnt get called back to the next day. Was advised the doctor doesnt like to prescribe anything over the phone & that her notes said she planned on putting me on Lyrica at my next appointment. So I just deal with pain until my next appointment. Again, someone else came in first & we talked about my pain & how she was going to prescribe Lyrica & he agreed it would be a good idea. Dr Bernstein comes in & says she wants me on Neurontin. Also tried to ask about injections for my back & was told she doesnt recommend even tho I told her about my degenerating discs. Basically said no & left room. She was in the room less than 5 minutes! Im trying to find a different doctor who is closer to me, be friendlier, give me the time of day to listen to my complaints & willing to try back injections.

If i could. Id give dr Berstein a 0 . She accused me of being a addict/drug dealer. Ran a background check on me assumed i was a person that wasnt me. It was a asian girl. Im not asian. Obviously by my married named not my maiden name. The record i came up with was the same as a girl who was not me & the record she was in prison for the same things she accused me of. 15 yrs before hand. Told my other drs i was addict/dealer. Again not me. Started a bunch of trouble. Then lied & said she didnt do it .i had it on paper . her staff lied for her. Said it was against the law theyd never do that. She judges sick ppl. Acts like everyones a addict. Is rude. No bedside manner. Plus her dr coat was so dirt it made me sick. Was examining my clothes like i stole them. Sorry i can afford to dress in designer jeans. Did the same thing to a friend recentky told him to go to detox for a non existant addiction then rehab then shed write him pain meds. A petson whos never been on pain meds but apparently addicted . had chronic pain for yrs & is now only looking to be treated.the worst dr ever shoukdnt be licensed to practice. I woukdnt send a dig to her. Actually my vet treats my dog eyter then she treats ppl and hes on pain killers. Im sure she refise him to and call him a addict thats the kind of person she is.

My dad went here for pain management. Not likely. He had several back surgeries, including having several metal rods in his back and a history of requiring high dosage pain pills to manage pain. Dr. prescribed Lyrica and instructed him to give it time to start working but in the meantime, he spent every waking moment in agony. A nerve blocker was prescribed and when we went in to have it done, we were told there was no way for it to be done because the metal rods were in the way. They took Xrays, and had access to all of his medical reports. How did Bernstein NOT KNOW that his rods would be in the way? She was also unavailable to provide an alternative to supplement the Lyrica (Which is not working yet). If you are in severe pain, and youre coming here to manage your pain - you will likely not find immediate relief.

Fibromyalgia Referral to Integrated Pain Rehabilitation Program Team for Evals and got 3 appointment set same day. Mercy would be closer than Centre Commons tho. Given Pamphlet Program & days, hrs. involved to commit. Fibromyalgia Treating doctors hard to find. Additional referral made to alternate Spinal pain Specialist along with her. Bernstein did not address Medical Intervention if any or medications changes as far as her part of Team.

I think she is a terrible doctor. You spend more time with the assistant than her, EVERY TIME. She is in and out of the room within 3-5 minutes. "OH, (so and so), said you still about the same. I WANT you to do physical therapy, (even though you gone through it 4 times and your still the same), and also talk to group psychology. Maybe she should try!!

Horrible doctor, cares nothing for the patient, only about her "employer". Go elsewhere.
