This is a very basic veterinary office, a true old-fashioned country vet experience. I have been taking my dogs to Betsy since 1994, and she has given me great care and diagnostics at an honest price. If you want a vet who will require bloodwork on a young healthy dog before a dental or will lard up your bill with all manner of things "just to be sure", this is not the vet for you. The office is not fancy, appointment times are approximate, and its rather like stepping back in time to Dr. Herriots day but every dog of mine shes done surgery on has bounced back fast, shes willing to listen to you and make you a partner in your pets care, and she is an excellent diagnostician. She will refer you on to a specialist if she feels she cannot provide the level of expertise for more complicated surgeries or treatments, instead of mucking around and messing things up, which is not true of all vets as I have had some who would attempt to deal with orthopedic injuries without the requisite training and thereby permanently cripple a dog who might otherwise have been returned to normal function. This is not the vet for everyone, but I trust Dr. Betsy to always do right by my dogs and give me the best basic care and needed surgeries for an honest price. I am a very experienced second-generation breeder with multiple dogs of all ages plus some client dogs in for training and I know I can count on her to be a partner in their care and well-being and she shows trust in my own level of expertise and is extremely breeder-friendly. I know a number of very well-known longtime breeders trust her as well. I will be sad when I can no longer go to her with my dogs. I have no idea where I will EVER find another vet as easy to work with and accommodating.
