This review isnt for Doctors Express in general but specifically for Dr. Reed. Ive visited this location off and on for a few years now. I have always had a good experience here except with Dr. Reed. Dr. Reed spent less than two minutes (probably closer to one) with me, did not seem inclined to listen to me at all (not like I was drug-seeking, I came hoping for a referral or opinion on a knee injury) before he told me I didnt need a referral to go to an orthopedic ER clinic. He spent as much time talking about me wearing flip flops as he did talking about my knee (tried to explain why I was wearing flipflops but I was interrupted). Interrupted me so much that I had to interrupt him to be able to get anything in at all other than saying it was a knee injury. I mentioned that there is an extreme family history of meniscus cartilage tears in the knee and he literally did not respond to it, just said he thought it was probably a patellar tracking issue. Had to interrupt to mention specific details about what it was doing (he didnt ask for any of those details...basic stuff like, does the knee lock, does it buckle, does it crack or pop...he asked none of those before making up his mind). Did not want to see me walk on it...would not even give me a referral anywhere. The only other time I saw him was for a vaccine. He struck me as having a poor patient-doctor manner but I figured, hes busy, its just a vaccination, not much to be said. My opinion has been revised. Somehow feel like it might have been because Im a young woman. I am an extremely polite person and pretty meek person so it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review but can only imagine how many other people he brushes off who dont say anything, and my husband was told today he is the doctor most frequently there, so beware.

I had to take my son to an urgent care in Columbia SC on March 10, 2014. He was traveling with his college over spring break and his back began to spasm to the point he was unable to walk. I drove from East Tennessee to Columbia SC to pick him up where his team was currently spending the night. I contacted my insurance company (BCBS) to find an urgent care they work with so I could use my insurance. They suggested "Doctors Express". I took my son there expecting excellent care and all was well with all the employees until we got in the room to see the doctor. Dr. Michael Reed was the physician who attended to my son. I have past experience working in hospital management as well as 20 years of pastoral experience in a church of almost 2,000 members. I understand the importance of treating people with respect. Dr. Reed presented us with one of the most disrespectful encounters I have ever had with a physician of any kind. He acted as if he did not believe my sons back was really hurting him. As my son lay on the exam table, he moved his leg up toward his chest rapidly causing my son to yell out in pain. I am anything but a violent person, but for my sons sake, I stood and was about to remove Dr. Reeds hands from my son. I honestly believe he thought we were there to try and get drugs or something. That is the only thing I can think of that would explain the way he seemed to interrogate us about why we were there and his insensitivity to my sons pain. The truth is, my son could have had serious back injury, and for Dr. Reed to handle my son in the way he did, seemed totally unprofessional, insensitive and incompetent. If you need medical care, dont get it from Dr. Reed!

Went because of an allergic reaction. The place was empty when I got there. Someone came in no less than ten minutes behind me and they were seen before me. I waited in the waiting room for another ten minutes or so before I was seen. After some initial information I was then left in the exam room to await the doctor who would be there shortly. I sat there for another forty minutes, with the lights going off every three minutes, they were on a motion timer. The doctor came in and casually sat on the table across from me. I told him what was wrong and he immediately told me that I just needed to take allergy medicine even though I was clearly having an allergic reaction. He told me that Id have to see an allergist to know what Im allergic to. I asked for a recommendation and he told me he didnt have any recommendations. A quick google search on my phone brought up several allergists in the area. The doctor was in and out in less than five minutes. Not worth my time to spend 90 dollars just to sit around for over an hour and get nothing for it. The receptionist was nice. So 3 stars.

I came here because I was feeling under the weather...let me start of by saying, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Maria. She offered me some water & assured me Id be called up after a few minutes. Young lady made me feel right at home as we chatted for a little while she checked me in. Friendliest receptionist Ive encountered at an urgent care office. About 5 minutes later, a gentleman took my blood pressure and asked why I was there, along with walking me to the room where the doctor would be seeing me. Again, friendly friendly friendly! Dr. Rowson was my doctor and again AMAZING EXPERIENCE. He took good care of me & I am feeling much better. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know and if anyone doubts this place because of negative experiences before, trust me, this place has definetly had changes done. If 10 stars were possible, Id give them that plus another 10 more.

I went there hoping for a quick checkup on my heel pain. But instead I was kept waiting for an hour and it turns out to be a total waste of time because in the end I didnt see any doctors. Initially I just thought that they were busy. So I patiently waited. Then I noticed a lot of patients came later have already been called. I asked them how much longer till I see a doctor. To my dismay, they were surprised that I didnt fill out a patient form and ask me to wait longer. Even though I signed in on their patient list earlier but the receptionist conveniently skipped my patient form. And Until they have my form I wont be seeing a doctor. I had to find that out myself. I dont know the quality of the doctors but the initial service is utterly unprofessional. Ironically they are named Express Urgent Care.

Ive never been here before and came in early on a Sunday morning for severe neck pain that had lasted for a week. I only had to wait a little while maybe 15 min and the staff was very nice and helpful. I am writing this review because of the many bad reviews this place was given. Im not sure if the doctor or staff determines the level of service, but I think this place is better than my regular doctor where I normally wait hours to see my doctor. Im not sure which doctor I saw but he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to care. I was prepared to have a bad or only sub par fair experience based on other reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised and will come back again. I think if you get in early your wait time will be significantly reduced. Also the place seems very clean.
