We had just adopted a female puppy and the shelter had already spayed her. The first two days we had her, she wouldnt walk for us and she had very heavy, labored breathing. I knew she was in a lot of pain but we hadnt set up a veterinarian for her yet. I called River Oaks in a panic, and they told me to come down later that day and we would be taken care of. Brian at the front desk is awesome! He is extremely professional and I know he genuinely cares about all of the animals that walk through the door. Loren and Maggie were extremely gentle with Harbour and made her feel very comfortable. Doctor Heather came right in and took care of Harbour and was able to prescribe her some medication for her pain and the inflammation. Two days later she is up and running with a ton of puppy energy! We just took her on a walk with her big brother and she is doing so much better. If you want a clean facility, friendly, professional, caring staff and top-notch care, look no further. Thank you River Oaks! Harbour sends her gratitude and love!

I have been taking my boys here since I moved here over 2 years ago. Dr Heather and her staff have gone above and beyond to take care of my boys. Lets just say I have 1 who is a good boy and 1 is a bad boy(partly due to how he was treated at other vets), who is a horrible patient and quite impossible to handle. Both have health issues at young ages, and we are all treated wonderful , with respect , and such care at the office. I have become so comfortable with how they have dealt with handling many extreme issues that have happened over the last 2 years. They have stopped my tears and made me feel its all going to be ok. Dr. Heather knows her stuff and her well trained, knowledgeable staff are the best. Wouldnt trust my babies with anyone else!!!!!!

Relocated here last year from another state and lived close to Dr. Duncans clinic. So glad we found her and her staff, incredibly awesome and very affordable. Recently we moved again, but not out of state, and had to find somewhere quick to vet, huge disaster. We felt lied to and scammed...1 hour wait in the front office, told it was better to cook raw chicken and salmon every day as opposed to our holistic high dollar dog food brand(we never mentioned being unhappy with the food we feed our dogs), and spent $300 to be told my dog has an ear infection. Needless to say, I will not try out any other vets closer to where I live now, I will make the hour drive to vet at River Oaks!

Absolutely the best veterinarian clinic that weve found on the Grand Strand (and weve tried a few). We were impressed from the parking lot all the way through to the end of the visit. As we were walking through the parking lot one of the veterinarian technicians was on her way in. We could tell she was genuinely happy to be going to work. As a matter of fact all of the staff seemed to enjoy their job. Our dog loved everyone there too. Dr. Duncan and the technician took time to explain what they were doing, to answer our questions and to love our girl. Weve found our veterinarian and will recommend them to everyone! -Amy

I was VERY pleased with Dr. Duncan and ALL of her staff. They were very pleasant and professional. The office has a very inviting atmosphere for humans and pets! One thing I like the most is Dr. Duncan provides quality treatments and offers reasonable plans of treatment without trying to "sell" unnecessary tests and medications. I never felt pressured or felt like it was all about the money, but it was instead all about the best care for my pet. I might add I was seen as a walk in and I had an emergency. I myself was quite upset, not to mention my baby was in pain. Very kind, compassionate, helpful and affordable!

As a dog owner for over 5 years, I dont think I have ever rated an animal hospital five stars. Dr. Heather and staff are professional, friendly, and animal lovers. We have called multiple times with dog issues (not scheduled) and they have worked with us. Their prices are reasonable. The building doesnt stink and is well cleaned--Im allergic to cats and can last quite a while before I start to feel harsher symptoms. Both of our boys absolutely love the people here. We have had "pet stores" who mistreated our dogs during minor procedures. It is comforting to know that our dogs are cared for here when visiting the doctor.

While I havent yet visited River Oaks Animal Hospital, Dr. Duncan was our veterinarian in Whiteville before she opened her practice in Myrtle Beach. Dr. Duncan is a wonderful veterinarian in all ways. She is brilliant, loving, and kind, able to diagnose illnesses/conditions that many veterinarians cannot and then provide the treatment and care needed. Not only does she take care of animals, she takes care of the owners, as well. She made a beautiful blanket for me while I was undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia; I treasure it greatly. Our kitties and I miss her so much. Our loss is Myrtle Beachs gain.

Waited 40 mins for my dog to been seen, no one ever came into the room. Not to say " Hey sorry for the wait, we will be with you shortly" not a thing. Got up and left with my dog, even the guy at the front desk didnt say a word. There were 3 other people waiting in the lobby when I left. Once I left I got a call 5 minutes later from a girl saying " Sorry for the wait, I guess you had to go, but we will not charge you to be seen today." The customer service is terrible. If they would learn to communicate and talk to the customers esp on long waits I would not of cared.

Dr. Heather is amazing, she speaks with a gentle voice, explains everything, listens attentively. She and her staff are welcoming, quick to tend to your needs. Recently I brought in my 3 dogs on 3 separate visits, Dr Heather and her staff sat on the floor with the big dogs, they shared hugs and love. Ive recommended River Oaks Animal Hospital to many and will continue to do so... The Girls are all set for a year, but I think Ill stop in just to say hi, thats how wonderful the experience was. Ive never had a bad experience here. I can really tell that the staff care about the well-being of my pets. I brought a very sick cat in and, though Id prefer to have been seen a bit earlier (most of the staff was away at a conference), shes better now in no small part to the care that she received here and at AEHS. Its partly my fault for not calling and going through the website instead. Having a sick pet is awful, but knowing that River Oaks is right around the corner makes it better.

After going through many different vets who werent for me or my pup, I decided to try River Oaks since it was close by and my dog needed to be seen quickly. This turned out to be one of the best decisions Ive made. The staff is wonderful and treated my dog with nothing but care and affection. The cost is minimal and the atmosphere is very calming. I would recommend this place to anyone.
