I was referred to Carolina vision associates by my primary care physician. They called me set up an appointment, then told me to contact them sometime before my appointment to give them my medicaid information. They contacted me a few days after to inform me that my medicaid was "INVALID" so now Im confused, because I had just picked up a Rx from the pharmacy and my medicaid was just fine minutes before. She proceeded to tell me to contact my medicaid provider, so I asked her do you guys accept medicaid an she said yes. But proceeded to tell me that medicaid does not cover their eye exam, neither does it cover glasses. Which I can understand the glasses part, so I asked again, my medicaid is invalid? She said yes! Which was impossible, so I went into saying to the lady, is my medicaid invalid? Or are you telling me that you guys just dont accept medicaid for eye exams? She said correct. Where I got confused at is why would you say my medicaid is invalid instead of saying we dont accept your type of medicaid or your medicaid will not cover your exam!!!! Then she went on to say the eye exam was $200 but since Im a new client they would give me 20% off wich would make it about $170. I declined an cancelled my appointment! Went to an optometrist on the west side of town, and didnt even have to pay out of pocket for my contact lenses!!! My medicaid worked just fine for them!!!

Ive went here since I was a kid. I used to go to Dr. Shealy, but for the past 3 - 4 years ive seen Dr. Younger and they both were great. They were always courteous and respectful. The staff was typically friendly... the reason I gave four stars instead of five is because of the wait. It felt like you were in the waiting room for a very long time, despite having an appointment.

This is the second time we have been here and both times they charged over double what they quoted. The billing office leaves the second it turned 5pm. Our current Dr had retired and was more comprehensive in his exams then they were and charged a third of what this place does. Yes the office staff is courteous but not enough to make up the difference in pricing.

Ive been going here for almost 10 years. Dr. Younger is great. If he can put up with me, that says a lot. His staff is friendly and theyre usually really prompt. Ive had one time in 10 years that I waited what I considered to be a longer period than normal so I cant say thats too bad.

There hours are kind of ridiculous. Being that most people have to be to work at 8:30am, it would be nice for them to start at 8am. Actually it would be nice if they could open up on time if anything, it is 8:36am, and the door is still locked......

Looking for an optometrist in the area? I highly recommend Dr Younger and his staff. Scheduling was easy, the staff was efficient and pleasant and service was superior.
