My 6 month old puppy did not get walked for 5 hours, they forgot to feed her a meal during boarding, and they shorted her food at other meals. I even made it easy for them by providing bags of food with days and meal times. When asked how these things happened, they responded callously with no explanation. When this happened it hit me that she had never been tired after any time at daycare at the Pet Hospitals, and almost always peed upon seeing me. She has never had an excitability peeing issue at home after a long day of work or at any other facility. More frightening, directly prior to boarding she had swallowed some candles. We asked them to monitor her closely to make sure her digestive tract didnt get obstructed. If she wasnt walked or fed, how closely could they have been monitoring her? Luckily there was no issue this particular time. When I dropped her off, they quoted me for extra playtime and walks. When she was picked up, they informed me they didnt do that on weekends. Thats fine if they dont, but if I had known that I would have gone somewhere else. I complained and spoke to a Manager who helped to fully vet out the issue, and I received a full refund. The Manager said he could make a special note for my dog, and asked what he could do for me to not leave a poor review. I informed him my dog did not need special care, she only needed to actually be fed and walked, what I consider to be the bare minimum of animal care. I was later called by the Owner who personally apologized and stated that they would be making some changes. I believe after the incident the situation was handled properly and fairly. Their response helped to assure me this was not the level of care they strive to achieve. My intent of leaving a poor review is that there is some visibility and accountability of them to actually make a process change. I will not be returning soon, but I may reconsider in the future.

I am a physician and I took my cat to the Vet at the Downtown Animal Hospital because she was vomiting and I felt a mass in her abdomen. The Vet did physical exam on my cat twice on the first visit and was not able to feel a mass and did a whole bunch of work up and finally diagnosed the cat with constipation or inflammatory bowel disease. I took the cat back a couple of weeks later because she did not get better and she examined her again and did not find anything and recommended that I changed the cats food. I did so and my cat kept getting worst, and loosing weight and finally completely stopped eating. 2 month after the initial visit I took the cat to a different Vet who felt a mass in the cats abdomen right away. They did urgent surgery the same day and found advanced metastatic gastric cancer that was not operable anymore because it was so large and had invaded so many other organs. My cat suffered for 2 months and her condition was misdiagnosed. This Vet at the Downtown animal hospital cannot perform even a basic physical exam correctly, even though they charged me for it every time I stepped in their office. I highly recommend you take your pets to a different vet especially if you suspect your pet may have a serious medical condition that requires proper diagnosis and treatment that may save the pets life. I did not file a complaint with them because my cat was dead and no complaint would have brought her back but I like to share my experience with you so that you maybe able to save your pets life by taking him or her somewhere else.

I LOVE Dr.Heartsill. We have a 7 yr old Lab. We came to her based on 3 other great recommendations. Our Lab was misdiagnosed at another vet office about his cancer. I spoke with Dr. Heartsill about the issue and before I had ever paid a penny she had contacted the lab and read the cancer result and gave us her suggestions. She then performed his surgery and called to check on him everyday that weekend and every week thereafter. One day his stitches seemed odd and she said to text her a picture to see what was going on. I cant describe how much she showed that she cared, It is wonderful to have her support and compassion. I had a friend whose dog had a weird spot on his gums and I took a picture and text to Dr.Heartsill and she immediately responded with her thoughts and suggestions. I am so thankful to have a vet who is genuinely concerned. Another time my dog had played ball too long and his hips/knees were very sore. I had never seen my dog hurt like this and it scared me so I text Dr. Heartsill and she then called right away (weekend and from her home). She gave me recommendations and even check on him the next day. The fact that she goes above and beyond, sits on the floor and loves on our dog, and recommends/ treats as if it were her own animal are all the reasons I recommend Dr. Heartsill as your vet.

I boarded my dog here for Labor Day weekend. I dropped him off on a Friday and picked him up Tuesday morning. I got there at 7 am right when they opened and they didnt bring him back to me until 7:20 am. (Other people that came in after me were being helped) I finally got him and took him outside to use the bathroom (right in front of pet hospitals) when I noticed his fur on his feet was a dingy yellow color, his chest and tummy were sticky and he smelled like urine. I paid for a "discounted" bath and they gave him back to me smelling like pee when they said they gave him a bath on Monday. I know they didnt give him a bath because the pee was embedded deep into his fur. And if ANYBODY was watching him or paying attention, they would have seen that he needed a bath. If Pet Hospitals advertises that they do boarding for holiday weekends, they need to make sure kennel staff are there. My dog was left all weekend in his own filth. I was told to bring him in for a "free bath" but I do not trust them after this horrible experience. I gave him a bath myself that night because I knew he was getting cleaned when I bathed him. I love his vet, but unfortunately I am refusing to bring him back because of the horrible service from the kennel staff. If you love your dog, DO NOT bring them here!

Dropped my kitten off to get neutered yesterday morning and left with almost zero nerves/fear. Picked him up later in the afternoon afternoon, and hes doing so wonderfully that, with the exception of a brief pause for food, he didnt stop playing (hard) for several hours after getting home. Totally different experience than Ive had before with vet trips, especially surgical ones. I cant stress this enough-- if your furry baby needs a fantastic doctor, take him or her to see Dr. Heartstill at Downtown Animal Hospital!!! Ive known her for a couple years (from church) and finally made the switch after the situation with my furballs previous doc took a turn. BEST DECISION. Molly (my dog) and Ellis (the now neutered kitten) both adore her, and after fighting it for years, Molly has no problem going to the vet anymore! Thanks for always, always taking wonderful care of my fur crew! Its so comforting to know that theyll always be loved and so well cared for, whether Im there or not.
