Joshua Y., 08/15/2014Edit My father has been here for about 6 days now and its been problem after problem! He has had a shower since hes been there and "they" forgot to give him his meds for the whole day. The food is horrible...absolutely horrible! My service animal was told by upper management "that he needed to be confined" even after I showed her his service ID (which on the back it clearly states that illegal, then the following day I was told the same thing by a nurse supervisor. But all in all it truly doesnt seem like anyone cares there, from the upper management to nurses (especially nurses). Two days ago my father was drinking his own urine from a Gatorade bottle that his nurse gave him, then that following day the nurse put a filled urine bottle on his food tray...and the urine bottle had some holes on the side of it and leaked on to my fathers eggs!!! But dont worry because if you complain you will be labeled a racist just like me and my father were ( and Im sure my African American wife of 9 years will be happy to know) plus you will be labeled aggressive and difficult by the social worker (Linsey Whittaker,LBSW and staff) then they just might make sure its impossible to transfer to another facility because who wants to take on an aggressive, difficult racist right? You also might want to take a look at how many inspections and complaints Matlocks Place has!!!! They have numerous professional and safety complains filed with the state of Texas and now The Department of Justice. TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Its only a matter of time before the state shuts this place down.

I wish i could give this NO stars. Do NOT put your loved one in the care of this facility or these people. After our 86 yr old mother was in Arlington Memorial Hospital for a few days, we were given several choices by their social worker at AMH for her rehab. We trusted that they would not give us bad info. That was the 1st mistake we made. She was there for rehab...not long term care. She was admitted to Matlock Place early on Friday and never received one minute of rehab. Our family had to physically go there to help with bathroom needs because she called and called and no one came. She begged us to come get her. It was heartbreaking. After many, many issues including not getting meds that were ordered, we found her another rehab facility so we went to get her. We found her bound to a chair, slumped completely over and barely responsive. We asked the nurse if she had been that way for a while and they said yes like it was no big deal. We then told the nurse, you call 911 or we will. They were reluctant but did it. We packed her things and went to Mansfield Methodist hospital...what a great facility that is. She never recovered and sadly passed away after being in hospice for less than a day. I have had 4 conversations with the staff at Matlock Place including their Social Worker and Head Administrator and two with their corporate office...Cascade Health Services. NOT ONE PERSON has followed up with those calls. Next call and letters of documentation is to DADS (Texas Department of Aging and Disabled Services) and then to whoever else will listen. They need to be shut down..NOW.

I wish I could put no star! These people are the worst.. My family member was dirty and smell horrible smell of pee and feces all the time they stayed in this place. Mostly all the staff dont care about the people they are taking care of.. Even the doctors dont care and dont have a clue about the patients they are seeing at this place. My family member could have die a number of times in this place if we didnt check on them regularly. The Food is horrible! Nutrition means nothing to this place. They feed everyone junk and horrible nasty food that doesnt taste like real food on top of that. Theyre so cheap you can tell by the way the food taste its cheap food taste like fake food! If you care anything about your loved one do not bring them to this please.. The people are mean.. Mostly all of them are very rude!!! They hate to do there job!

I have a friend that is trying to recover from a stroke. We all know how important nutrition is to keeping your strength up so you can recover. This place gives their patient horrible food. It's junk food. They get corny Dogs for lunch or dinner about 3 times a week. Peanut Butter sandwich for dinner. If they do happen to get a cooked meal , it's full of greasy. I'd think twice before spending any time at this Hospital.
