Ideal Dental is probably one of the worst "professional" experiences Ive ever had. I heard good things about their prices so I went in to have some scans done to have my wisdom teeth pulled. After my scans the dentist there told me I needed to have about 7 fillings done before I could even schedule an appointment for my wisdom teeth pulling. I was so eager to get everything over with that the same day I went ahead and paid in full ($300) for the fillings she recommended but only had one half of them done (also per the dentists request). When I told my mom I had done this she did not think that sounded right. I immediately called my regular dentist and he told me that didnt sound necessary because I had never had problems with my teeth before especially not to the extent they were saying. I called back ideal dental and told them I would not be doing any more work there and if I could just have my money back for what I did not get done (the other half of the fillings). Lets just say my refund was not a high priority for them. I asked them when I should expect to get the refund back and they told me "it was out of their hands" because it had already been sent off to their corporate. I can understand that. But that wasnt a very good way to put it and it definitely didnt reassure me any because it was quite a bit of money. Also, my teeth are in pain on the side they worked on. And I had had no problems prior to seeing them. When I try to chew on that side it feels like I am chewing rocks. Something else Ill have to get taken care of elsewhere. TWO months later I finally got my refund and the office had the nerve to call me and say "it looks like you need some work done on your wisdom teeth".....Im not sure how they missed the point that thats all I was going in there for. Needless to say I am relieved this terrible experience is behind me and from now only will stick to my own dentists recommendations. I hope people take the time to read this and understand that apparently dentists are scammers too.

Full Disclosure: Brevity is not my strong suit. Let me preface this review by telling you all a little about ME. I have General Anxiety Disorder and part of that is severe dentist-related anxiety. Over the past 15 years I have had dental complication after dental complication (including a former dentist who slipped and literally drilled a hole in my tongue), so needless to say, I let a few dental issues go untreated for a little too long. One of my molars started causing me a great deal of pain and I knew I needed to see a dentist ASAP. Even when one of my best friends swore shed found the GREATEST dentist, I was still skeptical. But yall... SHE WAS RIGHT. Dr. Herrera is amazing!! He is so kind, gentle and calm and does everything he possibly can to make his patients comfortable. At my first appointment, I told him all about my anxiety and past experiences and he was incredibly patient (even when I cried in the chair), constantly checking in on me as he worked, making sure I was numb enough and that my anxiety wasnt too high. I also have to point out how amazing the entire staff is from the front desk to the hygienists! Rene and Jacquelyn are so sweet and have also gone above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and okay during my procedures. (Rene even offered to hold my hand!) And Amy and the girls at the front desk are always so friendly and ask me about various things in my life, which shows me they remember who I am and Im not just a number. If you are anywhere close to Highland Village, I highly encourage you to make Dr. Herraras Ideal Dental team your dental home. Even though I still feel those pre-appointment jitters, I have absolutely no doubt that Im in the very best hands.

I had read a ton of reviews on these types of offices and really did not have much trust going in and very hesitant. First time visiting Ideal Dental was 6 months ago. My husband and 2 daughters had cleanings and my daughter had work done. It was a very friendly atmosphere. Dr. Hong worked on my husband and explained the work needed in my daughter. Everything went well so we rescheduled for all of us to have cleanings and just recently visited again. It was another great experience. Dr. Regan is the dentist that worked on my crown and advised of all the work I needed. Up front he said, it could have to be a root canal. But good news was it was only a crown. He was very kind and professional. It was the best experience Ive ever had with getting shots and having my teeth drilled on. I could of napped. Edith was the assistant and was sweet. Tara was the best with explaining cost and what insurance would pay. She was very helpful. I ask a lot of questions and she was very kind, patient, and professional. I waited to write the review to have gone there myself and also having more than one experience. I can honestly say this an office that is trustworthy and honest. Tara will do all she can to help you understand the billing and how insurance will pay. But I would suggest also do your homework and contact your insurance company for yourself. Thank you Tara and all who made our experience wonderful!!!

New update: 6/11/15 I took one of my children back in today for a filling and teeth whitening. I was told that he wasnt able to do the whitening because he hadnt had all of his procedures done yet. Everything HAD been done at their office. It just wasnt noted in his records that procedures had been done. This issue was resolved quickly. However, Dr. Sing has left the practice. I wasnt notified before coming in. Although, I feel my kids work today was good, the reason we returned was that we liked Dr. Sing so much. I feel that there should have been communication. Also, my 21 year old daughter made an appointment for her 6 month check up for today. After sitting back in the back for an hour and 15 minutes, a "cleaning" was not done. She only received X-rays and an exam. My daughter finally came out on her own because nobody had given her any direction in the back for so long. Over an hour for X-rays and an exam is too long. Im not sure what happened since our initial visit was so fabulous. My first experience 2 weeks prior: I loved the courtesy of the dentist and office staff. Dr. Sing worked quickly and did an awesome job communicating my sons needs. She did an exam and was able to work on his teeth in the same day as the cleaning. She was able to fill a tooth instead of a root canal and even kept us from having to get a crown. Great experience.

I had a wisdom tooth that was causing me much discomfort but was not an emergency. I called their office to set up an appointment and from my first conversation with their staff... I felt a sincere empathy for my situation and a caring demeanour. My schedule was limited and I was nearing the end of the year and my insurance benefits but they were able to get me in the next day, assess the situation, explain in detail what was going on in my mouth, and layout a comprehensive treatment plan for a number of different dental issues I had avoided taking care of over the years. Ive always had a fear of the dentist and some poor experiences in my younger years... But their entire staff was great! Attention to detail and efforts to make me feel comfortable were a relief in an already stressful circumstance. They were able to maximize my end of year insurance benefits and lower my out of pocket expense without sacrificing the treatment I needed. I will be going back to Ideal Dental after the first of the year to complete my treatment without hesitation and I would definitely recommend their Highland Village location to my family and friends.
