I must start out by saying that Dr. Gooch is one of best doctors Ive ever had. Having had previous health complications, I did my research before selecting a new provider upon moving back to the Austin area. He has been a great physician to say the least. However, at my last visit, I was very disappointed with the staff at the front desk in particular the office manager. The waiting room was full of people and there was a line that had formed behind another patient. It was obvious, that the staff was trying to explain payment requirements to the patient. There was a clear language barrier but the office did have an interpreter that was translating the entire conversation with other staff members. Needless to say, everyone in the waiting room and in line was made aware of the patients inability to pay. Lets just say that when I walked out that day, I knew exactly what kind of surgery she was having, how much it was going to cost her, and the details of the payment due. With the issues surrounding health care costs, I can only presume that payment issues will arise. However, I would like to think that office staff would protect the confidentiality information of every patient with the discretion and integrity it deserves. This couldve been handled in a very different way. Especially since there is a more private area inside of the office at check out (behind the glass doors). There was no excuse for the way this was handled. The most disturbing part was that when I asked to speak to the manager after my appointment, I realized that she was the one handling the details of this patient. Any one of us can be part of the uninsured or under-insured in the blink of an eye. I had to speak up even though this patient probably never will.

First off I live in Georgetown and I was recommend to come to this place, so I thought "why not and give it a try and drive 45 minuets" my first initial experience was the parking, NONE. Then I make it up to the office building 15 minuets before my appointment and I waited for 20+ minuets! THEN when I was called back to begin the process, the nurse spoke to me for about 2 minuets and gave the whole "the doctor will be right in speech" well we all know that means to prepare yourself to wait! I ended up waiting almost and hour. I am 19 year old girl and this is my first visit so I was nervous already, the doctor I had an appointment with made no effort to spend the time with me and walk me through the things I needed/going through. I felt very rushed and that I wasnt important. Well when I was leaving there was only one exit......why? Because you have to pay to park!! Yes I said that correctly to see a doctor that I am already paying for I have to pay to park, which is absolutely ridiculous. My next time back I waited just as long but didnt have the worst experience, I didnt see a doctor I saw the NP whom was very helpful and pleasant!! Then I had a serious emergency and I called them 5 times during the working hours and tried every single other service including the emergency line....no answer. Well then for my first Pap smear I didnt know what was going on and they started touching and putting objects down there without explaining to me anything that was going on or what the reason for them doing it was. I continued to make the drive because I wanted to get a better experience, and I am never impressed. I still have over an hour wait to see the doctor. To me if youre not pregnant there youre not important!!

I used to be a patient of this practice since as long as I can remember. My original gyn, Dr. Wernecke has since retired. He was a great doctor. In 2007, my new doctor at this practice, Dr. Kish, insisted I be scheduled for a procedure based on a lab result. I wanted a second opinion as I suspected that the procedure might not be necessary. Rather than discuss this as an option, The Ob/gyn Group and Dr. Kish sent me a letter that essentially "firing" me as a patient - related to their "liability" policies. I want to note that I had before this incident that I had complained to their administration management about a separate issue (the fact that I was kept waiting for over 45" at a time for my appointments on a few occasions). Dr. Abikhaled, who delivered my baby in 2007, was fabulous. I have no complaints with Dr. Kishs medical treatment but I never heard from her personally and was disappointed by the form letter rather than a personal call to discuss this matter. My impression is that this "group of professionals" is a "business policy/management" led group rather than a group led by compassionate. Their web site mission promises: respect and friendliness - that was completely lacking in my situation. If you are looking for an honest, fair physician and practice, that partners with you on your medical treatment, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Thank goodness they changed the name of the practice as this behavior totally was not becoming of the honesty, professionalism and caring behavior previously provided by Wernecke & Associates.

I had the pleasure of working as a nurse here for the last 2 years amongst the very best! The Drs, NPs, PAs, Nurses, MAs and front desk are truly dedicated to giving superior care. This office also offers an in house lab, mammogram, ideal protein, ultrasound and bone density for the convenience of their patients these also are run by experienced & dedicated staff!! As an employee I made many lifetime friends in this very friendly environment. I would recommend this office to any patient as Im sure there is a Dr in this large practice that would be exactly what you are looking for. I had the pleasure of directly working with Dr Nunnelly and Maria and their dedication to the overall care of their patients is above and beyond. They personally have patients that have been returning for many years who are like family to them. I will miss this office deeply and highly recommend it!!!

Have you tried to get an appointment? I had been going to this group for 30 years and I still had to give them information that should be in my file, even the electronic one. Then, before I go to the next appointment I have to go to the groups website and print some documents--they have to be in before the appointment otherwise I wont be able to see the doctor! Can you believe this? The excuse is that the group has changed to a new computer system and it does not have my information, and that it would take 30 minutes to upload the information on those documents the day of the visit. It sounds as if this group changed computer systems on the cheap!! and the patients have to do all of the work for them--free. I am not happy. They just might lose a customer.

Dr. Phillips removed several ovarian cysts for me almost 2 years ago, and he was incredibly thorough, patient, and meticulous. He is personable, knowledgable, and ready to answer any and all questions we have ever had - even encouraging MORE questions when we got to the end of our list. Im 18 weeks pregnant now, and hes been fantastic with me with the pregnancy also - the new office is sort of a drive from our house, but I wouldnt switch for anything. The nurses are sweet and responsive, all the labs are in the office, and the new center is beautiful, calming, and clean. (free parking now too!) Im so glad I found Dr. Phillips, and look forward to him bringing our first baby into the world!
