By far the worst gynecologist office Ive ever been to. I started here for my first pregnancy but ended up switching to a different doctor. This doctor seemed nice but rushes the appointments, isnt very informative, and didnt directly answer some of my more important questions. I found out I had a subchrionic bleed after a visit to the ER and when I asked this doctor about it at my next appointment she gave me no information on it and just told me not to worry about it. I had to research it myself. I also requested a noninvasive blood test (harmony test) which she first said could be done at 10 weeks. I had my blood drawn at 11weeks and I waited for the results which i never got. When I called and spoke to a nurse I found out they never sent my blood in for the noninvasive test. when I asked why my blood wasnt sent I was told that since I was barely 11 weeks when they drew blood the doctor didnt want to send it in because she doesnt like to do it that early. She didnt inform me of this and led me to believe that I was getting this test done already, she even said i would get results in about 10 days when I asked how long it would take...She also changes a lot of what she says for example she said the test could be done at 10 weeks and then two weeks later she said the test could only be done after 11 weeks. She doesnt seem to be on the same page with her staff either because they would all tell me different things. I also found out from a nurse at harlingen medical center that Dr. Speck-Hopkins is known for leaving bruises on babies that she delivers and a close friend of mine who had her baby delivered by speck-hopkins confirmed that her baby had many bruises when she was delivered. Overall this doctor made me very uncomfortable and put me through so much stress and frustration that I decided it was better for me and my baby to switch to a different doctor.

I was worried about having my baby down here in the valley., I wasnt wrong. I felt like a number down here. Her office looks nice and I was tired of looking for a good dr, as the previous dr I was seeing, wasnt in network anymore. After my second visit, I left due to rude front staff and not feeling a connection with the dr. I gave her a second chance hoping shed warm up to me but no. When I voiced my concerns to her about high percentage of c-section here in the valley and I was afraid, her response was "well see if your baby behaves". Like Really?! Nice looking office but looks arent everything.. sad Drs here in the valley treat patients like theyre all on free healthcare. I have insurance! They dont take care of medical records transfer either, wouldnt see me until I brought my records and that was me in tears my first visit. When I did see dr Lena speck, it felt rushed, and I also had to ask her for genetic test! Like really?! she has similar reviews on other sites so I know Im not overreacting. Glad to know others have experienced the same here, unfortunately.
