Filthy. The nurse practitioner that took out my dads chest tube tossed it to the floor, with a puddle of blood. He left the room, and left it there, in a puddle of blood. Nobody came to pick it up so my mother put that huge bloody tube in the trash and wiped up the blood with a towel. The room / bloody floor was not disinfected. Before that, the nurses that were assigned to un-hook dads chest tube from the wall to help him walk around didnt know how to do it, and said they need to wait on a head nurse or someone who knows how. As a result, he did not get the theraputic walks he needed for at least another 12 hrs. Much of the staff was obese and haggard, looking and acting as if they had little sleep. The lady that gave my dad his breathing treatment actually leaned her head against the wall she was so tired. If the staff was not so overweight and unhealthy, perhaps their energy level would improve the quality of their bedside manner and attention to details. A healthy employee is an alert employee. I would not call this grumpy unfriendly group of people "health care providers." I would call them "FIRED." When my dad was released a nurse came in and said "you can go now" but my mother said, "shouldnt you take out his IV first?" so the nurse did, without washing her hands OR putting gloves on. The whole four days my dad was there, they did not change his bloody sheets (so my mom did) and they never asked him if he would like to take a shower. Christus St Elizabeth, you owe my father an apology, and you owe all of your patients a higher level of care and cleanliness. UPDATE: I spoke to a hospital representative who has agreed that this is not the quality of care that their hospital expects from their staff, so I am confident that the upper level administration is going to be informed of this problem and address all of the issues. IT is very important for everyone to report this type of thing, because they consider it a "gift" when you let them know about this kind of stuff so they can change it.

I gave birth there, it was the worst experience of my life. The nurses in the maternity ward are truely awful people. My delivery nurse ignored my doctors orders and dumped out half of my pain injection. When my doctor started my stitches I was screaming in pain. The doctor was quite upset with the nurse. She then threw my $500 cell phone down the laundry Shute, the hospital ran me around about it for days. I never got it back. HIPPA laws mean nothing to those nurses. One of them came in my room while I had company, blurred out my medical info and then practically tried to attack me with a shot that did not want. My truck was hit in their drive way with my two children in it and their security refused to call the police for a report, I was only able to get 1/2 of my $4000 in damages thanks to them. I watched a valet tell a man in the parking lot that she was going to give him a $500 for smoking in the parking lot. The man was on an IV ,, she forced him to roll it across the street. The pediatrician that checked my son out at birth was an obnoxious jerk and forced me to keep my perfectly healthy son there for three days. We were held hostage for no reason at all. 3 months later I was forced to return for a minor procedure. St. Elizabeths does not think that pain is an issue, inspite of the brochures you see in the lobby. Those are just for show. Catholics believe that suffering brings you closer to Jesus. So they do not heat the C0 that is used in laparoscopic surgeries. It causes nerve damage that is so painful. I was in excruciating pain for days after, the nurse that woke me up, did not give me the meds prescribed by the doctor either .. And she was openly mocking me when I woke up in tears and termbling in pain. By the time these awful "good Christians" were done torturing me, I could no longer breast feed my 3 month old son. I could go on., but you get the picture., this place it pure hell from the parking lot on up. Seriously !! Run for your life!!

I wish there was a negative star to give. I came into their emergency room after suffering a seizure while driving and totaling my car by hitting telephone pole. after being assisted into the emergency room and telling them what happened they told me to sit down and fill out the admittance paper work, despite how much pain I told them I was in. After filling out the paper work waited 30 to 45 mins before they even admitted me into a room to WAIT once again for a doctor to see me. While I was waiting the first 45 mins I went up to the receptionist desk twice telling them I had awful pain, and they pretty much ignored me and had me sit back down and wait. But after they admitted me into a trauma room and told me to wait for a doctor to see me. I waited about 2 1/2 hrs before a doctor even came in to just see me. after that they took me to get an MRI and X rays to see what was wrong. I had a broken bone above my collar bone and a small cut on my spleen, The doctor said that I could have bleed out pretty quick had the cut on my spleen been worse. Him saying that kind of reassured the thought that "I could be dying" while waiting 2 hr for a doctor to see me. They dont care about anyone who comes into their Emergency room. The receptionist just dont care about the condition of a patient coming into their doors. It is pretty much first come first serve, despite the amount to damage or pain you have. I another patient just like me going up to the receptionist desk begging to be seen or get something to help the pain she was having, but they ignored her and let her just walk around in pain waiting. I will go to Baptist hospital or even a clinic or let a homeless person take care of me before going back to St. Elizabeth. If you dont mind dying in the emergency room and having it not being noticed until the next day, then feel free to go to St. Elizabeth. If you want to live go somewhere else.

Im writing this off of their computer in the Activity Room (visitors lounge). My dad is currently receiving care on the 6th floor of the hospital and i must say...I AM PLEASED with the level of professionalism and caring attitudes and expedient nurses and RNs. He was in a bad accident on his motorcycle. They have clearly and by his words have maintained a consistent flow of care and attention. There are a few issues i have though: (1) The incident happened on Sunday and neither my family nor I were contacted by the hospital. My dads co-worker was kind enough to inform us of the situation when he found out on Wednesday afternoon. So that was almost 3 to 4 days my father has been in this predicament alone...without us having any clue of what was going on. They said they couldnt call us because they usually find relatives numbers by looking in patients contacts but his phone was locked all those days while he was unconscious which means we would have NEVER found out if his friend wouldnt have call us. Smh. Other than that, on the care side of things, i couldnt be more proud of the treatment and courtesy im witnessing. This like most hospitals is not perfect but i appreciate the effort im seeing as far as my father is concerned. I too am surprised by the comments even though i have other experiences with them. All i can say is RESULTS MAY VARY. Consider this hospital at your own risk and on your own interpretation.
