Mixed experience, went in for a root canal. Shots to numb were painful but I get that. However once they were ready to start the root canal they put several pieces of equipment in my mouth and I couldnt breathe and began to panic. They were nice enough to stop everything before the dentist actually started, but then they offered me sedation dentistry with a medication called Halcion. I had some questions about it and the printed information they gave me was not sufficient to answer those, and the dentist was kind of uncertain about interactions with other medications. I tried web search and pretty much found horror stories about Halcion, but obviously the web is not a good place to look so I was still at a loss. The dentist said the equipment in the mouth was non-negotiable, which I guess I get that. But he also said the Halcion was non-negotiable and he would not use anything else. He said both of these were "standards of care." I respect that. I just want to make people aware that if they have problems with anxiety or claustrophobia you may run into problems having a root canal done here, or I guess anywhere for that matter. Also having Halcion as the only sedative available was a problem for me, I wish they had other options. I dont want to take any medication Im uncertain about, and in all fairness they agreed with that, of course. In the end, I have chosen to have the tooth removed by my regular dentist, and the endodontist did of course give that option. He was very professional and friendly and I appreciate the care given in helping me to make a decision. They did the right thing and sent me home. I am rating them with three stars for their level of professionalism. Im not giving the other two stars because of their inflexibility on the sedation. So if you dont have any problems with anxiety or more involved medical issues this doc is great. But if you have anxiety or claustrophobia or are on a number of meds I would recommend you contact their office first, and not make a needless visit. They are very nice and will work with you and help you decide if this is what you want. I just wish I had known that beforehand. Maybe this post will help someone else.

I was referred to Endodontic Associates of Tarrant County by my amazing dentist to review options to available to save my natural tooth. Upon entering the office I was greeted by the front staff immediately with glowing smiles that were extremely helpful and knowledgable. In my opinion, front office staff can make or break a practice so my expectations were already set high. Once completing the patient information I was immediately called back by Dr. Conveys assistant. Oh my goodness ... again met by someone with an extremely nice attitude, very knowledgable and made me feel like I was in the best hands possible. After taking x-rays in walked Dr. Convey. Just to add, this was not my first rodeo as I have had a few root canals in the past. To my surprise Dr. Convey displays my x-rays and begins drawing on the screen areas of concerns and explains all options and asking my opinion. (Now that was a first ... a doctor asking a patients opinion) Needless to say after the excellent visual aids and knowledge I elected that moment to have a root canal. The procedure was painless, completed in a timely manner and an overall great experience. It was especially nice to hear how respectful and thanksful Dr. Convey was to his assistant using please, thank you, your welcome and then finished it off by commending her for a good job! VERY IMPRESSED ... if you need a tooth saved then this is the place for you!

I was referred to Endodontic Associates of Tarrant County by my dentist to look at an issue with two root canals. Met with Dr. Convey and scheduled to have the work done to repair the issue. The first appointment with Dr. Convey was a 4 star experience. The week prior to the appointment I get a call from the office stating that they had to change my appointment as the doctor would not be in. I asked for another dentist within their office and no one does the work I needed done. I then asked if they had a referral to another dentist at another facility as I had been laid off and my insurance was running out. They did not have a referral and stated that they could not do the procedure before 12/6/2013, 6 days after my insurance lapsed. I began the search for another dentist to do the procedure and found one that would accommodate an initial exam and repair prior to the end of November when my insurance ran out. I phoned the office to speak to Dr. Convey and was told that he did not answer phone calls, but the office manager was who I needed to speak with. I asked for her and was then told that she did not work in that office and that they would give her a message to call me back It has been 3 weeks and no phone call. I have to state I am not surprised, but am disappointed. The lack of compassion on the office staffs part was truly appalling.

Very pleased with my experience. Ive had a lost filling for years that eventually needed a root canal. My dentist was unable to complete it due to a difficult tooth canal and suggested an endodontist. Ive been putting this off for almost a year due to serious anxiety that I experienced while getting a root canal in the neighboring tooth. I dreaded going back. Yesterday, I decided that I had put it off for too long, and decided to go for it. Everyone in the office was friendly and helpful. Jessica in the office was able to schedule my appointment same day... which was good, because Im not sure how long my resolve would have lasted :) Juanita, the dental assistant got me set up and took my vitals and took the x-rays and set me at ease from the get go. Dr. Convey came in and highlighted areas on the x-rays, detailed the problem, clearly explained the procedure and patiently answered my questions. I opted to use the nitrous oxide in hopes that it would help with the anxiety issue. Ive only had one other root canal to compare this too, but it went VERY smoothly, and seemed like it was over quickly. One day post, and I feel pretty good! A little sore, but that is to be expected. I would definitely recommend this office to a friend!

My family member’s appointment with Dr. Convey was problematic at best and unconscionable at worst. He incorrectly told her that she didn’t need a root canal. Then, he became extensively aggravated that she wanted more than his advice in a vacuum so to speak. Because she asked him to explain to her the discrepancy between his view and our general dentist’s perspective, he chose to view her as an adversary instead of being an advocate for her. He said he didn’t care if she was on antibiotics and had a higher fever and more swelling yesterday because she didn’t have it now. He also refused to look at the general dentist’s x-rays. (Ask the receptionist –Even if your dentist offers to send the x-rays, they refuse them because Dr. Convey won’t even reference x-rays other than their own). Its one thing to take your own x-rays; its an entirely different thing to be so arrogant that you wont reference additional evidence. I took her for a second opinion, and a ct scan revealed a botched root canal and another new root canal that needed to be performed that Dr. Convey had missed. I would recommend against taking anyone you care about to Dr. Convey.
