Update: Went to the physical exam (in the works for several months). Was pretty basic, nothing out of the ordinary. Added a star back since the Nurse Practitioner and Phlebotomist were friendly and helpful. Other staff members felt very cold though. Could just be an off day. Will update the review as things progress. ----------------- First, a word of warning – your first visit at Wiseman is a “new patient visit” only. During this first visit they just go over the new patient forms you filled out in advance or in the lobby before the appointment. This is just over $100 out of pocket right away – no actual services performed…welcome to the clinic… They will not tell you about this new patient fee until you receive the bill in the mail. Then they tell you that you can get blood work done if you want, but say it should be 1-2 weeks before your annual exam (which will now be a second follow up visit), which will likely need to be scheduled at least 3 months out even if you can go any time of day. I’m still waiting for my first annual exam, which is now been in process since late August. They also have a web portal which promises to be your conduit to your records, bill pay, and communication from the staff. The only good part about this so far has been a relatively fast replies I receive. Then the negatives begin. There is no way to pay bills through the portal as stated elsewhere. The replies I get thus far are very brief and not very helpful (prepare to have a lot of back and forth before accomplishing anything). Also don’t forget your password. The password reset process is very cumbersome and time consuming. Be very patient waiting for the password reset confirmation emails, which can take up to 30 minutes to arrive otherwise you will need to begin again. If you ask that they order any testing services (such as cancer screening due to family history) they will tell you to order it yourself. Obviously this will not work since testing services need to be ordered by a healthcare provider and billed to the insurance. Still trying to get this resolved myself. UPDATE: as of 10-Jan, they will not order the test kit I requested - I will need to find another healthcare provider. As of 2-Feb they apologized that this testing service could not be provided and will look into possibly looking into using it in the future.

Holistic approach, friendly staff, responsive communication through online portal. My experiences with Wiseman Family Practice have been a breath of fresh air and a complete reversal from the unpleasant, infuriating, and sometimes dangerous experiences Ive had elsewhere during my 20 years in Austin. I have had horrendous experiences with other local doctors ranging from prescribing medications to which I am allergic to erroneously informing me my unborn child had Downs Syndrome. Most times I have been hospitalized have been due to "modern medicine". Other doctors have done a bait and switch with vaccinations saying they wouldnt push them and later requiring waivers and pushing hard every visit and continuing to vaccinate before our child healed from prior reactions. Other doctors have given me a hard time about consuming raw milk from my own pastured, organic-fed dairy goats. Many times Ive been about to walk out of the exam room due to unreasonable hours-long wait times at other offices. My experiences with other medical professionals has led me to view many doctors offices as a sales force for big pharma. At other practices, the informational flyers in the waiting rooms are sales pitches for drugs. They have mountains of free samples to give out. And its hard to walk out without a prescription for something. But they dont discuss the financial incentives. Thats not the case here. Ive had at least five office visits and the only prescriptions Ive walked out with was to purchase books to educate myself. Where else will you find that? They do not push drugs or vaccinations. As far as I am concerned, WFP is the only game in town. I would not take my family anywhere else.

I first came to see the Wisemans almost five years ago because of Richard Wisemans excellence reputation in Austin with the use of bio-identical hormones. I had been diagnosed, years before, with fibromyalgia and had been prescribed antidepressants and pain medications. I was overweight, fatigued and in chronic muscle pain! After gathering bloodwork, the Wisemans suggested that my symptoms might be signs of hypothyroid and less than optimal hormone levels. I started their bio-identical hormone program immediately, and over the next several weeks and months, was able to go from 10 prescriptions down to 3 prescriptions. The pain meds were the first to go! Optimizing my thyroid levels took care of the chronic pain I had been experiencing for years! Then, I was ready to deal with my weight issues. I enrolled in their HCG program for weight loss, and lost a total of 50 lbs! My quality of life has improved dramatically over the last few years. Ive learned that there is a direct correlation between what I eat and drink; and how I feel. Up until seeing the Wisemans, I had never heard this from any of my physicians. Wiseman Family Practice is not your average medical practice. They focus on prevention, nutrition and good lifestyle habits! Jeremy Wiseman has been my primary care physician for a while now, and I am very pleased with the changes in my health!

I wish that everyone had access to a truly integrative medicine practice like Wiseman. This is the way medicine should be. Emphasis is on lifestyle choices that result in optimal health. The website makes available information to help with this. You really feel that you have access to alternative approaches when needed. The office is not only run very efficiently, but it is always easy to communicate with your provider via the patient portal and to access your lab results. I see one of the several physician assistants and always feel that I am in very capable hands. My annual checkups and other appointments are very thorough. In fact, my exams resulted in referrals for additional tests that other doctors had never even considered. I am always able to discuss concerns and to ask questions, knowing that my provider will be responsive. On occasion, I am given some flexibility to adjust my medication a bit to see if works for me. You are not just a number at this practice. Your provider recognizes that you and your body are unique and that one treatment is not necessarily appropriate for all. Simply put, I feel respected as a patient, and I myself have great respect for Wiseman Family Practice and their approach to medical care. I could not imagine not having them as a part of my medical team and consider myself to be very fortunate to be one of their patients.

Hopefully, theres been a communication issue with both parties. First let me say I have had good and bad experiences with this practice. The PA I see is absolutely awesome. Very attentative, concerned about my needs. Dr. Jeremy, I felt, not so much if you dont want to do your care his way. Im not saying he is a good or bad Dr. He is definitely holistic in practice but if one needs more than a holistic approach, he was not so interested in working with me. At least this is what I found for myself. Making an appointment is difficult even if you are an established patient. Put on the wrong day and scheduled with the wrong Dr. When I told them this, I was ignored and shuffled in anyway. I am old school and I am on medicare. They do file for you but dont accept up front. Apparently, every request to my PA is filtered thru Dr. Jeremy and I dont even see him anymore, and for a reason. Dr. Jeremy, as a younger Dr., gave me the impression that he had little time for those that were cash pay and could not afford a 400 dollar blood test every 4 months for hormone replacement therapy. So much for holistic healing if you cant afford it or dont have insurance. My overall experience has been poor at best with the Weisman practice, with the exception of the PA I see, which was the only reason I have continued with the WFP. She met my needs and expectations.
