Upon first arriving with my entire family the office was great, friendly, paperless and clean. They did take my cigna medical card which I thought was extremely weird since my eye exam is covered by my eye insurance and I have never needed glasses or had any eye problems, the receptionist said it was in case there was something medically wrong with me they would bill my medical insurance. (hmmm?) The three of us one by one we were called back to get started with the initial exams. I was first and was taken in to the corner of the office and had several "tests" done where we had to follow a dot, watch a picture focus in and out and lastly we got pictures of the inside of our eyes. After that we were taken in to a room where the "normal" eye exam by the Dr. was preformed. When all was said and done we were supposed to have paid a $10 copay and $25 for glasses if we needed them. We then met with the Eye glass consultant because my husband and daughter needed glasses. We informed her that we were only interested in insurance covered glasses since none of us had ever worn them and throughout the summer we were just going to get cheap ones to get use to having them. She kept just bringing us like 3 pairs from a back office and continued to show us other "name brand" glasses. We must have told her 5-7 times NO we are NOT wanting these, we only want insurance covered glasses... ONLY SHOW US THOSE PLEASE. We finally just picked out a pair for our daughter and asked if we could have our prescription so we could go somewhere else. (they definitely do not want to sell you the covered glasses, they are hidden in the back so make sure you ask to see them if that is what you want) We needed to pay and get out so we asked to settle up and knew already our bill would be $55. SHOCKINGLY to us we were told our bill was $175. We were told that since we had these extra "tests" done we were being charged an additional $40 per person and insurance did not cover this... FIRST off we NEVER knew we were going to be charged additional money for these tests, as they NEVER asked us if we wanted them OR told us there would be additional charges. They acted like it was part of the insurance covered exam, then in the end said OH YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE YOU HAD IT DONE. We argued and said NO, we didnt ask for this and we were never told it would be an additional charge or we would not have opted to have it done. The insurance lady spoke with what I am assuming was the Office Manager and she said she was sorry, but we were going to have to pay for it anyway... We once again put our foot down and said ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WE ARE NOT PAYING FOR A SERVICE WE DIDNT ASK FOR AND WERE NOT TOLD WAS OPTIONAL. ( they are tricking people in to this service because im betting most people just pay for it instead of saying NO). I feel cheated and taken advantage of and will not return for our families next eye exams. I wish them luck and hope tricking people in to services is not how they pay the bills.

I waited at least 20 minutes for each appointment (add on an additional 5 to 10 minutes because I always arrive early for appointments). On my 2nd visit, a man left very angry because hed been waiting for 45 minutes. Does it even need to be said that this place is not well managed? The location is small and awkward. Patients are squeezed in the waiting room. I sat elbow-to-elbow with another patient while trying on lenses in a box-filled room. The receptionist at this place is downright rude and suffers from extreme halitosis. I was uncomfortable with their policy to take your major medical insurance card in addition to your vision insurance. Her reasoning? "It may turn out to be more than just an eye problem and the doctor will need to charge your medical insurance." I was going to get my annual vision exam! It irks me even now that these people have all of my info including my SS number. I have never ever had to provide medical insurance info in my 25 years of wearing glasses and contacts. The doctor insisted on putting me in a "better" brand of lenses. I was charged $89 for the privelage of wearing the ill-fitting and uncomfortable brand of lenses she insisted were better than the Acuvue Oasis ones Ive been happily wearing for 2 years. $89 for a pair of trial lenses?! Outrageous. Ive never even been charged for trial lenses before. The receptionist also tried to charge me for a years supply of contacts after my initial exam (close to $400) in spite of the fact that they insist you come back in a week to make sure the lenses are comfortable. The lenses were not comfortable so I came back in another week to get the brand I wanted and lo and behold, my vision was better than 20/20 in my preferred brand. Not ony were the ones she recommended uncomfortable, but they made my vision worse. Where did these people get their degrees? And on top of that, I had to come back for a third visit to make sure the lenses I originally wanted were still comfortable. (Thats a total of 60+ waiting time plus the time of the appointments, if youre keeping track. Yes, I spent over an hour on their shiny white pleather sofas listening to the sales woman trying to upsell glasses to every single patient)Im buying my lenses online and I will not be going back here next year.

My mother woke up Saturday and could not see out of her right eye. Her own eye doctor did not respond to repeated calls to his emergency line. My mother was thinking it was just a blood vessel or something and wanted to wait. I called my eye care doctor at Optix Eye care and they moved mountains to get my mom in for an evaluation right away. They determined within minutes that she was not having an eye related event. Dr. Mustgroves convinced her to go to the ER where we found she had a stroke. They were able to treat her and ran tests to find other challenges we were not aware of. She still has no sight in her eye due to the stroke, but I know she would not have gotten the treatment she needed if it were not for the staff at Optix Eye Care and Dr. Mustgroves. The doctor even followed up with a phone call on the weekend. I have seen Dr. Fain-Hutton for years and know how wonderful she is. Now we have another reason to thank Optix Eye Care. They really care about their patients.

I had an eye exam and bought glasses and contacts from this place today. I was very pleased with the service I received there. The doctor was completely thorough and caring and made me feel so comfortable. The staff was also knowledgable and friendly. Not to mention the insurance specialist; I am aways so confused about what my insurance covers, but she explained my coverage to me in detail and helped me figure out the best way to maximize my benefits. The best part of it all was picking out my glasses! They have this line called Tom Davies, which I had never heard of before, and I was actually able to customize my frame down to the size and colors. I will even have my named engraved into the frame!! I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of an eye doctor.
