Right on there, when saying the receptions person was a REAL JERK! For us she wouldnt even give us a chance to speak to a DR., our sick dog was told (through us) that he should wait until Monday to be seen, this was Friday. Great place! As it turned out he was sick with acute Leukemia and he was put to sleep in the end, but it would have been good to have seen a DR.instead of making him suffer until we couldnt endure him in pain. We had to take him to Uvalde on Sunday he had become so sick. There we had the most wonderful, caring vet anyone could ever wish for. She was wonderful. We would never take another pet to any of the Quacks in Del Rio. We had this same response with trying to get in to see the other Vets in Del Rio, even the one who said Emergency on call. He didnt even have his phone answered, not even by a machine. Jerks, one and all!

My dad was diagnosed with cancer March 2015 and my parents purchased a beagle in July 2015 to keep my dad company since I work and my mom had to aswell since my dad was on her insurance. My parents loved him and yesterday Bandit showed weekness and stopped eating or being active we tried everything. This morning my parents took him to Dr. Rathke but he was out for the day so they recommended this place and right away they regected Bandit and said they had no room to take him in. My mom begged to just have a look at him and they refused and suggested they travel to Uvalde, which they couldnt. Bandit passed away this afternoon and Im soo upset because he was my dads best friend for 7 months and helped him through everything he was going through.

After a botched spay & declawing for our cat at Rathke and their "unavailableness" in an emergency... We thankfully found Val Verde Vet Clinic, they let us rush in after hours and took the time to walk us through what had happened to our poor cat, while making sure she was stable and comfortable. They even helped with the bill since it was Rathkes fault for her condition. Val Verde Vet Clinic saved our cats life, and we will never ever return to Rathke. They may be cheaper, but in the bills we stacked up trying to fix what they had done ended up to be twice as much as it wouldve cost to go to real professionals like Val Verde.

I recently took my 14 year American Shorthair cat to this clinic due to her weight lose and scrubby coat texture. I was very pleased with the vet who thoroughly hand examined my cat, did blood work and confirmed my fear of renal disease. After rehydrating her due to mild dehydration, I was prescribed a K/D diet ( which the cat will not eat, through no fault of the vet). I know there is no cure this this ailment but I feel very confident in the professional advice and treatment my cat received at this clinic. I am very happy they are here in Del Rio and can recommend them to anyone.

Vet is awesome, you can tell she really cares about the pets. Only negative I have is the receptionist needs to be fired. She is so very negative and rude. Makes you feel like another paycheck and not a valued customer. Try to hold a conversation with her and she makes you feel stupid. But other then that I love the vet and her assistants in the back. Respectful and answers all questions until you feel comfortable with what is happening. I will go back, just ignore the old bat in front.

Had a great first experience , treated very well by all staff members and cared for my puppy very well . Where glad that we were able to find a good vet after moving to Del rio. However we did not receive the same courtesy when calling to schedule appointments. Received attitude from the front desk multiple times. Finally after being told "if you dont like it then you can go somewhere else " we will be taking that advice . Extremely disappointed.

I have 3 pets and have used this Veterinary for everything from vaccinations, surgeries and grooming. Ive never had a problem with any of the employees or doctors there. Theres not much to chose from in the way of pet care in Del Rio. Dr. Martin and especially Dr. Pharr are very caring and knowledgeable. The front desk person is not rude...shes just a very busy no-nonsense type of person.

I called to make an appointment for my dog and was offered an opening at the end of the day. The office called shortly after about a cancellation and offered to bump up my appointment. Dr. Ulrich was kind and prompt, she was in a rush with other animals but did not make me feel neglected. I thought the facility was clean, the staff was kind, and I was pleased with the pricing.

My kitten died 4 days after taking him to her and telling her about symptoms of severe diarrhea and vomiting she said he just had an upset stomach and gave him metronidazole. He had a seizure that lasted over an hour after evacuating his intestines and stomach it was horrible. I will be taking future kittens to Uvalde a waste of 150 bucks.

I usually deal with Dr. Pharr, but this past time I dealt with Dr. Martin. I took all four of my monsters, one of which completely acted as such. Dr. Martin was so patient with us and took good care of my babies. Everybody got the attention they needed. I couldnt be happier! Definitely would visit again.

Drove 60 miles with a bleeding pet there were no cars in parking lot and they would not take the dog till Monday I walked in on a Thursday!! So sad to see there are few Vets out there that really care. Dr Rathke would have seen me on the spot!! Very disapointed!!

Weve been taking our pets to Val Verde Veterinary Hospital since we moved to Del Rio. The staff is very nice and professional. Dr. Pharr is wonderful, very caring and methodical. She takes her time and answers all our questions. Highly recommend to everyone.
