Absolutely ridiculous that office representative is barely responding to comments left 2 years ago. Not only is this a perfect example of the professionalism of this office but it clearly shows that things have not changed. My parents are patients of these doctors and absolutely every time on their scheduled visits they easily are there between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. This is by every means elderly abuse. My parents are both diabetic and yet there is a sign clearly stating NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED. As if at the very least they had some sort of snack or vending machine to offer you inside. Its clear This business is simply in it only for the money as it is proven by their overbooking of patients. It is unfortunate that patients hands are basically tied behind their backs because if not at least lucky enough to be accompanied by a relative they are dropped off by a transportation service. Patients time is Just as valuable as any of the doctors and staff and should be treated with the same courtesy, respect and consideration that they would want and expect for themselves or their family members. For some reason people have lowered their expectations and this has become the norm, how SAD. In the meantime for patients reading this review you should look elsewhere. To Southwest Eye Institute management If and when you decide to respond I guess we will check site in 2 years. And to doctors currently staffed there, run your reputations are in jeopardy.

I went with my father because our doctor said he had a cataract and they needed me to drive because they would dilate his pupils. We saw an assistant first, and then one guy doctor who was really fluent in Spanish, which was good because my dad doesnt speak English. He explained everything and then said that if my dad had a lot of symptoms (like cant drive at night) then they could do the cataract surgery, but if he was feeling fine then the cataract surgery can wait. So at least they were honest. My dad wanted the surgery, then we met the surgeon and they had him fill out some paper work before we could leave and now we have the surgery date scheduled. It was busy that day I guess. We had to wait about 15 minutes before going into the first exam room, they did some stuff and then 30 minutes for the eye drops to work to dilate his pupils, went to another room to see the first doctor and then 10 minutes between seeing the first doctor and the surgeon. It looks like a really new and clean building, and the people who work there are nice. It is probably busy because they have good results. Well see.

Please take the time to read! Dr. J De La Torre and his staff are exceptional and professional in all they do; I started seeing Dr JDLT in September of 2014 after waking with most of my vision gone. Through his intense research, care, and expertise he was able to determine that I was suffering from an autoimmune related condition. He personally got on his cell phones and begin making calls asking doctors to see me. He and Dr Ellman came into the office on a Saturday and Sunday just to see me and ensure that I would not have permanent eye damage due to the medical condition. While I too have experienced the wait, and can see where certain areas of patient care and office procedures can be streamlined, I would still recommend SWEI to anyone due to their desire to help and fulfill their duties as medical professionals.

Priceless experience from day one until now. I met Dr de la Torre after my mom had cataract surgery with Dr Ellman by the way he is a awesome Dr too. I asked Dr. de la Torre if I could qualify for Lasik. My main goal was to be able to see close and far with out glasses. He proposed doing my vision a mono vision. I asked him what is that? he stated "your predominant eye will be your eye for far sight and the other eye will be your close distance eye"" He tested my vision and he said I was a good candidate for the procedure. Surgery day came and my vision is now incredible. I want to thank Patty the Dr assistance for his patience and support. The surgery will change your life.

This place is outstanding!! I have never been to an office where they took such good care of us. My wife and I scheduled our visit for complete eye exams and consultations for laser correction. Overall, we were seen by like 4 specialist doctors that day and a complete set of tests. I was impressed that I didnt have to wait and go see another doctor in a different office as they were all in one place. The office is very high tech and I like knowing my doctor is on the front end of technology. I felt we received an honest opinion as Dr. Ellman spend an enormous amount of time with us (for a doctor) and explained that he didnt recommend surgery yet.

In February 2017 I arrived in El Paso, TX from Canada and had a problem with the retina in my left eye. While we have good health in care in Canada in terms of payment I have never received better medical care in Canada than I received by Doctor Ellman and his associates. He came in on a Saturday to see me urgently and made a follow up appointment for Monday with himself and a retina specialist. Never have I received such immediate care or better personal care. Southwest Eye Institute is second to none and I thank the whole staff for my eye care. Regards, David Cartwright Canada

After suffering from cataracts for many years, my mother went here for surgery. They were attentive, kind, and gentle. My mother has gone from having seriously impaired vision and needing glasses her entire life to 20/25 vision in just over a week. My entire family is thrilled with the treatment we received here, and will trust them with any other procedures we may need in the future. The entire staff is worthy of praise as they helped us along through each step and aftercare.

I showed up at 9:10 for a 9:30 appointment for a follow-up to my sons eye injury. I didnt get seen until 11:30. The Dr spent just under two minutes telling me that everything was fine and his eye was healing up well. On top of that, 2 people who showed up 30-45 minutes after our scheduled appointment time were seen before we were. Very frustrating and unprofessional!

I called for an eye exam. My appointment was for 1PM. After a 3 hour wait, they told me I had dry eye which I already knew. Then told me they dont do eye exams anymore. Why wasnt I told that when I made my appointment? Sat here for 3 hours, used up my insurance yearly exam benefit, only to have to go somewhere else for exam for glasses.

Dr. Ellman took me as an add-on late in the day. His staff did comprehensive testing to diagnose my problem. Dr. Ellman offered treatment options to include surgery. Ill schedule as soon as I can. This was all wrapped up within an hour. I could not have had a better experience.
