Our family have been patients of San Gabriel Eye Center for over 30 years. Both Dr. McCain (husband and wife) and Dr. Schaefer are wonderful! Clinically, they are experts in the field of ophthalmology. Their patient care and treatment is a top priority and goes well beyond the norm. My father had a retinal tear on a holiday and Dr.Scaeffer immediately dropped everything and met my dad at his office. Within three hours of the call, my dad had the laser treatment to fix the tear. Today, we had to see Dr. John McCain urgently for my son who had torn the cornea off both his eyes. We had seen a Scott and White ER physician and a referral to a Scott and White opthamologist with NO treatment success, we were told to take an aspirin and deal with it. We finally saw Dr. McCain after HE took the iniative to call US and check on my son. He provided us with a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan which provided the relief my son needed from the excruciating pain caused by the corneal abrasions. They are one of the few clinics and doctors in town we trust as a family. Thank you to everyone at San Gabriel Eye Center in Georgetown, Texas.

For my contact lens fitting, the doctor incorrectly measured my BC causing many days of discomfort and annoyance. My sister experienced the same exact problem. The incorrect measurement causes the lens to constantly float around. Also, when we checked out we had many issues with the receptionist not understanding what was covered by our insurance provider, which led to much confusion. We ended up getting bills in the mail from them stating that we both owed more money, because they failed to notify us in the first place when we had our exam that we had to pay extra for a contact fitting.

Have been a long-time customer with many eye exams and pair of glasses over the years. Im sorry to say that I recently switched to another provider due to the frontline optician I have had to deal with over the past 2-3 years. Also, I had a lot of problems with a set of sun glasses that I just could not use because it was difficult to see out of them. After six months of return visits I was sent back to doctor for re-examination. Doctor was rude to me until he realized until he realized he wrote the wrong prescription. The new sunglasses are great.
