I can not recommend this location for your healthcare needs. The wait is very long and the staff is rude. The only person that will be respectful is the actual doctor, who youll see a total of ten minutes of your hour+ visit...with an appointment. I refuse health insurance for myself for two reasons, I am rarely sick and I have the money. Im sick maybe once every couple years. I cant see paying $100 a month, totalling $2400 when I am sick, when a visit cost $118. Now for the real kicker. Since I dont submit insurance I am more aware than others for their charges. Just because I have the money doesnt mean they should take advantage of me, and everyone else including the insurance providers. I went for a minor respiratory infection looking for some antibiotics. The nurse used an Oximeter to take my pulse, even though she had a stethoscope around her neck. Then took my blood pressure. No big deal as I have bought all these type of things myself to self analyze before deciding I need to go in. An Oximeter, professional one better than the one they had, cost me $23. I hadnt been to that location for months and they kept sending letters saying "time for checkup this and checkup that" with no mention of a balance due. Then out of the blue I get a "Final Notice" letter saying I owe then $18.75 for services on Feb 2nd. The letter arrived on May 30th. I have opened EVERYTHING they sent to me all of which were just saying its "checkup time" with nothing about a balance due. I guess if you dont come for regular checkups they will go back to your last visit and add charges that were not originally there. My charge was a item number "94760 Pulse Oximeter Single $25". I thought WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!! So because Im not going for these checkups they will stick it to me by charging me to put a $23 device on my finger and charge me $25 to do it! I thought I found a place that was extremely close to my house, because driving sick sucks, but instead I found a bitter office that you cant call directly. "Leave a message and well call you back at a time more convenient for us". I wonder what the insurance companies will think about their devious ways. No telling what they charge these insurance companies for. Its offices like these that have destroyed the American insurance industry. STAY FAR AWAY FROM "TEXAS HEALTH PHYSICIANS GROUP"!!! You have been warned!

I have a question, Dr. Townsend prescribed the 20 mg tab of Xarelto for a blood thinner. This was necessary because I developed a blood clot in June of last year. My medical plan changed this year and I am now paying $317.84 for a 30-day supply as apposed to $25.00 that I was paying last year. Checking with my Medical provider, they indicated a generic equivalent to Xarelto is Simvastatin. If I switched to this drug, my cost would be substantially reduced. This brings me to my question, could Dr. Townsend change my prescription to Simvastatin? Thank you Kent Everson

Great doctor!! Terrible staff. Have been waiting on a cardiologist recommendation for 5 days (3 business days). Got a call yesterday saying they will call today with a rec. No call. This is serious, EKG on yearly physical Friday showed a blockage in the heart. No thanks to staff were on our own finding a cardiologist. Adios.

9 months ago, I visited their office. The Registered Nurse was attention seeking and unprofessional. She used the doctors signature on my documentation, even though I never met him.
