Banfield has very nice staff members, but everyone, even the doctors, are clueless about how to treat animals. We have three cats who havent needed any medical attention for years. One day we notice that all three of them have small rice-like worms covering their fur. Immediately we took them into the Banfield hospital and left one of them for observation. The doctors said they had tapeworms and had us pay $100 a cat for the medication. Only a few days later one our cats began sneezing uncontrolably, blowing her nose and pawing at her face. We took her in again and the doctor said she had an upper respitory infection. I explained that my research indicated that was rare in cats and that she probably had something stuck up her nose. He replied that it was difficult to diagnose when something was stuck up a cats nose and that he didnt have the proper equipment to look. They charged $400 for the visit and the medication. We took her to another vet who used a simple scope to look up her nose and found a blade of grass. He was able to pull it out quickly and easily. A few days later we found a tree in our yard that the worms were dropping out of. Nothing was wrong with the cats, no tapeworms. We asked for a refund but it was refused. Stay as far away from this place as you can!

Was wary coming here because of the previous negative reviews, but figured i would take a chance because the reviews were old. I called at 915a and was able to get an appointment for 930a. I was a little late, but saw the nurse and vet within 15 minutes of my arrival. Both were awesome and worked very well with my dog. Both recommended the things all vets do (food, heart worm prevention, fleas ..etc). There wasnt anything they could do about my dogs broken nail, but let me know all the information about it that i needed to know. Their basic office visit charge with exam is $34, and because the vet couldnt do anything for my dog, that was my only charge. If i decide my dog needs any pain meds, they said i can just call back to request it. Overall i would rate the place 5 stars, everyone i talked to was very nice and you can tell they love animals.

Jesus Christ! I didnt even get past the phone call with these people. I called today to set up an appointment for my 2 dogs. I was speaking to the receptionist and mid conversation she put me on hold and left me there for 10 minutes. Some guy answered the phone and asked if I had been helped. I told him I was on hold waiting for whichever girl was helping me. His response was no sir I have this call now. So there I went on having to repeat myself letting him know my dog was a male and he kept on having me repeat myself over and over while referring to my male dog as a she even after I corrected him. After a bit I found figured that these people are so incompetent that they cant even handle a phone call why would I trust them with my dogs. I called the South Park meadows location and the sweet girl who answered helped me quickly .

The staff is very friendly, the vets seem knowledgable. My biggest complaint is the cost. The puppy wellness plan is a huge waste of money, DONT DO IT!!! Friends of mine with pets have all told me what their vets cost and I am paying so much more, even with my "money saving plan". I recommend just going to a local vet that will truly care about the health of your pet and charge more reasonable prices. Banfield is just too expensive, period.

Im not trying to invalidate anyone elses experience, but I havent had a problem with this Banfield so far. Have seen both the vets, they both seem decent and caring. Staff helped us stay on top of Wellness plans and vaccinations, as well as placing reminder phone calls. PetsMart facility is a little older, but its OK. Their staff is nice too.

The veterinarians and the office were both very nice. My one complaint us with their website. Its very frustrating to spend time making an appointment online only to be told that there arent any open times at all on that day! I dont get many days off, so I need to be able to set up an appointment one time. Not after several games of phone tag.

Refused to see my dog for an emergency, and then was more worried about getting paid then helping my beloved companion. I begged and they told me to go to the emergency hospitals 30 miles north or south. Life is tough but dont take it out on the animals. Kyle Medina

The staff is really nice and the vet was thorough and answered all of my questions about my new kitten. Im only giving them 4 stars because I dont like that you have to commit to the wellness plan for a full year with no way out.

I love the staff and the care but it seriously is a waste of money! I only agreed to a year and they automatically renewed my contract! I called to cancel and they wouldnt let me off my contract or give me a refund!

Do not do the puppy wellness plan unless you have stacks of cash laying around compared to litterally every vet in this area they are way to much. Other than that if you rich go for it they do a good job.

I have taken all three of my pets to this location and I have been happy with every appointment. The staff and vets are very friendly and explain everything thoroughly.

I agree. The staff is nice, but the level of treatment is poor. I regret putting my puppy on the wellness plan there and do not recommend them for any care.

This location is so rude. If you have a question call any other location but San Marcos. Terrible phone etiquette. Not getting my $$
