Im a CNA and my hiring experience was almost exactly the same as the review of the other CNA that has posted! I called and inquired about a job and was hired immediately no questions asked because I was referred by another employee. I went to "orientation" where I filled out paperwork and was assigned some clients. I will say that they did send me to complete a background check. I worked for them for approximately seven months and their communication was very lacking not that Im claiming that mine is perfect. I was also required to perform tasks beyond the Utah states scope of practice. After I had no longer been working there I was looking for a job at a skilled nursing facility and the company called ACH for a reference and the girl that ended up hiring me let me know that ACH said horrible things about me. This led me to call and do a reference check on myself and they totally drug my name through the mud, legally they are only supposed to say whether or not Im eligible for rehire. If I was a petty person I would have recorded the conversation and took it to court. They also never gave me my last check and sent me a letter stating that they wouldnt until I sent in progress notes that I didnt have access to as they were at clients homes. Due to my experience as an employee of ACH my feeling is that CNAs are much better off working in a facility where more training, guidance and structure are available.

I am a CNA and I was looking for a new job working as a CNA. I saw an ad for A Caring Hand hiring on Craigslist and replied with a resume. One of their directors replied inviting me to orientation the following week. We didnt set up a time for any kind of interview or anything. I came to the orientation and was immediately given a packet on a clipboard to start filling out new employee papers. I was in a room with a few other CNAs, some heavily pierced and tattooed. None of us had been interviewed at all, we were all just given paperwork and hired immediately. As soon as we were done we were led to the scheduling room and were assigned residents. This was all done without any interview questions, training, or background checks. If you are looking for an at home care service, do not trust A Caring Hand. They will send people they dont even know into your families homes. I know if I had someone taking care of a Grandparent, I would want the company to at least interview their CNAs, and then train them. But not A Caring Hand. Beware.

Hi C Lords, Im really sorry to hear of the experience that you had with the HR department of our company. The experience you had is not the norm and we have since made sure to clarify the expectations of our employees. We ensure that every employee has an interview where we verify that they are a good fit for our company and clients. A Caring Hand does a background through the Utah Department of Health on every employee that works for our company so that we can maintain a level of safety with our clients. If you have any other concerns or would like to talk about this further, feel free to email me.

I love a caring hand. They have great people. A little understaffed right now because they are filtering through their employees and becoming more strict on policy. My husband now works as a CNA for them and is recognized as one of their top employees. Going through an employee change always takes a toll on a business and productivity until everyone is trained the way they should be.

Caring hands has been the key to my daughters independence. They are a wonderful personal care company! Josh at the Sandy office will bend over backwards to help anyone. Thank you for giving her showers, cleaning up her room, and helping her out in so many ways for the last 2 and 1/2 years!
