We brought our rescue dog to Centreville Animal Hospital, where weve been taking our other rescue puppy for years. They checked him out, were actually able to pull his records from his last owners, and treated him exceptionally well. In fact theyd kenneled him, and knew him well, greeting and loving on him. / / He had particularly bad teeth, and we found out that they had already told his previous owners that they needed to be taken care of. The vet told us exactly how much it would be for each extraction (if necessary) and laid out the costs of the cleaning. Originally the vet said she would probably have to do multiple extractions, but when she got in there, she didnt need to do any. If they were only interested in money, they would have pulled some of my dogs teeth instead of telling us they were fine and only needed a cleaning. / / Sure, they may ask for your credit card over the phone, but only after youve done a procedure and need to pay. They lay out the costs - both certain and anticipated - before any procedures, and get you to sign off on them. They even give the option of calling you with any additional charges that come up to be sure you approve them. Its a business like any other. It costs what it costs, but the vets & techs do care. / / They explained everything to us before the procedure, had us say goodbye, told us that theyd keep and monitor him for several hours after the procedure. And the vet called me immediately after finishing the procedure to explain everything to me and tell me how Molson was doing. / / Also, getting appointments is easy and quick. I just called and got a same-day appointment.

One of my cats had a bladder infection which started in the middle of the night. I called in first thing in the morning and was offered a variety of times to bring her in. Doctor Crystal Taylor was excellent. The care was first rate. Diagnosis was fast, possible issues were ruled out, decisions were made regarding treatment and we were updated during the day regarding her progress. We went to pick her up later in the day and received or biggest surprise. We are new to Centreville Animal Hospital and came from a large vet that didnt separate the cats from the dogs. Our cat would come back to us stressed and upset from the prior vet which was always distressing. Yesterday we learned that our cat needed to be woken up as she was sleeping so deeply in the "Cats Only" part of the hospital. This was after she also had her claws clipped about an hour before we picked her up. Our cat has never felt comfortable enough to sleep in a vets office in the 8 years she has been with us. I was completely stunned to see a cat brought out to us that was curious, happy to see my husband and I and completely calm. On the way home she immediately started looking through her carrier out the window and seemed back to her old self. I cannot say enough about this Animal Hospital and the quality of care that they give to the pets in their care. Its not about the money at this hospital. Its about your pet. Their comfort, their care and their future wellbeing.

We took our cat and dog here for many years and believed they were getting adequate care. Our cat was 17 years old and we dearly loved him. We boarded him with them because we thought he would get good medical care if he needed it. He had a complete check up at Centreville Animal Hospital two weeks before we went on vacation for ten days and was given a clean report. We called several times to check up on him and were told he was doing fine. Then, on Monday morning after we had been away for a week we called to get another check up. Again, we were told he was active, eating, and doing quite well. Just minutes later we got a call from his vet saying that he was lethargic and had not eaten his food. We rushed home (a four hour drive) to find that he was near death. His vet recommended that we take him to a special emergency hospital in Vienna. She made us pay his boarding bill plus a bill for his emergency medical care of more than $800. We were in shock and took him to the hospital were he died the next morning. We firmly believe that Centreville Aninal Hospital completely neglected him during the weekend. They lied to us the Monday we called simply because it was easy to say that he was well. I give the vet credit for checking up on him two minutes later but by then it was too late. I would not recommend boarding any animal with Centreville Animal Hospital and I question the ethics and honesty of their staff.

I took my dog on an emergency visit and after being their for two hours waiting on her status I was told I had to take her to an emergency facility where emergency surgery had to be performed. They did check in with me periodically on how she was doing. They made a call to poison control on my behalf, when they neglected to tell me it would cost me over 90 dollars. They had no idea how to treat my dog because I could hear their conversation. They stated that they gave her charcoal and she didnt even need to have it. I feel that I was taken advantage of in my vulnerable state because I felt I was going to lose my dog forever. My bill ended up being 457 dollars there and I was so numb from the tears that I willingly paid it. I called my vet back home and though the situation was needed to be taken care of, it wasnt an urgent procedure and could wait a day. Centreville animal hospital quoted that I would have to pay close to $4,000 dollars to save my dog and I drove my dog three hours away to only be charged 250-300 bucks for her overall care and the procedure to extract the toxin she ingested and to have her spayed. She is currently being taken care of in Oakland, MD and all is well but I feel that I went through a very upsetting ordeal because they didnt know how to treat my dog. Needless to say I wont go back and I would gladly drive three hours away to get superb care for my pet at an affordable cost.

My two 13 year old dogs needed their annual examinations, vaccines and lab work brought up to date, and their teeth cleaned. As in the past the staff at CAH handled these requests with compassion, courtesy, promptness and professionalism. The dogs were examined, vaccinated and samples taken for laboratory testing while kindness, treats, and kind words were in evidence. Dr. Pollack and her staff handled the two older dogs the way I have over the years. The lab results were phoned to me the next day and an appointment for the teeth cleaning was made for the following week. As I dropped the dogs off in the early morning, at least three staff members greeted them by name and made them feel as comfortable as possible. In a few hours I received a phone call telling me that all went as expected and the two dogs were almost ready to come home. When I picked them up later, the dogs were anxious to see me and ready to travel home with a little slower than normal reflexes which was explained by staff members verbally and in the discharge instructions. The whole two day experience was as I have enjoyed in over 40 years with Centreville Animal Hospital. I was privileged to own this animal hospital for many years, and work with many fine people and pets. I still see the level of animal care to be practiced at the high level Centreville’s pet owners and their pets expect and deserve.
