I cant begin to explain my complete and utter disappointment in this Vet. I was recommended by a family member who had nothing but good things to say about this practice initially. I set up an appointment because my dog had blood in her stool and urine. After meeting with the Vet and having a urinalysis done, she prescribed a prescription and set me up for a follow up. I missed the second appointment and had to reschedule for the following week in which I met with a second vet. Again, I had to pay for the vet visit and another urinalysis to be done in which he prescribed a different prescription and did mention that is could possibly be stones in her bladder if the medication didnt take care of the infection this time. The medication seemed to work and my pup has been fine for the last couple months. We noticed last weekend that she had some blood in her urine again so I called the vet and asked to speak with someone and that even though I was okay with a different vet looking at her for the follow-up visit I would like to have one vet for my dog. I received a phone call this morning from a third vet with whom I had never spoken to and apparently is the owner, and the second we began our conversation he was extremely defensive and combative. It is extremely stressful knowing your pet is not in perfect health and it can be very expensive. The LAST thing I need is a Doctor/Owner who has never seen my pet nor ever had a conversation with me attack me on the phone like this issue is due to my negligence. I was simply calling to set up another appointment and voice my concern about having too many different vets, I wanted one person to look after my dog going forward. Before we could get into the conversation he very rudely told me that I had been in twice for a UTI and that I had denied xrays twice so what were they to do. I stopped him and told him that not ONCE did I deny an xray. It was mentioned to me on the second visit that an xray may be the next step if the medication did not work, I was under no impression that it was necessary at the time nor was it presented in that way. His response was "well Im looking at the charts right now and it says you denied it." I asked him to check his tone with me and that I should be respected as a client. I explained to him again, that was not the situation and again got the response that it was "in the charts." I was so furious and saw that he had no desire to see the point of the call which is to GET MY DOG HEALTHY, I told him I would be finding another vet and hung up. After calming down I called back and spoke to another woman to voice my concern who was EQUALLY as rude. All this place could do was read the charts back to me and tell me maybe I should find another vet. I am beyond insulted to be treated this way and will gladly find another vet who will understand the frustration of a pet owner and try to help fix the problem rather than point fingers. I dont care what the charts say, I dont care whats happened in the past, I want to bring my dog in and get anything done necessary to get her back to full health. Interesting enough, the person that recommended me initially is also no longer seeing this vet after 2 or 3 visits as well. Shame on you Tuckahoe Vet, and shame on how you are running your practice.

All I know is that I paid $282 for an xray after my dog had a tragic accident. Then they sent me to an emergency vet clinic that couldnt help me because I didnt qualify for CareCredit. So I called my regular vet, Dr. Taylor, and they were more than willing to help, regardless of my financial situation. Upon arriving, they looked at the x-rays from this vet and said they had only done x-rays on the front half of his body when he obviously couldnt walk whatsoever on his back legs when I had been to Tuckahoe vet. Dont get me wrong they were very nice and supportive when I brought him in and even gave me a call back the next day to see how he was doing but again, why did I pay almost $300 for incomplete x-rays? To make matters worse, his back leg is broken, badly, and I dont understand how a competent vet couldnt see or at least think to do x-rays on his hind legs from examining him. I shouldve driven the 15 minutes to get to my vet instead of wasting 2 hours for nothing when my dog was in excruciating pain. I feel cheated and if 0 stars were an option they would be getting that.

I have been using Tuckahoe Vet for more than 25 years. Dr. O"Neill is one of the most knowledgeable and devoted veterinarians ever. Not only does he treat all of my pets with his full and complete attention, but he also finds time in his packed schedule to volunteer his skills and time to homeless animals in need. He is especially knowledgeable about golden retrievers and labs, as he has, over time, adopted a couple of golden retrievers with serious health issues, then performed surgery on them, and they continued to live to be about 15 - 16 years old ! There are always a couple of cats in the office that have taken up residency from a previous homeless state, and at one time there was an elderly golden retriever that greeted clients. He clearly loves his patients, and has a wonderful, gentle disposition that is evident to his patients and their parents. HIs staff is also very warm and friendly. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a reputable, skilled, and caring veterinarian.

We have been extremely pleased with our service at Tuckahoe Veterinary Hospital. Having done a fair amount of research before carefully choosing Tuckahoe as my pets vet, they have truly lived up to my expectations. The entire staff is very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. Our dog has a number of health concerns, so Ive been a frequent visitor/caller over the past 3 years weve been with Tuckahoe Vet. Each point of contact has been a positive experience. Dr. ONeill is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. He doesnt always tell me the answer I want to hear, but rather what I need to hear and it is clear that my pets health is his up-most concern. On top of great service and expertise, Tuckahoe Vet has reasonable prices and does not recommend unnecessary procedures or expenses.

We had recently moved into the area and took our Precious (dog) to this office and was very impressed with Dr. ONiell and the staff. Sadly a couple months later we took Precious back to Dr. ONiell knowing this time that my sweet baby would not be going home with us. Dr. ONiell and his staff could not have been more compassionate, empathetic, gentle and kind. Stayed with us until she gently passed away and then gave us time alone with her. They made all the arrangements to have my sweet girl cremated for me. I did not have to worry about any of the details. I have never experienced an animal hospital so truly caring about the animals they treat and their humans. I highly recommend this Animal Hospital, you will not regret your decision to take your darlings there.
