My experience today was one of the worst Ive ever had. I was going to them as a second opinion, so perhaps that gave me less importance. I dropped off paperwork, and the vet there said for me to come in later with my cat. I had an appointment for Monday, but my cat looked like he was failing fast, and I was hopeful I could get some sort of diagnosis, so I jumped at the chance. My cat and I waited two hours in an examining room with him getting worse and worse. After two hours I went to look for the vet. He was just standing there with his colleagues, as if he had all the time in the world. He gave a perfunctory apology, but coldly suggested I should get my cat to the emergency room and put on an IV. He said that without an exam, and also, if he believed that, why did he keep me and my cat waiting two hours? He also referred to my cats pancreatitis, but my cat has yet to get a pancreatitis diagnosis. A terrible thing to go through when youre losing a beloved pet. I live in a small town...have never written a negative review for any business here, but this will remain in my memory. Its hard enough to lose a pet.

Dr. Feitz is fantastic with my dog and is honest and straight forward when explaining problems and possible treatments. My dog doesnt enjoy being handled by strangers, but Dr. Feitz does his best to not unduly stress my dog and works hard to make each visit as positive an experience as possible for both me and my dog. Not all vets are this dog savvy or gentle! I have also boarded my dog here and while it isnt cheap (actually, its probably about average for Charlottesville), the staff takes really good care of my dog (including following feeding instructions) and he always comes home looking and smelling great. The staff actually seem really happy to see him when he comes in for appointments and boarding, which is really a bonus to me. Overall, after having used them for the last ~2 years, I have to say I really recommend them.

Ive been going to Gtown Vets for 15 years. Now with my low maintenance cat, Lucy. For most of that time I brought my beloved tiny toy poodle, Téa, and Dr Peppard helped her (and me!) navigate her many health issies. Im pretty sure she had the heaviest file, probably outweighed her. Dr Peppard was the best! So great with her and so patient with me. He was there til the end. For a time he kept a photo of her on his desk, really sweet. And I also have to say my experience with Dr Fietz was great. My (then) guy had a dog take a bad turn. He got down on the floor with us, looked Shiva over and told us to skip the expensive tests we bought her in for. He said to keep her comfortable and wed know soon when it was time. And we did. The techs and staff were always friendly and helpful. Wish I liked my Drs practice as much!

I cant speak for the other vets at Georgetown, but my personal experience with Dr. Handley has been outstanding. My first visit was several years ago when I had a cat who was clearly in great pain and distress and nothing the previous vet had done had worked. A complete misdiagnosis was corrected by Dr. Handley quickly and efficiently. I immediately moved the care of my remaining animals (4 cats and a dog) to Dr. Handley and have never regretted it. Several friends have now also moved to her practice and are equally satisfied. I can only presume that the rest of the vets are also of quality, and the front staff are certainly competent and pleasant.

Weve brought our cat Sophie here for both routine care and an emergency, and have nothing but great things to say about every staff member. Our kitty seems to love the way the vet techs fuss over how cute she is. Dr. Stone was wonderful when Sophie had an emergency situation last week and was able to address our concerns with both compassion and competence, and we appreciated that she wanted to be thorough and careful while also pursuing the most conservative treatment options first. We know well be moving in the not too distant future and we so wish we could take Dr. Stone with us!

We have been going to Dr. Handley for 13 years, and she has taken care of all four of our dogs. She and her staff clearly love taking care of animals and understand how important pets are to the people whom they love and love them. From minor injuries to surgeries and end of life care, Dr. Handley has been there to give outstanding care to our dogs. Simply the best vet. In addition, the vet technicians are superb - gentle with the dogs, but clearly in charge. They also fuss over the dogs, who, being the original attention hounds, eat it up.

Its been great with all the vets Ive seen there. A long time ago I used to have a parrot who I took to Dr.Peppard (we switched to an avian vet after a specialist moved to town but nothing against Georgetown), then I inherited a mean old cat from my grandmother, also saw Dr. Peppard. Now we have a puppy weve had for about 6 months, and weve seen Dr. Peppard and a couple of other docs for various things. Her spaying operation went well and everything else has been good. It is $$$ but thats all vets these days so...

Dr. Peppard and his team are absolutely WONDERFUL! He is practical and will tell you what is really best for the animal, not what is best for the vets cash register. He explains what might be happening, what is most common, and tells you all your treatment options so you can make a decision about what if best for your animal. He is a true animal lover and I wouldnt trust anyone else with my pets!! (I am sure the rest of the Doctors there are wonderful as well, we just have experience with Dr. Peppard)

Despite the amazing reviews of this hospital, I was rather disappointed with my experience. I brought my cat in who has chronic respiratory issues and it wasnt more than 2-3 visits that they then referred me to a specialist, which is extremely expensive. When switching to my new vet, I also found out that the prednisone dose they were giving my cat was not nearly enough to make a difference.

Dr. Donnie Peppard and his assistants recently helped my family to humanely say goodbye to our much loved chocolate lab Mya. The level of compassion demonstrated by Dr. Peppard and his staff to Mya and Us was truly quite amazing. In that very sad day for us there was this bright light from those at Georgetown Vet that we will always remember. Truly Outstanding!!!

Everyone there is extremely nice and knowledgeable. My dog, Riley, is skittish around other people at times but feels very comfortable and relaxed whenever we go in to Georgetown. Dr. Peppard is especially great. I would recommend Georgetown to anyone in search of a great veterinary experience!

Appreciate the Vets and the techs for their dedication and courtesy but the receptionists are such mean snots! They dont greet you, they stare at you making me feel very unwelcomed. Only reason I keep coming back is because I havent really had the time to check out other vet clinics.
