I have a kitten who is now approaching nine weeks old. I received him when he was only two weeks old and had to be bottle fed around the clock. I hired a sitter for the Kitten while I was away at work. One of the days while I was working, the little kitten some how managed to get a severe head injury, and the sitter wasnt quite sure how it occurred. The Tuesday evening of the mysterious head injury( which I do not linger on wondering how it happened, as it was a very traumatic experience for the kitten and myself to deal with..) I took the kitten to the Emer. Vet in Winchester ( the one just past the golden corral), where I really feel they were without compassion and only interested in how much I could pay them. They had no interest in the welfare of my furry one. The Vet at that clinic was throwing me thousands of dollar estimates...Which I just could not afford. I was only working with about $500.00 at that time..Needless to say, the medicine they gave to him didnt work at all to reduce the swelling (mannitol), and the pain medication (buprenex) they prescribed made the kitten have horrible seizures on top of the ones he was already experiencing from the head trauma, they also prescribed an antibiotic (clavamox) which made him vomit. Regardless of the medications, the seizures continued on and off for over 24 hours, and the kitten seemed extremely "out of it". If he wasnt having a major seizure, he was having "partials" in between.... There was no doubt in my mind I was going to have to put him to sleep...I called out of work that Thursday, and decided NOT to go back to that horrible Vet in Winchester....I called around, and someone referred me to the Animal Medical Center off Aylor Road in Stephens City. I brought my kitten there expecting not to leave with him that day....But, Dr. Shelly Hoffman DVM, questioned my decision to euthanize ( which not many vets would do, in my experience.)...She believed he had a fighting chance and recommended an all natural remedy to reduce the swelling and stop the seizures.....AND IT WORKED FANTASTICALLY!!! I saw immediate improvement the morning after, and the seizures had stopped, the swelling on the brain reduced significantly, and my kitty became normal again!!! AND the office visit was very reasonable financially!!! I really feel that Dr. Hoffman cares about her patients, she is so compassionate! Marvelous! Brilliant!! If it wasnt for her, I wouldnt have my adorable kitty today. I really feel she saved my little Djangos life. I would recommend her to anyone!

I brought my dog in on a Saturday to have a geriatric blood profile done on her. I was told that the results of that profile would be in on Tuesday and I would be contacted by a doctor. I still had not heard from a doctor by Thursday, so I called the office and was told by the receptionist that a doctor would call me that day. I did not get a call. I called the following day and the staff acknowledged that they did not return my call as promised the day before, then assured me a doctor would return my call that day, and failed to do so again. When they finally got back to me (Saturday), I was told my dog needed further labwork and to drop her off that upcoming Friday. The doctor gave me a price quote over the phone. I took the day off of work to get my dog to them on Friday, and when I arrived, I found that her procedure was not even scheduled in their books. They did manage to work me in, as they should have, and they had me sign the paperwork and leave my dog with them. They called me after her procedure was over and let me know that she was ready to be picked up, and that they had misquoted me and it was going to cost over $150 more than what I had been told initially. Only after arguing with them, did they decide they would be willing to come down on the bill total. There was a misunderstanding between myself and the doctor, and I thought they were going to eat the whole cost. I left that day thinking that I did not have a bill. Not three days later did I have an invoice in the mail for half the cost of the procedure. I found it very interesting that they had no issues rapidly communicating to me that I owed them money, yet, I had to hound them for my dogs initial lab results that had been paid for on day one. I paid the invoice and have gone elsewhere for my dogs continued treatment. When I trust a business with the welfare of my pet, I have high expectations, as should anyone else. I understand that veterinary services can be costly, and I am more than willing to pay for what I get. I do not feel like I received proper treatment. I understand that little slip ups happen, but I found it to be ridiculous that they continued to happen in my experience. They should have called me with the correct quote before they even touched my dog. I felt there was a major lack of communication between the doctors and receptionists and was a very disgruntled client.

Since the beginning… (1998)… I have been 100% satisfied with the care, compassion, knowledge, treatment and overall customer service for my pets and myself at Animal Medical Center!! Upon acquiring my first furry love; Morgan, (1998-2012) a Cocker Spaniel puppy. I immediately set out to find a veterinarian clinic with a reputation of reliability, trustworthiness, knowledge and convenience. With an overall personal expectation of excellence in all areas of service to their four-legged patients and their two legged owners. Without a doubt; in 1998 I found that and still today in 2016 the excellent care provided by all members of the staff at AMC clearly stands alone! While the building no longer looks the same (due to a massive renovation) and the staff of professional veterinarians has increased. The main components have remained consistent throughout.....Dedication & Devotion to the Profession in all aspects of care, Excellent Customer Service & a Willingness to go "Above & Beyond". They are the reasons I continue to bring my furry four legged children to AMC. An will share/recommend to anyone asking, "where & why should I take my Beloved animal?" You ALL Rock! You are APPRECIATED! Finally, THANK YOU !!! (Can never be enough) Connie Showers (client/owner) Izzy

We have only had 2 dogs in the last 26 years. One passed at age 12 hit by a car and our current dog is 14. In Dec. he went down and was unable to get up. We took him to the pet ER which was our only alternative since it was in the evening. Basically wanted to expect us to spend approx. 1,000 on tests even though he was 14. Took him to Animal Medical Center on a friend recommendation. After spending about a 1/2 hr with Dr. Roe, I was encouraged that our dog was going to be ok for whatever time he had left. No one blood test or any other test was ordered and he was put an a medication to help his arthritis. Then we had to deal with a seizure problem and we were prepared to put him down. But no Dr. Sue assured us he was not that bad. So 3 different meds for a few weeks should give him some relief. After 1 day no more seizures and hes back to his happy self. Even if we have him for a few more months, his quality of life will be good! The staff has always been kind and understanding and wonderful!!!!! THANK YOU for caring and not trying to do unnecessary testing~~ If you need a wonderful Vet GO HERE FOR SURE!!!!!!!!
