We had a traumatizing experience bringing my dog here around 6am a week ago. She required surgery and sutures for deep cuts to the metacarpal pad and carpal pad: $437.00 was their lowest estimate without the bloodwork. This place is open 24 hours but we had trouble getting attention, as there wasnt anyone at the front desk. In addition, they improperly bandaged our dog to control the bleeding which exposed tendons above her carpal pad. The nurse told us that is was okay if it wasnt bleeding, although our dogs tendons were visibly hanging out. Furthermore, we were told that they would return our dog to us after weighing her. After waiting almost 2 hours for her return, they advised us that her surgery (that we were unaware of) was compete but had trouble waking her up. They gave our dog a sedative about the dosage that they would give to a Great Dane and a "baby dose" of the reversal. I had to carry our 57lb dog out of the hospital around 10am. I stayed by her side all day and she didnt recover until almost 4pm. Lastly, they forgot to give us her medicine after we paid in full for all of care that she received. We were told to bring her back the following day for a post exam and rebandage. The earliest appointment was 4pm. This broke the spirits of my wife and I and we decided against returning to this place. The reasons Im giving 2 stars is because it is a clean and kept hospital. Also, Dr. McKenna from the 2nd shift that we saw gave us more hope than what we felt from the beginning.

Your milage may vary since they have a lot of different vets, but my experience was very poor. Ive been to greenbrier emergency twice, called this place on a whim and they quoted slightly lower fees, so I figured why not. When I got there I realized why not. Very salesy. Vet missed some details about my cat during exam. Didnt get to see my cat during the two hour sales pitch, never brought into an exam room. And made to feel guilty when denying extra invasive treatment. The sales tactics are bizarre too. They seem to think the longer they keep you waiting, the more invested and compelled you feel to spend more $$. Exam and x rays with other animals present took me close to two hours I want to say. I was never once pushed or sold into extra stuff at greenbrier. You pay more up front or you pay later. Going to a vet to save $10-20 on an exam typically ends up costing more. Two stars just cuz 1) The xray turned out to be pretty inexpensive since she was willing to take just one and 2) The receptionist was very kind when I called, and also very nice to my cat at checkout giving her some free calming pheromone for all her stress. But by the time I left I was exhausted and it was the middle of the night. Took so much longer than necessary. Anytime you enter a medical office and its filled with expensive flashy decor, immediate red flag. Youre paying for all that. Greenbrier is bare bones and honest in my experience.

I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism when I called their office this evening. The man who answered the phone, according to him, is "the owners fiance.", so apparently that means that you are not permitted to ask questions. I simply asked a question and made a statement about a previous practice exercised by the office and instead of being professional about the fact that he did not agree with my statement , he simply hung up on me. I would add that I was completely polite and said nothing that was unkind or rude by any means. I was flabbergasted that an adult who is supposed to be a professional acted in such a childish way. I used this office for years but as the years went on, I began seeing the office moral deteriorate which is why I had already switched Vets for all of my animals. Animal Medical Center is AWESOME and way more reasonably priced. I was only calling VETSS tonight due to an emergency situation. Im very glad that Greenbriar Vet office offers emergency service as well because this is where I will be going from now on for after hour needs. I am huge on customer service and this simply does not meet my expectations. For the prices, I would expect to be treated with more respect.

A day after moving to Virginia my cat ended up with a horrible infection that needed to be treated right away, I quickly had to find a local vet to have him treated. After reading reviews on-line, I chose a vet in Madison. After 3 checkups/visits with my three pets, I swore I would never go back due to the extreme lack of customer service that was provided. I am amazed that they are able to stay in business. Enough about that...I have since brought my dog to VETSS and have been thankful for making the switch. After having brought our dog for her yearly checkup and vaccinations, I am confident that we made the right choice! The VETSS staff have been consistently upbeat, friendly, courteous and its clear that they appreciate our business having taken the time to properly explain to us what was needed for our pup and why.

It is always stressful to take your pet to an Emergency Vet, but this experience was very positive. Everyone was professional and introduced themselves to me. They were clear about wait time and upfront about costs. Charlie the technician was thorough in his exam and listened carefully to my description of the situation. Dr. McKenna was extraordinary. He was thorough, explained what he was thinking the diagnosis could be and discussed how to proceed with the workup. Once the diagnosis was made he explained current treatment, expected time to see improvement, and how to recognize recurrence of the condition. Charlie explained the medications and side effects. Cost was very reasonable and there was no push for additional or unnecessary testing. A 5 star rating easily.

What can I say about Dr. Jagger. We had to bring one of our cats there on the weekend, he was having seizures and passing out. Dr. Jagger was amazing, she listened to everything my wife had to say. They were caring and kind and understood the gravity of the situation. They provided us with options and ultimately the only solution was to euthanize an amazing part of our family. Dr. Jagger was professional and showed an amazing amount of empathy. Her and my wife cried together as our little member of our family drifted off to sleep. She consoled us and let us take our time in saying good bye. Just a few days afterwards, we got a handwritten letter from Dr. Jagger saying that we are in her thoughts. The staff at VETSS were amazing.

I cannot say enough about the VETSS staff. They were amazing and we feel so lucky that we found them when our dog became violently sick. His regular vet sent us home and dismissed our concerns.. knowing in our gut something was wrong we took him to VETSS. We were honestly scared that he wasnt going to make it, but the staff was able to diagnose him, treat him, and comfort us until he was good as new in 72 hours. I feel their prices were fair considering we used them as an emergency service. The staff called us twice a day to update us on his condition, and offered support whenever we had questions or concerns. If we didnt live so far away we would no doubt make them our permanent vet.
