So.... the old saying that you only get one opportunity to make a first impression came to mind today. My wife and I moved to the area and were in search of a new vet. After using the same vet for over 30 years, she was looking for not only a quality vet, but a nice, welcoming, and professional staff. We definitely DID NOT find it here! We walked in and immediately noticed the stale urine smell. After walking up to the counter, there was a woman with her back to us faxing papers. We waited... nothing. We talked to each other thinking shed address us... nothing. I coughed.... nothing. Another person came from the back and saw us.. all he said was "oh" and went back into the back. After awhile, the other woman said (with no customer service enthusiasm) "someone will be with you in a minute@. So we waited.... the 2nd employee walked in and out again. So.... we left never to return again and never to recommend this place to anyone. Its a shame we never got to the point of asking about the actual vets! Lesson to this business- no matter how good you are, your front of house can ruin your business!

Clearly some people have been coming to this clinic for decades & are quite happy. However, as a new customer, I consistently felt that my cat & I were blown off & rushed out of the office, without a chance to explain conditions/ask questions. This week I took my cat in; without examining her at all, they simply gave her medication for diarrhea of undetermined causes. The next day, exasperated and with my cat in distress, I took her to another local vet where she was found to need immediate surgery. Both her temperature and white blood cell count were found to be elevated. Had either of these been checked the day before at Potomac Ridge (thats right--they did not even take her temperature), we might have had 24 hours jump on her condition, and she might have been saved a good deal of pain. Im sure they are nice people, but we *will not* be returning to Potomac Ridge.

We have been taking our Schnauzer to Dr. Dunlap since he was 8 weeks old...he turned 9 years this past August 31. He has received the best care throughout those years. We had another schnauzer prior to this one who lived to be just shy of 13 years. I truly feel our dogs both have received excellent care from Dr. Dunlap which has attributed to them LNG and healthy lives.

The vet took his time to examine my dog, and gave us his honest opinions on what he thought the problem was with our dog/daughter. He gave us suggestions and asked us to try it first before getting into costly maybe unnecessary tests& procedures.. Also said if his suggestions didnt work to call back at anytime over the weekend & he would gladly work with us..
