What an incredible place with a great staff! We took our german shepherd to Old Dominion for an emergency vet visit (he tore off a dew claw nail), and we had an incredible experience. A very nice, clean, welcoming place, run by a pleasant and efficient staff. Dr. Buck Drummond saw Ike and he (and everyone else there) was absolutely great with him. Dr. Drummond was very efficient, fully explained the treatment he prescribed (antibiotics, a spray, etc.) and also noticed a few other things that Ike needed (regarding an allergy on his paws). They provided all the medicines we needed, and the bill was reasonable and very easy to understand. We cannot say enough about how much we trusted Old Dominion and Dr. Drummond, and how much we valued his help! Ike is a sweet dog, but he is a handful in a strange situation; the folks at Old Dominion took great care with him and made him feel very much at ease. Were going to consider Old Dominion for pet sitting when we travel.

I would recommend Old Dominion to anyone who loves their animals. Our great dane was sick for two days this summer and the doctors were so thorough and dedicated! They called me after hours to check on him and make sure he was doing ok and the next day, when he hadnt improved, they rechecked him and recommended that I take him to the emergency hospital for monitoring bc they were afraid he might bloat. When we got to the er they confirmed that he wasnt bloating but set him up for overnight monitoring. Sure enough, at midnight I got a call from the Hope Center that our dog bloated, but luckily he was where he needed to be so they took him right into surgery and surgery went perfectly. I hate hate hate to think what might have happened if I hadnt had such good doctors at ODAHC! They even kept my little dog and had someone drive with me to the Hope Center because I was so upset they didnt want me to drive alone. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my pets care!

I brought my new kitten (a feral town cat I found in DE) to ODAH and received SUPERB care from Dr. Felton. He treated her with compassion and cured all of the ailments that came with being a feral kitty as well as sending me off with tips for being a new mommy to a feral kitten (and new kitten package with a free bag of science diet kitten food!). Unfortunately, I ended up moving to Rosslyn and the trip to ODAH is too far for regular visits. I do, however, continue to board my cat there and just love their cat boarding facility. They have two levels and an option of having a "condo" with a window view of outside. The first time I boarded her there they let me go in and see where she was and make sure everything was how it should be. I knew my kitty was in great hands and wish they were located closer to me so I could use them for all of her needs.

I brought my dog in for a check up in which I was not allowed to accompany her to the exam, over my objections because they were "short on time". The vet tech brought her back out and informed me she would need a costly surgery to remove a broken canine. She was then surprised to find another broken canine on the other side of the mouth (how closely did they examine her??), which of course made the surgery more expensive and "pressing". I was given no other options, and NEVER ever met or spoke with the vet who had "cared for" my pet. I immediately made another appointment with Pender Vet in Fairfax (Fantastic!). The vet there patiently went over his exam of my dog and all my options (no surgery needed!). Old Dominion is not worth the price.

Because this practice is located in McLean, maybe price is not an object for most of its clients. However, unlike my current vet, Old Dominion charged for an office visit every time I took my cat in for a shot. This meant that a $30 shot would actually cost me $100. Medicines are also expensive, as are the merchandise in their well stocked pet supply area. Although I dont take my cat there anymore, I have to admit that the whole office is impeccably clean, the doctors are courteous and knowledgeable, and the staff are friendly. In addition, the office also includes a nice boarding facility. If you drive a Mercedes and your cat wears a jewel encrusted collar, then by all means take Mittens to Old Dominion Animal Health Center.

We transferred all three of our cats to Old Dominion Animal Health Center because of many stellar referrals from other veterinarians. Two of our cats had appointments recently. Both visits were extremely positive. One visit was for a routine visit for vaccinations and the other for a stomach issue. In both cases we were seen promptly and the cats were carefully examined. We were impressed by the professionalism of the office staff as well as the veterinarians. This is a family run business, not a large chain business. The warmth of the staff and their obvious concern for the animal as opposed to fees charged was apparent. We would recommend Old Dominion Animal Health Center over any other veterinary clinic in the area.

They do a good job but are wicked expensive. During boarding they charge for everything including every time they give medicine, not just for the pill, but to actually just give it to the dog. Theyre bording charges are ridiculous, they charge by the day not the night, so if you bring your dog in on Tuesday and pick up your dog on Wednesday, you have to pay for two days. Last time I boarded my dog, they charged me $88 for a bath. Finally, their animal prescriptions are just outrageously expensive my last prescription cost $109 there, and I got the refill done for $20 somewhere else.

We had been taking our pet to another vet in DC for a few years and after seeing a several doctors there, we really started liking one in particular - Dr. Drummond. When he left that practice and joined Old Dominion, we followed him. The facility is great - big and clean and lots of parking (a plus compared to the old DC vet we were going to) and Dr. Drummond is still our go to vet! Hes thorough and caring but not an alarmist. Hes as much my therapist as he is our vet. :-) Its not an inexpensive facility, but you get what you pay for.

Recently, I took my new kitten to Old Dominion Animal Health Center for her first check up. From start to finish, the desk staff, technician and doctor were kind, sweet and gentle. They were thorough and efficient. I happened to be in the waiting room when a woman came in with an emergency concerning her cat. All of the employees rallied around her and didnt waste any time assisting her. I was very impressed. So happy we found them. We will definitely be back!

This has been a wonderful experience! Everyone at Old Dominion Animal Center have been accommodating and helpful. The front desk employees were friendly and gave us all the information needed. Lorena, Sharone,Tifanny, and Alicia were all very nice, they understood how anxious we were and helped us feel calm about our new dog. Dr. Fortie was also fantastic! I recommend this organization to animal owners! Veronica
