Dr. Fitzhugh was my OB when we lived in Richmond and I chose him because he was reputed as one of the OBs with the LOWEST cesarean rate. He is a genuine doctor...he is patient and he lets your body take its course, but with a watchful eye. I have seen/heard way too many OBs that rush into labor, induce, or want a c-section due to fear, the unknown or liability and maybe even impatience. I think he doesnt have those fears and makes rash decisions because he steps back to think and seems to have your best interest, not his. He definitely doesnt seem rushed or impatient, which is nice! I liked him as a person too. He was simply really nice. A bit dry, but genuinely kind. :)

Dr. Fitzhugh is an amazing doctor! He is very genuine and truly cares about his patients. I switched to him and Nancy at 32 weeks pregnant and it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I wanted a natural birth and he really believes in a womans body and her natural ability to birth a baby without all the extra stuff. He is wonderful doctor and someone you can trust and the only one that I know of in Richmond that actually delivers all his patients babies!!!

Hands down the best! He covered two natural home births for us, the last being at the Hyatt (now Hampton Inn) in Richmond. He also helped my diabetic sister-in-law deliver two healthy babies. Whatever your concerns or needs from high risk to natural delivery Dr Fitzhugh is 100% with you.
