I am surprised by the negative reviews Ive found for Access! Ive been going to Access for years, probably since about 2010 or 2011, and Ive had no problems at all. The office staff are always very nice, the office itself is so clean and smells fresh, and Ive had no problems with my eye exams, contact exams, or with insurance. Ive been to two of the Fredericksburg locations, and Ive been going to the Stafford location for a couple of years. Dr. Biscombe is great, Ive seen him a couple of times now. The Optical Specialist (I believe thats what her title is), Dottie, is very helpful and is always ready to go over all of the options for contacts/glasses with me. Ive never felt pressured to buy contacts or glasses. Another lady that helped me was very nice as well, I believe her name was Tamyra Adams. I actually found a review somewhere that said Dr. Biscombe was unenthusiastic, which is ridiculous. He is plenty enthusiastic for an optometrist. I go to Access to get my eyes checked and to order contacts/glasses. I dont need anyone to be overly enthusiastic to be satisfied with the service, lol. The building itself is well located, the interior is very modern looking and well designed. The waiting area is comfortable, the individual rooms seem to be well equipped and are comfortable. All three of the Access Eye Centers that Ive been to have had similarly nice interiors. One review that I read had an issue with how the check in desk is set up compared to the desk where you can order glasses/contacts. Not sure what their problem was exactly, you check in at the first desk when you walk in the door. The other desk is on the complete opposite side of the waiting area. I felt a need to leave a positive review since Ive seen so many people who claim to not have had the best experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Access to anyone, and it will stay that way until they do something very wrong (which I dont see happening).

Buyer BEWARE! During my contact lens appointment, Dr. Biscombe was verbally and physically intimidating when questioned about his methods. After my appointment, he insisted that I purchase the RGP contacts and set-up a fitting appointment before he would release the prescription. He insisted it was illegal to do it any other way. After researching, I discovered its quite the contrary. The practice of requiring you to purchase contact lenses before releasing the updated prescription is illegal (Reference VA Board of Optometry - 18VAC105-20-45. Standards of practice. C. Contact lens.) After several discussions with the administrative office, including Michele Mansouri, the owners wife, their decision was that they would not release the prescription and that their office was "not a good fit" for our family. One week later, I am spending time coordinating with my insurance company to ensure Access Eye is not paid so that I can get another contact lens exam with a different doctor. My daughters trial pair of soft contact lenses (again, they wouldnt release the prescription until we scheduled a fitting) took 2 1/2 weeks to come in, and it was another week before she could be seen for the fitting appointment. Due to Dr. Biscombes aggressive behavior and Micheles incredibly poor customer service, my daughter will also be getting a new contact exam. If you need contacts within a reasonable time and you like to order them from an online distributor or a discount store (Costco, Sams, Walmart) be prepared for a huge hassle at the very least.

I was very leery based on other reviews. For me it was a good experience. They were quick, professional, and did a good job. The primary reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is their actual selection of glasses is not as large as I had hoped. I found a pair that I liked but would have preferred more choices. The price was really good, myeyedr charged like 350 and here I paid 160 (note I have eye insurance and it was the same for both). I would have preferred a few suggestions on what would look good on me. I also think an actual sheet of what the options for the glasses are would be helpful. I knew what I wanted but a sheet of all the options (i.e. polarized, tinted, AR coating, etc would have been a little more helpful). Although the person did talk to me about the options so it was not a big deal. The staff were courteous. I went early in the morning and they were professional and courteous but not exceptionally cheery. However when I went to pick up my glasses they were cheery so perhaps just not morning people. But they were not rude in any way as reported by others.

When I initially set up my appointment, I told them I only wanted a refraction and they said "Sure" and scheduled me. When I got there, they told me that they wont do the refraction without the other expensive procedures. Since Im low vision and have some issues with my eyes, Im under the care of a specialist. This means that I get full eye exams every six months from a guy who has more experience and is more well-trained than any of the doctors at Access and is familiar with my history to boot. Access, however, flat out refuses to work with you unless you have a complete examination by one of THEIR doctors (an unnecessary procedure that my insurance will not cover since Im already having those examinations). So, if I just need new glasses (which I do) and just want a refraction, they wont do it. Even if I have my specialist send my files to them directly, they wont do it. Clearly this is so they can charge everyone for the expensive exams - it cant be the insurance because my case history sent FROM MY SPECIALIST would be sufficient for coverage.

There was nothing pleasant about my visit to Access Eye. I arrived for my appointment 15 minutes early and was finally seen 30-45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Nobody offered any explanation as to what took so long, they just didnt make eye contact. Once I was back being seen, the demeanor of the eye doctor left a lot to be desired. My questions were answered in a condescending manner. I wear contacts and, because of this, I had to return to their office after my initial appointment for a follow up fitting. I ended up waiting an hour and a half for this scheduled follow up fitting. I would not recommend that anyone chose this eye center. Id rather give the business to an office where people are pleasant, polite and honor scheduled appointment times.

My children and I have been patients of Access Eye Centers for many years. I had PRK with Dr. Mansouri about 2 years ago and could not be happier. My son loves Dr. Biscombe and prefers to travel to the N. Stafford office. My daughter and I see Dr. Testa now that Dr. Evans left the practice. Dottie, in Optical, is a total ROCK STAR and quite honestly so are the other folks weve encountered at the other locations. THANK YOU so much for taking such good care of us!

I guess I should read reviews first, however I had a good experience. I was able to get my son and I an appointment at the same time and it was his first eye exam so the staff was very pleasant. I do wish i would have researched what my insurance covered because my son needed all the bells and whistles and well, it didnt fit into my budget. Overall it was good though. Maybe frame choices could be better and more of a selection in the cheaper cost category.
