5 stars only because, of the young woman who assesses you before the doctor enters the room. Very nice and showed concern and empathy. And of course Dr. J Clay Simmers. Wonderful doctor. . Wish I could say the same about the appt setter/ receptionist.From making the appt over the phone to the physical visit, she is still the same. Shes not welcoming in any way shape or form. I was about to purchase a second pair of glasses. But she wouldnt even get up from behind the desk. Too busy popping her bubble gum and fixing her already done-up for a night on the town appearance.Non professional appearance. I said let me just go to Walmart for the glasses. Walmart eye specialist were the first to refer me to Shenandoah Optical, great doctor above and beyond high praises!!! But never eludded saying the receps arent very friendly...She was right..I will still come back for the 2 people I mentioned early...The doc and young woman #In just being honest I worked in the customers service/receptionist field for several several years. Youll be amazed at what patience and just being nice will do... It gets you loyal and happy consumers. ...No matter their race sex and origin...

This place has no customer service at all. My husband stopped by b/c the screw that holds his lens in place is stripped and it wants to keep falling out. It takes all of 5 minutes to fix such a thing for any optician/optometrist worth their salt. The receptionist was completely ridiculous. She asked if my husband could leave his glasses there b/c it would take an HOUR! When he said well I cant drive without them and I cant really walk without them she repeated the question. When he said no, she asked if he had a spare pair of glasses and when he said not with me she repeated that it would take an hour and there was nothing she could do. They werent busy, they were just useless. Do not go here!

I have doctored with Dr. Simmers for over 20 years. He has solved serious and minor issues. He is extremely kind, knowledgeable, and I still travel 40 minutes each year to see him. His reputation is excellent!
