Can you give 0 stars? I too made an appointment as a new patient (this was back in January). I found Dr. Luteyn through my insurance as a covered doctor. I made my appointment and a few long weeks later I finally got seen. Luckily I had made appointments with many other doctors so I could find one that worked for me. Over the phone I gave the information as to what my condition was (wont disclose this online). When I arrived I was seen by a "nurse practitioner" who immediately defended herself as just as good as a doctor, just with less schooling, and she was legally able to act as a doctor. (sorry, but this is like letting a first semester architecture major design your house). But this is where it got bad: When I walked into the room, there were sample packs of a prescription. I went over my history and made it very clear that there is a certain prescription I have HORRENDOUS side effects from to say the least. No doctor, nor pharmacist, or even someone who knows anything about pharmecuticals would give me this prescription as it is in the same family as the one I had side effects from. The "nurse" didnt listen to anything I said about my history, even my wife tried to explain things to her, as my wife was familiar with the drug and knew it had no use for my condition. I was already on one prescription that was working wonders. She decided it was not the right prescription for me, and gave me a new script from the same drug family, but in a dosage other doctors told me was "too low to work for a toddler." I decided she knew more than me and took the meds. In the next few days until I found a REAL doctor, I was a basketcase. I am lucky to be alive, and thats no joke. The medical backgraound I gave her threw up red flags all over the place, but she was hellbent on giving me this trial med. My scripts were changed right away by the new doctor and I was back to normal. Then comes the bill. Apparently Ms. Nurse Practitioner doesnt accept my insurance. Even though I didnt make the appointment with her, nor was I even notified of the situation. I was told Dr. Luteyn was out for a sabbatical, and they dont know when she will be back. Do yourself a favor, if you are not guaranteed to see Dr. Luteyn, STAY AWAY!!!! As for Dr. Luteyn, I have heard she is a good doctor, just her clinic was run by incompetent people in her absence

Dr. Luteyn and her staff are frighteningly incompetent. I truly mean that. I was thrilled it was so easy to get in to see her; now I know why. When I arrived there, I was greeted by many signs letting me know various rules: I could be thrown out for using a cell phone, chewing gum, etc. I waited for 30 minutes in the exam room to see Dr. Luteyn, and when she arrived: oh, boy, it was definitely an experience. She made multiple awkward and offensive "jokes", many of which took me a minute to understand, since she mumbles. She was a terrible listener: she didnt answer many of my questions, and I had to correct her on the same mistakes over and over again (these were simple things, too: she asked me how something felt, and five minutes later made an assertion that since I felt something completely different, this is what she thought was going on. She referred me to a specialist and never called me to let me know the results of my exam. When I called her office they referred me to another specialist and told me that that doctor would let me know what the first specialist found. When I called the second specialist to schedule an appointment, their office expressed shock at the unprofessionalism of Luteyns office. Luteyns office told me multiple times that they "couldnt tell me the results", while the second specialist told me that they had the results in front of them but couldnt discuss them with me until the appointment. Apparently Luteyns office knows the results but didnt call to tell me and refused to give me the information when I asked. Its unbelievable. Honestly frighteningly unprofessional.

I called and made an appointment as a new patient and filled out all the paperwork before hand and took time off work to go to the appointment. I showed up to the appointment, the receptionist made a file for me and I was taken to a room where I was left to wait. The doctor didnt show up. Finally someone else (she never identified herself as a doctor, nurse or anything, just Lisa), came in and asked me if anyone explained to me about the clinic. When I said no, she told me that Dr. Luteyn had not been to the clinic in quite a while and no one had any idea when or if she was coming back. Lisas last day was Friday (four days later) so there was no reason for me to hang around or become a new patient there. She said if I had any questions I could ask her but then she would have to charge my insurance for the office visit and charge me the co-pay. I got out of there fast.......Seriously, how unprofessional is this? Why would they even make an appointment for me, especially as a new patient, if they didnt know whether the doctor was going to show up? All they had to do was say they are not taking new patients. It seems the more I pay for health care and insurance, the less I seem to get for my money. I do not recommend this doctor, her clinic, or her staff to anyone.
