TL;DR: I have never experienced such blatant disregard for a patients well-being. Needless to say, I am going elsewhere for care. It was implied that I am the one in the wrong for wanting to change primary care providers within the clinic. Today, after several months of care from this clinic, I finally had enough. Over the past 8 months, I have been relocating all my care to Washington. Per recommendation, I came here. Theresa Duggan seemed helpful at first. When I asked her for any information available for a psychiatrist nearby, she said look for one and shell do the referral that way. When my nerve pain got worse, I got the earliest appointment available - with Morgenstern. He has been the ONLY helpful provider here. He talked me through my pain history and listened attentively about my past care and past procedures. He made sure to get labs done to check for any indications of the cause of my pain. However, when they all came back negative, his hypothesis was verified - it was probably fibromyalgia. I went back to Theresa for a follow up. She diagnosed it as nerve pain when giving me a prescription for Gabapentin. I followed up with her over the eCare messaging as she requested and said that the pain was not changing and I had a bad side effect of being too drowsy to do anything if I wake up within 10 hours of taking it. So she gave me a prescription for amitriptyline, which is an anti-depressant AND nerve pain medication. When I mentioned that I have been trying to find jobs closer to home and that even with this medication, I wasnt able to do normal, basic tasks. File for disability? "I highly recommend seriously reconsidering [that]." So remember the request for any psychiatrists nearby? My mom sees her for primary care as well. She had asked for the same thing and received a list from Theresa... but I didnt. This is was the last straw for me and I refused to keep seeing Theresa for my own primary care. When I called the clinic, they said Morgenstern was unavailable for primary care - only urgent care. So I looked over some of the other providers in this clinic. I made an appointment to see Dr. Matthews. That was for today. When I got in, they needed a urine sample, not sure way. I wasnt told why. (My fault for not asking, but I was planning to ask when I saw the doctor.) After the medical assistant finished taking the pre-visit information and my vitals, she left. From the moment she left to the time Dr. Matthews walked in, nearly 40 minutes had passed. I calmly asked if she was running late. In response, I received a dirty look and was told that she was already upset with me for trying to doctor shop within the clinic. She took an angry tone with me when she said this. My reaction was anger and frustration and my body decided to physically respond by crying. I began trying to explain that I am not happy with the lack of care there is with Theresa. I called out Dr. Matthews for being inconsiderate when she yelled at me and that I was upset that no one had come in to tell me that I would have to wait a long time. (Makes me think that she may have made me wait on purpose.) In the end, she stormed out and said she was done with me. I dont remember what I yelled at her back. However, Im done with the blatant rudeness and lack of professional behavior. Last I checked, I am allowed to change primary care providers if I am unhappy with the current care I am getting. I plan on filing or reporting some sort of formal complaint. If I receive any form of retaliation for this review from the clinic, I am going to further show my displeasure by reporting harassment if need be. I hope that wont be the case. My goal is to warn others of the potential treatment they may receive here. I do not plan to get anyone fired or removed from medical practice.

I utilize the University of Washington medical services because of their high-level of quality and professionalism, and I am very pleased with the opening of a UW clinic in Olympia, near where I live, and I am even more pleased to finally have a primary care physician with Dr. Chens knowledge and professionalism that transcends that of other primary care physicians I have tried. Unlike others she takes the time to go the extra length to care for the patient. She is a very good listener and communicator who engages with the patient. My first--and only appointment with her so far--has been with an issue with hypertension. Besides fully addressing that problem, she surprised me by taking the initiative to examine my feet without me having to ask, as I have type 2 diabetes and other endocrinological disorders related to my chronic lymphocytic leukemia. I am very pleased with Dr. Chen, and I feel very fortunate to have found her, that I now have a primary care physician nearby who provides the quality I have found with my UW specialists in Seattle.

This is one of the best run health clinics I have seen. My private physician retired and I was fortunate to be able to see Dr. Chen in a very short time. She was very professional and as a healthcare provider myself, I appreciated her care and expertise. Everyone that works there knows their job, takes incredible care the patients, and strives to make your visit a positive experience. I had to come in for a walk in emergency and was seen very quickly by Dan Morgenstern who has many years of experience and resolve my issues very quickly. As a senior who has Medicare insurance, they strive to maximize my benefits. I would highly recommend this healthcare facility.

I am from out of state and came down with a horrible kidney infection while vacationing here on my honeymoon. I had left my insurance card at home and had been turned away from other clinics. The nurse practitioner got me in right away, allowed me to make arrangements for my insurance, and trusted my account of my symptoms. As a woman whos had UTIs and kidney infections before, I knew exactly what was happening, and Ive never felt so trusted or heard by a male doctor. Usually my symptoms or pain is downplayed slightly by some (not all!) male physicians, but I felt incredibly listened to and respected. 10/10 would visit again.

Dr Chens bio says she is collaborative. Yes, she is. She is also intuitive and thorough. I have never had a doctor more invested in my long-term health. She treats me as an individual, and while I have some issues that will take a long time to acceptably manage, I feel heard, validated, and I have never gotten the feeling that my feelings or perceptions are unimportant in light of the health issues. This is a tremendous benefit, and is why I am giving a 5 star rating. Really, I could not ask for a better provider. I also LOVE that my test results, diagnoses, visit summaries, etc are available to me on a secure site.

When my wife presented first thing in the morning (first patient in the door) with an acute health problem, hoping to be seen without an appointment (she is a patient) she was told we dont do walk-ins by the receptionist before any attempt was made to determine why she was there. Even though no other patients had checked in they did not offer any option but a next day appointment. While I understand that this is not a walk-in clinic, when a patient presents first thing in the morning due to an acute health problem I would have hoped that they would have taken a few minutes to talk to her and assess her situation.
