I needed a quick follow up appointment from an ER visit to officially have my dogs ruptured ACL diagnosed and this place was able to squeeze me in.The ER vet had felt swelling in her knee and said that he would let our family vet do the needed diagnostics. This vet literally only petted my dogs head and agreed with the ER vets guess. He leaned on the wall and talked to us like we were sitting in a bar somewhere and went on and on about the "Cadillac" of ACL surgeries, TPLO, which is extremely invasive and expensive and a bit iffy on the results. He couldnt even tell us what the letters stood for. He doesnt even do the surgery or even really know what it entails since he has "a guy" that comes in to do it. He actually said he has "a guy", not a specialist, not a surgeon, just "a guy". He didnt tell us this guys name and no we wouldnt need a consultation with this surgeon before scheduling the surgery. And only on the morning of the surgery would they do X-rays and palpate her knee. Imagine you go to the doctor with a sore knee and he immediately sends you to surgery for a knee replacement with some "guy" without any diagnostics or even a proper exam. I certainly wouldnt trust that doctors judgement. He gave her a script for an anti-inflammatory and I know those types of drugs can be hard on an older dogs kidneys and liver. That said I had to suggest blood work to insure these organs where up for the stress. His response? "Oh yeah that would probably be a good idea." As if it hadnt even crossed his mind. Ridiculous! Then the techs spent 20 min poking and prodding for a vein in both arms and my dogs neck. Ive worked in a vet clinic before so finally out of frustration I took over holding off a vein for the lady and she got it right away. Minutes later she came back saying she didnt get enough for the free heartworm test that was supposed to be included with blood work and the fiasco started all over again all for a free test I was ultimately charged $46 for. Now two weeks later after greatly restricting my dogs activities she is walking almost completely normal again and that doesnt happen so quickly with a ruptured ACL. I can imagine a more trusting person rushing into this back alley surgery and having their dogs leg butchered over something that wasnt even the real cause of the limping. I sure this vet office is as great as any for getting vaccines and treating colds but if you need REAL medical treatment I suggest going elsewhere.

I heard about this place from a friend when I used to live in the area. A few months ago, I apoted a dog from Madaac and they require you to bring the dog in for a check up afterwards. I was told your first visit here was free, so I called to make an appointment. I talked to the receptionist on the phone for about 15 minutes. I told her I had just adopted my dog, Lilly and I needed a check up. I explained that she had been having diarrhea since I brought her home so we could just get it checked out and make sure it was normal. (She had just been spayed and vaccinated and they said it may happen). I asked them about the free first visit and the woman told me that I was correct, and took the rest of my information. So I took Lilly to her appointment and checked in. The receptionist asked if it was our first time, and I told her yes. We again talked about the "complimentary visit" and Lillys issues with diarrhea since I brought her home. We met the vet, who was great, and again explained that although I have other pets and usually go to a different vet, they were close to my home and I was drawn in by the free first visit. We talked about how it was a nice offer to get pets aquainted and accustomed to their new vet. At the end of the appointment, we went to ring up her roughly $20 diarrhea medication just in case it didnt stop on its own, and they told me I owed almost $80! I asked why it would be so much if I was already told the price of the medication. They said it included the charge for the visit. I asked about the "free first visit" and the receptionist told me that because Lilly had a "problem" they had to charge me for the visit. I told them that I had talked to THREE different people about this before I went through with the appointment and told each of them the details and not one of them said that if I mentioned that Lilly had been having diarrhea then I would have to pay for the visit itself. At least not until the visit was over and I already owed the money. The vet and the assistant came out and they all looked at each other and shrugged and kinda mumbled sorry. I paid the $80 and left. I definitely wont be returning. Im giving two stars because the vet was fantastic, but no amount of kindness is going to give back the $50 I shouldnt have spent. And wouldnt have spent if I had decided to just travel to my normal vet. If youre a new patient here, I would suggest getting something in writing before you actually check in.

We drive 20 miles one way to take our dog to Cudahy Veterinary Clinic as to us there are no other vets. Having pets our entire life and vets in various cities and clinic sizes, if you love your dog, this is where you should be taking them. Tired of the in and out rush of the exam rooms? Not here. A thorough and detailed answer for every question. Tired of nobody knowing you? Not here. I can barely remember the names of people. The staff that works here remembers the names of the pets and the personalities of both the pets and their owners. Tired of being asked for unnecessary and expensive treatments (like a $400 teeth cleaning for my 14 year old dog like one vet recommended)? Not here. One of our prior dogs we thought had allergies. Dr. Shampo wouldnt even test him due to his age and the testing not being accurate based upon his age. Our current rescue dog thankfully was taken to Dr. Shampo instead of a farm spaying clinic as not only did he remove extensive scar tissue in her spaying but also found a large mass, did thorough testing on in it and found it to be a large blood clot. Would a drive through vet clinic do that? Not at all. Plus we were given the options as to what we wanted done for procedures, pain medications, etc. and were involved in the decision making process for our dog. First vet that has ever provided us that option and much appreciated. In general, if youre looking for a vet that truly cares about the integrity of his profession and in the job of caring for the best interest of your pet while educating and involving you in the process, then as noted above, there is no other vet to go to.

I have been taking my 2 cats to this clinic for 6 or so years. The people are nice and even when they changed ownership I stayed. The new vet Dr. Shampo and staff are also friendly. I liked the hours and location. But I have to agree with a previous review that said it seems new ownerships priority is profit. I took my old cat in recently to continue getting his meds. His "exam" was feeling his abdomen. It didnt even take two minutes. This new vet (brunette lady) did not look in his eyes, ears or mouth. She didnt ask me if I had any concerns. A few days later I call to inquire about the pain meds Dr. Shampo previously said was safe for cats and informed them he has stopped eating. They refused to tell me the pain reliever and instead said I had to bring him in AGAIN. Sadly, Im shopping for a new vet that will do a thorough exam and not look for reasons to create an office visit and maybe actually diagnose the reason my cat is in pain in the first place. Also, the meds I do get from here seemed to go up every month. The first time I got them it was $14 and change. Within a year the price rose by about 25%. The first time the price was entered wrong in the system. After that it was inflation. It was to the point that I stopped commenting each time the price went up and just expected it and paid it.
