Dr. Maddon saved our cats life. She had very severe and sudden weight loss and muscle weakness. Her bloodwork didnt show anything unusual, and he referred her to a specialist who was unable to figure out the issue. She went from 13 pounds to 9 in a little over a week, and we had to resort to force feeding her. Dr. Maddon was able to come up with a list of several likely causes, and before running specific tests to cross them off, which was going to take money and precious time, he prescribed one antibiotic that could treat a majority of the likely causes. And it worked! The change was almost immediate and she started putting weight back on. That was a year ago and she has been perfect ever since. We used park slope vets for years before we left park slope, and every doctor was great: caring, attentive, and willing to acknowledge that loving our pets doesnt mean having to spend extra money on unnecessary tests or medicine. Now that weve moved, were still looking for a vet as great as park slope vets.

AWFUL. Took my cat for surgery, for pyrometria, (she is a rescue). Was handed back a cat with seepy, stitches and told by Dr. Maddon that this is normal, though he said Dr. Paker did the surgery. Had to run to emergency clinic four hours later for new surgery and stitches. Spoke to Dr. Maddon directly the next day and was told not my problem..I asked to cancel the payment, he did not. Complained to credit card company, with bill from emergency room and they denied this clinic payment. Four months later I received a collection notice. I then did an investigation and found over 52 others with similar complaints, faulty surgery, hundreds in testing when rather than appropriate referrals to the right specialists. It seems Dr. Parkers name was most associated with these mistakes. I work in the animal care field and am concerned when there is such arrogance and lack of oversight.

This is, without a doubt, the most expensive vet I have ever been to . They charged $300 to neuter my kitten. Part of the cost is an antibiotic drip during the operation. Who gives antibiotic drips to cats for such a simple procedure? This is the fourth animal I have had neutered, and I have never heard of this before. That is irresponsible at best, and money grubbing at worst. Moreover, the staff are rude, the wait times are excessive, and the vet lies. During my last appointment, the vet assured me the follow up would be a tech appointment for a vaccine booster. Then, when I made the appointment it turned out to be a vet appointment that, guess what, cost much more than I expected. So, in sum, you are paying a premium for rude, condescending service, and overtreatment here.

We were only slightly pleased with the service at Park Slope vet during our first visit - our initial wellness exam for our then 8-week old puppy. When we went back for our first series of booster shots, we were even less impressed. The technician was kind to our pup, but not very helpful. The vet seemed so rushed, as if we were keeping him from something much more important with the few questions we had. We asked about flea/tick treatments, heartworm, spaying, etc and were just given a list of the items they sold there, and that wed need to call back for an estimate about spaying. I felt like we were getting a car serviced. We will be going to Hope Vet!

Both times I went to PSVC there is one receptionist who is a dead beat snot. She actually made me so angry today on the phone, that I sent my business to a different vet in Brooklyn. The Vet I saw the first time I went to PSVC was very nice, fine, nothing great, but I will not tolerate incompetent people who are the face and voice of the office. Made me so uncomfortable I wont take my animal there any more. Shes a miserable young woman who sounds like you woke her up from a nap when she answers the phone. Get another job if you hate being around sweet animals and their caring owners so much.

This place only cares about making money off of your dying pet with unnecessary testing. Instead of calling back and checking to see how my dog was doing. They call to require more test that was costly. I told the reception she was already dying and there is no way in hell I will put my dog through more tests and examination. She was 14 1^2 years old and he felt she has a lump in her colon. Instead of telling us how to make her comfortable, he wants us to put her through a $400 scanned. Horrible money making business. No heart for our fury family.

Forgive me- I dont know any of the vets names. We previously had a male vet and he was always a good chap to work with, friendly & helpful. But one day when my pooch had an emergency, the previous vet wasnt available. I was given a female vet who was nasty from the get go. Horrible attitude and I have no idea why. Also the whole staff was pushing unnecessary meds on us which we declined. You know, the whole heartworm BS and all that. After this bad experience I took my dog elsewhere. Overall I cant recommend this office.

I have been to 3 other vets in Brooklyn and Park Slope Veterinary Care has been my favorite by far and it will be my vet of choice from now on. They stayed open late to see my cat, the vet took the time to answer all my questions in depth and in easy to understand terms, the vet techs were very helpful, and when I assumed I would need to keep my cat on expensive food sold through their office the vet actually told me it wasn’t necessary and recommended I keep my cat on regular food, saving me a lot of time and money.

I paid a great deal of money for a "geriatric" check-up for my 15 1/2 year old dog which included bloodwork and a detailed analysis of all major organ functions. He was reported in the normal range in all cases. Five weeks later, he had a grand mal seizure. Dr. Maddon refused to give him anti-seizure medication unless he took the geriatric test again. When I asked about a payment plan, I was openly derided. Dr. Maddon should be working on Wall Street where he would probably do very well and at least not cause harm.

I just brought my 9 week old puppy to PSVC and was very happy with my choice. Dr. Maddon practically ignored me at first (not in a bad way) because he was so enamored with the puppy. I could tell immediately that he truly loves animals and he would take excellent care of my pup. The other staff I met seemed smart and caring as well. Im very comfortable with my choice of vet and would strongly recommend any pet owner to take their animal to PSVC.

I recently moved to Brooklyn and needed to find a vet for my dog. I saw that this place had received pretty good reviews so I gave it a try. Ive only been there once but am very happy with the service that I (and my dog) received. The vet was very nice and professional. The prices are kinda steep ($70 for an annual check-up), but it seems better then others in the area. This is definitely a place that I will be returning to.
