We have been doing to Wake Vet since we moved to Knightdale, almost 3 years now. Choosing a vet is a difficult task as there are always so many mixed reviews online, but I have never once doubted my decision. I absolutely love this place. My doggie is my baby and they take such good care of her that I feel reassured we are in good hands. She is always nervous coming in but they are so friendly and gentle with her no matter why we are there. We use their regularly veterinary services twice a year for our routine check ups and have never had a problem. Dr. Kahdy always recognizes our pup and calls her by name when she sees her. They are always willing to talk through things with us so we understand the care we are getting. Unfortunately we have had to use the Urgent Care that is there after hours more times than I would like. But despite the circumstances they are very responsive, reassuring, and will quickly help you through any situation. I am so thankful we have this option at the Vet office we are used to! Also I have used their boarding facilities and had a great experience. I hate having to board our pup and always bring her along when I can. Last year over the holidays I had no choice and was panicked. I looked into all the nice pet resorts in the area but they were so expensive and I didnt feel like she was going to get the attention at such a large place. I was worried about going to the vet for boarding as I assumed they would have small kennels but the staff invited me back for a tour of the boarding facilities and I was impressed. Because there werent as many kennels as the larger pet resorts, I knew she would get more attention and their walk policy was more times a day than any place I called around to. Not only that but they have the urgent care staff there all night who will do check ins and they dont charge any extra for special diets, foods. You can even bring your own bed and toys. Believe me I did my research and for the price you cant beat the boarding here!

They have policies in place requiring several shots and treatments which are not required by the State of NC, suggested by the NC State Vet School or required at other vet offices. Their employees choose to publicly rip into each other and throw a new competent doctor under the bus than to support the previous visit decisions made between their doctor and myself, the pet owner. I am not sure if Dr. Robertson is still with WVH, I certainly wish her the best in her career as she is an awesome vet. I have no issue with any of the actual treatments that were received, all were completely competent. Prices per procedure are a full third to double what other veterinary offices are. What would have cost $800 at WVH was less than $375 elsewhere. A technician suggested I decline other previously discussed procedures for the more expensive policy required items to save money. I expect an informed decision to be made between the Doctor and myself in the course of care for my pets, not to have someone call when they feel they have me strapped over a barrel from dropping off my pet for treatment and heading to work, to start peddling and bargaining for procedures over the phone. The entire action was completely offensive…not withstanding the questionable ethical issue of taking advantage of the very community they are serving when people are making decisions about something that means more to them in most cases than most of their family members. Corporate greed is an ugly and offensive business, especially when it preys upon emotion and vulnerability of people that just want the best for their pets. I cannot believe these issues have been introduced into veterinary care as a business plan. It seems the decisions for a course of care in this office is not made by the owner and Doctor, but, by corporate policy intent on generating revenue, I choose to take my business elsewhere.

My parents had been taking our dog here for years then stopped about 8 years ago. I now know for myself why. Wake Veterinary Hospital has become a careless, money hungry practice. I just recently got a lab puppy. I got her at 6 weeks and she is now 5 months. Every visit I have had, theyve been horrible. They gave her shots without ever asking or telling me. They just charged me for them and when I questioned it told me it was done behind closed doors. Which I have never known a vet to do anything so shady. As well, some of these shots werent even needed. I work at a pet boarding facility so Im not clueless on these immunizations. They kept giving my dog shots she didnt even need just so they could make more money off of me. Theyve also never given me an option on heart worm or flea prevention, they just charge me for whichever one they want to give. Which Ive found out now that Ive gone elsewhere, shouldve never been the case. They also have horrible customer service. I called to get a quote on my dogs hernia repair surgery. I was told $300 then once I spoke with other vets about the same thing they clued me in on the need for blood work, medication, etc. I therefore went to Wake Vet in person to ask if the quote I was given included that or not. They sent me away due to pure laziness. I waited a week before I ever got an answer which was a new quote for about $500 adding in the medication and operations needed. I wasnt surprised. They were going to throw those charges on me last minute like always. Ive had many friends that were loyal customers that have had these same type of issues and many of their own complaints. Wake Vet is not deserving of ANYONEs service!

My cat had a urinary blockage on a Saturday night, so we brought him here because it was the closest place open. They estimated the cost would be 1000 - 1400 dollars, but we wanted to save our cats life. We were told cats will typically stay there two days and be catheterized for that entire time. After about 15 hours, they called and told us we could come pick him up. When we picked him up, we had to pay an additional $200, and the girl couldnt even tell us where the extra charges were coming from. He was there for a total of 19 hours, probably only 15 or 16 of which he was catheterized. Not even 12 hours after he got home, he was blocked again. Luckily, this time it was during normal business hours, and we took him to Smithfield Road Vet, where they kept him for 3 full days and we paid 1/3 of what we paid at this place. The vet at Smithfield Road mentioned that cats will typically block very soon after being unblocked if they are not catheterized long enough. We were completely gypped by this place, and our cat was treated a million times better at Smithfield Road Vet. I would not recommend bringing your pets here.

Took my dog in on the weekend as it was the closest emergency vet. The vet on duty said my dog did not have an ear infection, and rattled off a number of unusual causes for her head shaking and vomiting. They wanted to do bloodwork there but it would just be exploratory; they didnt have a specific reason to do so. I declined when they said it could wait until the weekday. Took my dog to her regular vet first thing Monday, and she did in fact have an ear infection, so I basically wasted $135 for no gain at all; not even peace of mind. I asked about ear infection specifically when I took her to the emergency vet, so its not like they werent thinking about it being a possibility. It really seems like they just wanted to squeeze every dollar out of me and give my dog no relief simultaneously. My regular vet was extremely dubious about the far-out causes to which the emergency vet attributed my dogs problems and was very specific about her reasonings. Are these people just guessing?
