Ive been taking my cats to Crawford for over twenty years. Since I had one cat with hyperthyroidism (who lived to 15), and currently have a diabetic cat and a cat with neurological issues caused by a spinal cord injury, Ive spent much time at Crawford. I also have cat-owning friends who go to different vets who have paid fortunes in bills for poorly diagnosed cat illnesses. I had one cat whom I took to an emergency room at a 24-hour hospital because he was running a high temperature. I was forced to agree to paying for an EKG to get the cat examined and treated. He had an anal gland infection and the vet suggested removal of the glands. When I took him to Crawford, Dr. Allen suggest a food change and the cat died at 18 with no subsequent problems and his glands intact. Dr. Josh saved me a lot of money when he suggested that I buy L-lysine for my cat at a health food store instead of ordering a flavored product online. What I like about Crawford is that they will listen to what I tell them about my cat, observe the cat, and try to treat the illness in the most minimally invasive way as possible. I ve had three cats put to sleep at an advanced age, and they did their best to be supportive during these experiences. I boarded my diabetic cat there for 10 days when I went on vacation. When I returned, he had received a sugar turn-up, lots of attention from the staff, and looked great. When I took my cat with neurological issues back for a check-up, the front desk staff immediately remembered him from the week he spent there as a kitten and were complimentary on how well he had turned out on his combination food and medical treatment. I dont have to make an appointment since they have drop-in times seven days a week, Im not forced to pay for unnecessary treatments, and I have never seen either the front or the exam rooms less than clean. The three doctors will consult together on serious pet problems, and most tests are done in-house so the results come in quickly. I would definitely recommend Crawford Animal Hospital to any pet-lover.

I initially chose this place both because of the positive reviews and the location. Its literally like five minutes away from my home. However, the moment I entered the office I was disappointed. Very poor customer service. This week I visited for the very first time with my yorkie poo fur baby. I went back two days later to get a copy of her vaccinations. Both times the receptionists were cold and unwelcoming. No smiles, no how are you, how may I help you. They basically just look at you. I didnt bother even speaking first because on planet Earth, where I reside, the respectable thing to do is greet the customer when they walk into your place of business. All of the girls attitudes were totally inhospitable. I went back for copies because I decided to go with another animal hospital. The entire thing bothered me too much. Im a potential customer contributing to the revenue of your facility. The least you can do is greet me when I walk in. On another disturbing note, the vet who looked at my puppy-who wasnt too hospitable himself at first, told me that she was too young for the rabies vaccination. Mind you, shes 16 weeks old, the age mandated by New York State that she receive it. You can read it yourself here https://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/zoonoses/rabies/docs/pet_owners_fact_sheet.pdf I called another vet when I got home for further confirmation, and was told that she needed it asap and they would have done it immediately. Anyway, those girls at the front desk need to get it together. Their behavior reflects poorly on the establishment and first impressions are truly lasting ones. There are tons of other neighboring vets. I regret not choosing elsewhere.

I had to put my best friend down tonight after 11 years due to a large cancerous tumor in her pancreas.. As suggested by other websites concerning euthanasia, i brought her in at the end of the day so there wouldnt be too many people and dogs there., This might have been a mistake. It seemed like everyone there wanted to go home.. also i came here because i was offered a nice price by Dr. Gary. who wasnt there the night i brought Chewy in. The other doctors didnt seem too happy with what Dr. Gary offered me, but performed it anyway. I would rate this place a 5, but after a long day, they seemed pretty irritated. They did try and seem understanding given the situation of putting a pet down. But i can tell they just wanted to go home. Also the man performing the sedation injection tried to convince me beforehand that its better to skip that part and just inject her with the final lethal dosage. that its faster.. Well that may be, but i think he only mentioned that because he wanted to go home, im not sure. When i said i want the sedative first anyway, he just shrugged and said "ok".. Sorry to hold your night up a few minutes, but i needed time with my family before she passed away. I understand though, I work with children. when the parents are late picking thier kids up, i get very irritated. I reserve my feelings though, which i believe they did here at Crawford, It could have been a lot worse. Anyway thanks for putting her to rest. Shes in a happier place... I WOULD CERTAINLY recommend this place for any of your pets needs.

My animals have been coming here all my life. With their care and our love of animals, all of our animals have lived to an old age. We love Dr. Josh and we are so happy that our dog gets so excited when we tell her she is going to see him. Dr. Josh gives you many options for treatment and allows you to choose the option you think is best. Many doctors usually recommend the most expensive treatment or suggest x-rays and blood work right away but Dr. Josh doesnt do that. If he thinks there is something else that you can try without having to have expensive work done he will give you the option of trying that first. He is very honest and will tell you if he doesnt think a certain course of treatment will work so that you dont waste your money. With so many animals we have had lots of procedures and surgeries done. Of course I always ask for a "ballpark figure" first just so I know what Im getting into. Dr. Josh makes sure that the actual cost of the procedure does not exceed the estimate he told me so I never have to worry about extra costs and fees. I also like that aftercare checkups are included when your animal is treated. The staff there is so wonderful. When we go in there they know us by name and know the history of our animals. They work very hard and have convenient hours. They are very kind and empathetic when the time comes to put an animal down. Im so glad that my animals are in such good hands.

I am a long time client at Crawford Animal Hospital in Lynbrook. My black Labrador developed a condition that most vets would never see in their practice of medicine. I brought him in after he could not keep water or food down and was not interested in food. After blood work and x-rays, the three doctors (you get the benefit of three great minds) determined that Max needed immediate surgery. At 10:30 on Friday evening, the three doctors removed my dogs twisted and blocked lower intestines, cleaned his abdominal cavity and replaced his intestines. Had they delayed, or miss-diagnosed, my dog would have died. Instead, I picked him up a week later and you would never know he was on deaths door. We later read that this condition is very rare and, even with surgery, the mortality rate is 75%. Its two days since my wife and I picked up Max, and he is doing great! There are no more compassionate and qualified doctors than you will meet at Crawford. Thank you Drs. Baum. Mike and Wendy
