Great Service Except... As the owner of several rescue pets, I do not disagree on others comments on the kind, courteous, and professional staff at Nanuet Emergency Vet. They honestly care about your pets well being. The reason for the two stars? Cost of services are outrageous. When this hospital first opened, I had believed that the cost for some of their emergency visits to be very reasonable and a solid answer to Oradell. Same night services with one or two simple meds prescribed would range in the 400-600 range. I recently had a pet that was lethargic and not eating. Being the weekend and worried he would be in much worse shape by Monday, I brought him in. A standard blood work exam and x-ray before any treatment ran over $1000. Same tests done by my vet would be 1/3rd the price or less. Understanding that this is emergency service. If it ended there, I would choked on it and moved on. Add a 24-36 hour stay and IV to re-hydrate him, I was looking at a bill well over $2500. Even after haggling the best price I got was just under $2000 by shortening his stay. The worst part is nothing conclusive came from the tests and his stay there did not improve his condition much. Not that I dont believe they did anything wrong in their work, but thats a lot of money to conclude I dont know whats wrong with your pet. I do not have to set aside that kind of emergency money when I have to bring my child into the emergency room, I sure as hell should not have to do it for my pet. I have paid much less for pets who have undergone major surgery! This kind of pricing is what leads people to abandon their pets or neglect treatment until its too late. These guys arent the only ones, but I call this out as I see it. Recommendation: only go to this place or Oradell if you think your pet will die if left untreated. They will do everything that they can to help, but it will cost you...

My dog was poorly diagnosed, he had an abscess that just needed to be cleaned and desinfected, instead they found a way to make seem like he had a tumor and took samples to send to the lab, which obviously where added costs to a bill that was already ridiculously high for an abscess, plus the stress they caused my family. They kinda cleaned my dogs wound and sent him home with antibiotics. The lab results were supposed to be back the day after or at the latest two days later, they never called me or the vet and if I wouldnt had called back for the results almost a week later they wouldnt have bothered. The results state that what my dog had was an infected abscess... Which was obvious, but since they never cleaned it thoroughly he still has an infection there... Oh and to add to it, they take your payment before they even do any procedures to your beloved pet! Next time Ive an emergency with my pets ll have to take them somewhere else unfortunately

We had an extremely positive experience with Dr. Bessler, Dr. Baker and the whole team (especially under the difficult circumstances!) Our pet Rusty was bitten by a venomous snake and we had to bring him in on extremely short notice. The team was professional, fast, calm and did the right things to get him back in shape. The receptionist even went out of her way to give us some recommendations on what to do in the area while we waited for the lab results! Overall, we had one of the best vet experiences ever (and thats with 3 pets over 8 years). I mean they even have free Keurig coffee for those long nights waiting for your best friend to be ok. Its those little things that show how much they care about the animals and the owners. If there is an emergency, do the right thing. Bring them here.

I brought my dog Leo in on a Sunday morning. He was in acute respiratory distress and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He was in critical condition and we didnt know if he was going to make it. Dr. Bessler, Dr Baker, Barbara(tech) and staff were not only efficient but caring to not only Leo but my husband and I. They gave us all the different treatment options for Leo and supported our decisions without judgement. They took care of Leo for more than an hour before even approaching us regarding payment which is very rare. He was there for 24 hours and I felt comfortable leaving him there in there kind and capable hands. Leo survived and is doing well,,, thanks to them!

1.0 star rating 6/27/2017 The experience tonight was horrible. I brought my dog in for a broken nail. The Vet Dr. Jermaine used expired (12/2014) neomyicin antibiotic powder on the paw. When I called the owner Dr. Bessler at his other location in Nanuet he was more concerned about me telling others in the office. This place is all about the money and I will contact the proper Authorities about them using expired prescription drugs on the animals. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. PLEASE EVERYONE LOOK AT THE 25 BAD REVIEWS ON YELP!!!!!

This Veterinary Hospital took excellent care of my dog when we needed it most. He ingested Vitamin D, & needed to be taken care of in a very timely manner. The hospitals attentiveness, professionalism, & kindness had a positive outcome for my dog. I am convinced that he had made a full recovery because we chose this Hospital for care. This should be your "go to" hospital for your pet in an emergency. I am forever grateful to them!

Great service, friendly, excellent staff, not a long wait When you walk in its clean and neat, theu have dog beds on the floor to make your pet feel more comfortable. My dog got attacked by another dog and her eylid got split open. My dog hates the vet and gets very scared and anxious. They were very patient with her and took care of all her needs right away. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Great emergency vet service. Brought my cocker spaniel in for an infected grand that ruptured and they provided top care immediately. Best part was the price for service, while not cheap, was much better than say Oradell. I would bring my pet here again without question for emergency service.

Dr Bessler and his staff are hands down the best I have dealt with ever. Very caring, sensitive, and compassionate. Wish they were our regular vets office.
