GVAH is the most loving, caring and professional animal hospital Ive ever been to. When I first got my French Bulldog puppy I was looking for a vet in the aread and GVAH was recommended to me from more than one pet owners in the neighbourhood. My dog is now 3 years old and every experience weve had with them are amazing. Both Dr. Sane and Dr. Dasbach are extremely knowledgeable and informative with the health issues that come with the French Bulldog breed (re: breathing problems, allergies, etc) Last summer my dog was having a lot of trouble breathing during the heat wave. The doctors examined him and suggested the nasal passage/soft palate surgery. They were extremely informative and helpful both pre and post surgery, only trimmed and soft palates and widen the passage as much as needed. They also have informed me that the nose will look slightly different, which I do not see as an issue since its making my dog breathing so much better, healthier and happier. As a loving and responsible pet owner, I think your dogs health and happiness are way more important than the look of his/her nose. Besides, the change is really hardly noticeable. Both my dog and I love the hospital and its staff very much and will recommend them to any pet owner in a heart beat.

I highly recommend Dr. Sane and his team at Greenwich Village Animal Hospital. They are knowledgeable, friendly, available seven days a week, follow up on the care they give and clearly love the animals they are taking care of. Dr. Sane has taken care of my four and a half year old Westie, Fergus, since I first brought him home at three months old, but for a period when I moved out of New York. The team at GVAH has seen Fergus through his routine care, as well a bout with a gastrointestinal illness and an accidental swallowing of prescription medication. The care provided was always thorough, thoughtful and medically conservative (for example, not pushing care which is purely cosmetic or otherwise not truly necessary), which I appreciate. Dr. Sane and the other vets and support staff there are not only good with the pets, they are also good with the pet parents. They are friendly, patient and take the time to explain what is going on with your pet. I am generally not big on writing reviews but when you find people who put this much work and care into their practice, its nice to spread the word. If you are looking for a vet, check them out, your pet will thank you for it.

I took my cat to a Dr.Alison Shea with a constipation problem. The first question asked me was, is he spade--YES---the second thing she noted that his teeth were weak and they had to be removed. After the removal I asked what about his constipation (which I had paid $500 and no cure offered) she proceeded to remove his bowels with her finger. Visit cost $1500. I took my second cat to her and first thing she said OH, HER TEETH MUST GO and she has a tumor. The cat was treated for her tumor $15 00 I refused any tests for cancer, I did not think this was a problem. I than told her that the cat was eating like a vacuum cleaner. I received a very long pause where she said nothing. Two years later the cat was losing weight so I took her to the animal hospital and school at York Ave. I discovered she had a thyroid problem which now was affecting her heart. I could not let her suffer though she seemed happy at 4 pounds. NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM. A helpless sick animal is not in honest true good hands.

Ive been going here since my Molly was 4 months old. I love Dr. Sane and his assistants. Appointments are easily made and there is usually no wait unless theres an emergency ahead of you. Dr. Sane is caring, compassionate, direct -- and a wonderful diagnostician. After Molly had surgery at Blue Whatever, she wasnt doing well...they had forgotten to give her antibiotics and she was really ill. Dr. Sane had wanted to do the surgery, but I opted for the "expert" uptown. With no ego and no attitude, Sane did what he does best. Fixed the problem. No problem. The fact that its around the corner isnt too bad either.

I cannot say enough good things about these vets. They saved our cats life and they held our hands throughout the process. She was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma and we were counseled to have her back leg amputated after the tumor was resected. It was a difficult decision but one year later she is alive and well. Dr. Sane performed the surgery and spent TWO nights over the weekend at the clinic with her after her surgery. Dr.Shea oversaw her care before the second surgery and between treatments. Thank you Dr. Sane and Dr.Shea and to all the staff at GVAH.

Love this place. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I am seeing Dr Jim Dasbach for all of my dogs needs – he is super thorough and professional. He gives great advice always trying to find the best solution for my dog. Hed never do a procedure or recommend anything to make some extra cash (as so many other places do). They are the best!

Amazing! After five years in the Village with our beloved elderly dog we have finally found a nice vet who is more concerned with helping us care for him than trying to make money off of us. If you are looking for excellent care with a compassion and common sense solutions this is your place.
