We started going to Dr. Downey when we got our first puppy. For this being our first dog we had many questions. Dr. Downey always takes the time to explain things thoroughly so we can understand and even drawing pictures if necessary. Our puppy got a cherry eye a few months before he was scheduled to be neutered and Dr. Downey tried everything to avoid having to preform surgery on the eye, but surgery was the only option. We got the surgery the same time as the neutering and were were told of risks involved in doing surgery on any eye, such as the tiny fiber stitches irritating the eye. We did in fact have to bring him back to get the stitches redone as they were irritating his eye, but Dr. Downey did it at no extra cost. The final time we brought him due to irritation he was able to remove the stitches and there have been no problems since. Dr. Downey has always been upfront with us and truly has the health and well being of the animal at heart. We recently got a kitten and will be getting him declawed this week at companion care. The entire staff is very friendly and personable. They are always helpful and know each animal by name. I really enjoy being able to call with the small questions and getting an answer so willingly... even if I am just a paranoid pet parent at times. Thank you to Dr. Downey and his entire staff for being great!

This review is long overdue and should have been written weeks ago. Unfortunately, we recently lost our Beagle of 16+ years. Dr Downey has been our Vet for over 15 years. He is not only kind and caring but his diagnosis and treatment of our pet 2 1/2 yrs ago with Cushings Disease was spot on. I truly believe that it was through his expertise that we were able to have her as long as we did. He always returns a phone call and never makes you feel rushed. A lot of times, these calls came after a long day of office hours or surgeries, but the call was always returned. He has always been kind, compassionate and caring. Never in 15 years was he ever aloof. If you are anything like me and your pet is your baby then you only want the best and the best is what you get when you deal with Dr Downey. I have referred 2 other family members to Dr Downey and they too feel that their pet is getting amazing care and treatment . Our family cannot express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Companion Care for the many years of amazing care and compassion that they showed to our beloved pet. I recommend Dr Downey to everyone. Thank you Dr Downey for a wonderful 15yrs. The pets and families that visit your facility are very lucky to have met you!

I took our GWP dog to Dr M after he regurgitated a furry toy on 12/31/15. He had diarrhea and a loss of appetite. Over the next 7 weeks Dr M treated him as he kept losing wt. Finally an Internal Med vet diagnosed him with an obstruction, so Dr M operated and the dog died 4 days later at their hospital during the night. He died from ascites fluid and probable chest fluid due to his hypoproteinemia after the surgery. He probably would have lived if he had better post op care. He would have lived if a timely dx had been made earlier. This is what you get for 4000 dollars at this hospital. I spoke with Dr D about a settlement after such a miserable outcome for our dear friend, Mickey. But he never responded back, I guess I will have to sue for any justice. Lesson: do not take your dog here or your local vet for ER/urgent care. Go to specialists or ER. These vets are fine for maintenance and routine issues, but no serious unknowns.

Dr Downey is awesome..he is very caring and takes his time with each animal.....my dog cocoa had a heart condition and I was going to put him down. Dr said we could get another year if we put him on heart meds..we did...got 9 more months..when it was time to let him go,i got to be with him in the office until I was ready to let him go. Dr Downey has euthanized a few of my animals...my cat Tiger was 21 years old... I always receive a beautiful card with a hand written note.... I hope Dr Downey knows how much this means to a grieving person...my animals are my best biddies. My cat tizziepast away at home 15 minutes before they closed...they waited for me to bring her in to be cremated....I will continue to bring all my animals in forever..... I call and i am always treated with respect.... Thank you for loving animals as much as you do....PS your fees are very reasonable....

We take our 3 cats and our dog to Dr. Downey and have had nothing but positive experiences over the last 2 years. He takes his time to check over our animals, addresses any concerns, and is friendly. We call with questions sometimes and the staff is always happy to answer them for us. We appreciate that they think our pets are as cute as we do! We have never felt that they were trying to up-sell or gouge us on costs, we are a young couple and that sort of thing makes a big difference to us! We have family that also uses Dr. Downey and recommended him to us for our own pets.

I have been bringing my fur babies to this hospital since Dr Downey opened. My pup Kahlua was patient number #14. I can not say enough great things about all of my experience here and all of the wonderful care that has been provided. When my Kahlua crossed the rainbow bridge we were treated with such kindness and compassion. I will never go anywhere else and could never give enough credit to Dr Downey and his staff. Highly recommended!

How sad is it that your neighbor comes over in tears, because they sent her home with her animal WHO IS DYING IN PAIN. How dare you tell her that "Owning an animal is a LUXURY". You people have no heart, on the week of CHRISTMAS. Ive never heard of such disrespectful people, you should change your name to DONT CARE, not Companion Care. DISGUSTING!!!!!!

My dog had an issue where she ate a rock and it got stuck in her intestines. We had the surgery here from Dr. Downey and he did not make sure she was stable before he started the surgery. She ended up going through jaundice and kidney failure and we had to put my dog to sleep. I will never go to this vet again.

Have become very greedy and lost most of there caring help. Doctor Downey once said he would never become like the other vets in town, he was right, he became worse. Former employees tell us it is a horrible business to work at with the emphasis put on extra services by the Downey family. Find somewhere else!

I had to put my animal down, and naturally devastated. This was my first time having to put an animal down and was a wreck when I got there. The doctor showed no compassion, just very matter of fact. If I get another animal, no way will I go here. The vet tech was nice, but I still wont go back there.
