I was with Banfield since 2006, and mainly have experience with our dog, but our cats are registered there too. The staff and doctors did seem to have a genuine concern for the well being of my dog. I understand that is a glaring generality that one would assume to be the case at any vet, but I wanted to say something nice. They all liked my dog and knew him by name and I dont have any personal complaints about the peeps working there. There seems to be a round robin of actual vets, I feel like I must have seen 4-5 different vets on staff depending when I showed up over the years. All seemed competent. The business practices and the pricing are of most concern. Being part of the wellness plan you become accustom to the pseudo-convenience of the plan, and you often forget to price shop. Im glad I finally did, because Banfield suggested a surgical procedure at a rate of $830 and I found another highly rated local vet to offer the same procedure for $270. After sharing the surgical estimate over the phone the Banfield rep did quickly mention they "could take $100 off the price if I renew my dogs wellness contract. Would you like to renew the wellness plan right now over the phone?". This is the sort of thing is what turned me away for the final time. I was still in sticker shock, not to mention deeply concerned this would be cost prohibitive to the point where euthanasia would become an option Id need to explore if a suitable alternative couldnt be found. Fortunately there was... I do sales too, so I know the importance of a quick close and the impact emotions can have on purchase decisions, but this felt nothing short of exploitative. In the B2B world thats one thing, but our dog is like a family member which seems cruel. My honest assessment of Banfields business practices is that they will always assume you will be willing to take the most expensive approach to your animals heath. Their mark-ups for surgical procedures seem to be at 300% that of the local market rate. The prescription meds they distribute are marked up to ridiculous levels as well. On top of this you pay $XX.xx per month on a wellness plan. 2 stars for kind staff, who were genuinely loving to my dog.

I have to put my baby girl down because of there NEGLIGENCE! Horrible experience! Never again would I ever take my pets there ever! Allow me to explain we signed our two dogs up for the wellness program. My French bulldog had a spot on her butt that we where concerned about it was very small but we took her in anyway and the vet said it appeared to be her anal gland infection. I asked the vet could it be cancer I had read some symptoms she was having and it tied with cancer they laughed said no doctor Google at it again so I kept my mouth shut. The spot grew they gave me a cream to put on it nothing they took a sample they said it came back a strong anal infection gave me pills for her it kept growing they then squeezed it and tried to drain it then they cut it open and gave me more pills and cream. It didnt help it just grew more. So I bring her back they took a sample again! This time oops it is cancer!!!! I took my French bulldog to the VHS they ran test and it is stage 3 cancer and it has spread to other parts of her body. So now my sweet girl only has a couple months left to live no treatment will cure the cancer because it has speard! I am beyond pissed at Banfield I feel as though if they had really put effort into it and not brushed me off about it being cancer I might have been able to save my baby!! But there poking and prodding probably speard or contributed to the speard of the cancer. I will never! NEVER EVER TAKE MY PETS THERE AGAIN! IM LOSING MY BABY BECAUSE OF THERE NEGLIGENCE!!! Please do not take your pets there they do not do a good job of taking care of your family. Im losing my best friend because they couldnt even test it for cancer first! If I could give them a worse rating I would. Because of them I will never go to a PetSmart or a Banfield again!

I have been to many private vet practices over the past year for my hamsters. I have seen what feels like countless vets and most of them would tell me things I already knew and then send me away with an outrageous office visit charge or some overpriced medication. I was at the end of my ropes. When I found a tumor on my dwarf hamster, I decided to try out Banfield as Id exhausted my other options. I went to the one in Garner, NC and asked if they were willing to potentially do surgery on a hamster. I was kindly told they had no vets that would, but was directed towards the Cary, NC Banfield. I made an appointment for the next day and was surprised to find not one, but two vets who were both extremely well-versed in hamster treatment and who were very willing to do whatever was necessary for my little girl. I was given a very realistic estimate for the removal of the tumor and the office visit was VERY well priced. I dropped her off the next day for surgery and a few hours later was called with a very detailed update. Unfortunately, she did not handle the anesthesia well and passed away during recovery. I was called immediately and asked what I wanted to do, etc. I went to pick her up an hour or so later and was told that the vet was not charging me for the surgery. I havent had an experience like this with a vet in many many years and it was such a relief to find someone who was caring and obviously not in it only for the money. I cannot recommend Banfield, or at least this specific location, enough.

I am writing this for a friend. Both of the dogs were on the wellness program. One of the dogs, a puppy, was given his shots, plus 2 others that were not needed, but my friend wasnt aware of this.. Within 2 Days the dog became seriously ill, almost dying. When my friend tried To get them to see the dog, and try to save it, they refused to help because she couldnt pay. She begged them to save her dog and offered to make payments..they still refused..The dog was dying, He was dehydrated..they refused to even give him fluids. The dog was taken to another vet and I paid the bill after receiving a call from my friend. We found out that the dog was infested with 2 different kinds of worms, yet Jared Tyndall had reassured my friend that the fecal exams were negative. The new vet could not believe that they had missed this, and called herself to request all the records to confirm. Sure enough, fecal exams were shown to be neg. But the dog had worms so bad he was bleeding out his rectum. The worms were eating his intestines because he had not eaten properly since the shots..so wth lack of fecal matter to feed on, they were eating him. He had an abscess so huge he couldnt eat.. Which also developed within days of the shots. As of this writing, over 1300$ worth of care has been done to try and save him, but he is still sick and is back again today with the new vet.. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE. READ THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS-THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET...ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY.
