I absolutely think that Orchard Park Veterinary Hospital is one of the best facilities in the area! I moved to the area two years ago and needed a place to treat my crew. I had a dog with a very difficult medical condition when I moved here and I am used to a very high standard of care. I had difficulty finding someone that I trusted and needed someone quickly. I will be honest. Initially the front desk staff turned me off. I found the person who took my first call to be extremely rude and unhelpful. Im so glad that I decided to move past that initial impression! I saw Dr. Susan Metzger and found her to be absolutely wonderful. She took on my challenging crew. When my one kitty became so ill that he had to be hospitalized, I felt that they provided outstanding care. When it finally came time to make that most difficult of decisions, the entire staff was kind, caring and compassionate. Finally, kudos to the staff for working me in when I forgot the time of my appointment and showed up an hour early! They didnt make me wait and I greatly appreciated that (even though I would have been happy to do so. It WAS my fault!) A few small problems which is why I had to knock one star off this review: - The initial contact people (front desk staff) can be a little rude (as in my first impression.) - I felt a little rushed after my beloved cat was euthanized to leave. I would have appreciated just a few more minutes to say my goodbyes. - And, I had to squeeze one of my kitties in for an urgent visit due to his sudden inappropriate litter box habits to rule out medical issues. I was going to be leaving the country for 2 weeks and my pet sitter asked me to have him checked out before I left. I appreciated them seeing him but the vet I saw that evening was absolutely the rudest, most condescending vet I have ever encountered. The only really BAD experience of any of my visits. He made me feel ashamed- and I am NOT a bad pet parent. I really love this place and am proud that they care for all my animals.

A few weeks ago, we had to bring our beloved 12 year old dog Madden in on an emergency. We saw Dr. Emily Rabener. We always see Dr. Rabener for our cats, but she has never seen our dog before as he was an established patient at another hospital. We were afraid that the news would not be good as our vet suspected cancer. Dr. Rabener ran some tests and confirmed our worse fear, that it was definitely cancer, that it would just get worse and he was struggling. Without us having to ask, she said "if youre wondering if its too soon to say good bye, its not". I cannot tell you the compassion that she showed. She let us sit with him and we had a family member bring us cheeseburgers to give him as his final meal. She and the tech explained the process and what to expect. We appreciated being fully informed in order to make that heartbreaking decision. They were wonderful, even letting us stay for quite some time afterwards to say good bye. A week later, we received a beautiful card from Dr.Rabener. We were so touched that someone as busy as she is, took the time to do that! Orchard Park now has life-long clients as long as Dr. Rabener is on staff! What I am discouraged about was when it came time a few days later to pick up our dogs remains, I stood at the counter listening to the receptionist try to pack our dogs box into a paper shopping bag. This upset me because I felt it cheapened the experience. Like she was packing my groceries. Had she asked if I wanted him in a bag, I would have declined. Please rethink this process. Im sure Im not the only person who has gotten upset about this. Other then this experience, I am so thankful for the way we were treated, it made it a little easier to say good bye to our fur-baby.

I am not one to write reviews, but when it comes to the health of our furry creatures I find it absolutely necessary to urge you to stay far away. My dog was given inadequate, sketchy and very expensive care that did nothing to resolve the issue. After noting a limp we took my dog here - they took one xray, sent us home with pain meds, and said it was too small a fracture to diagnose so just let it heal and get better. At this point my dog limped only once in awhile. It didnt get better - we sought new care and was told the xrays were not thorough enough (only took from one angle and didnt capture the healthy joint alongside the swollen) and it should have been splinted to ensure proper healing. The paw kept getting worse so more xrays were done by another vet and our dog is finally getting the care she deserves. When I called this establishment to ask for a refund (because the infection is thought to be a direct effect of their lack of care) they sent me a ridiculously long, insensitive denial. We are pursuing further action and praying this doesnt lead to amputation on the part of veterinary neglect. Please, seek treatment elsewhere. The minute you walk into their Ritz like establishment youll quickly see its about providing sketchy treatment at the highest price and disavowing accountability later through stating they gave suggestions that they did NOT give. Oh, and when I told my vet about my experience they knew right away that it was OP (despite the numerous emergency vets in the area) even though I did not tell them which vet. Please, stay away. They prey on nervous pet owners and exploit them.

My dog was admitted 5 days ago in critical condition. The staff is not helpful and only cares about getting paid. I visit the hospital everyday and am made to wait to see my dog. I was told yesterday that it would be a 15-20 minute wait , 30 minutes later I was still unable to see her and was told they did not know how much longer it would be. This is the third time this has happened. When I went back a second time yesterday, I asked to see her and no one came out for 15 minutes, I had to ask again and was rudely brought in the back to finally see her. I am made to feel like an inconvenience because I want to visit my dog. I live 45 minutes from the hospital . Today I went to see her and was told that it would be a while before I could see her because it is a holiday weekend and they are busy and short staffed. They could not guarantee me how long it would be before I could visit my dog nor could they tell me what would be a good time to come back. Because the hospital is short staffed, I do not get to see my dog? I think it is important to her health to visit with her everyday but the staff makes that nearly impossible. They have no problem telling me that I need to put additional funds on the bill and they do not want to wait for that, but I have to wait an unreasonable time, making it quite difficult to see her everyday. I do work full time and have other dogs at home that need to be taken care of.
