I have been using Capital Home Vet Care for several years and could not be more pleased! We began when our elderly rottweilers became reticent to climb into the car and, aging ourselves, we could not lift them. Dr. Dexter admitted she did not care for rotties, but my ladies changed her mind. Her compassion knows no bounds as 3 days after the birth of her daughter, she came out here to ease our last rottie into her last sleep. We both sobbed - Annie was special. Then when we joined the world of the small dog, she proclaimed our Japanese Chin as perfect. Her practice is the thing I will miss the most when we leave Virginia. We are still here and depending more than ever on Dr. Dexter since our baby Ti-Ti was dxd as diabetic. This is still a roller coaster ride but she has never given up on any of us. Sending a new curve and I know she will know just what to do - again!

Being new to the area, I needed a referral for a caring and patient vet. What a God send it was to be referred to Capital Home Vet Care. Dr. Dexter and Katie came to the house to deal with a not-so-willing 10 year old Norwegian Forest Cat that was in need of vaccinations, teeth cleaning, over-all health screen and a shaving of painfully matted long hair before the summer heat. They arrived on time, as scheduled and were fantastic in answering all my questions before any procedure began and again afterwards once everything was completed. The cost was very reasonable considering all that I asked them to do. A major benefit was that I didnt have to stress a 14lb cat by taking in her carrier her somewhere strange and new. We will using their services again in the future.

Dr. Erin Dexter has been taking care of my dogs since 2005. She is a wonderful, compassionate doctor who also happens to be an excellent diagnostician. Dr. Dexter identified a serious problem that my Pekingese had that other doctors missed and because of that he is walking today. She has compassionately euthanized two of my dogs in the comfort of their home and she has taken care of my dogs through all kinds of illnesses. Dr. Dexter stays current, interested and passionate about what she does. Having a doctor that comes to the house reduces the stress of sitting in waiting rooms with nervous, drooling pets that try to make a beeline for the door every time it opens. It also reduces my stress knowing I have such a wonderful doctor and person taking care of my dogs.

I have dealt with probably 10 different vets since i have owned my first dog some 20 years ago. Dr. Dexter and her crew are, without a doubt, the best I have come across. She has helped me through the loss of 2 dogs over the years and continues to keep my current monsters healthy and happy. If your worried about the cost of a "home" vet, vs sitting in a waiting room forever while your dog drools and loses hair from nerves, dont! she is reasonably priced. Ive definitely been to vets that cost more locally and also had to deal with the hassle. My dane is bigger than most people, and not having to move him makes life so much easier, but we use Capital for even the small one. Just a great group of knowledgeable people. You wont regret giving them a shot.

I have a large older pit bull. He is pretty powerful looking. He is tolerable with the public but I can never be sure of the reaction of other nervous dogs in a crowded vets waiting room. But our worst experience was a teenaged vets assistant popping the exam door open and freaking out! Never again! Vic needed his shots and I was in a pickle until I saw the mobile vet van in my neighborhood. Capital Home Vet was a life saver for me and my dog. My plan was to continue the first exam in the van as long as the dog was agreeable. Vic loved the warm attention he got and all of his care was done in one visit. This is not any more expensive than a regular vet office visit and all the transport and public cares are gone. We are believers! Jan Bell

I was visited by Capital Home Veterinary because my fur baby is very skittish, pretty large and absolutely hates her carrier! So, this was the perfect solution for us. My baby had an ingrown nail that looked painful. She does not cooperate well when I clip her nails and I guess she got away from me before I clipped that one. Anyhow, the staff that visited my home were very professional and had experience with skittish cats. They took her into the van and weighed her, clipped her nails, gave her an exam and administered medication. All in about 15 minutes with no problems whatsoever! They also had medication for my baby on hand..no trip to pharmacy! The ladies were gentle and kind. I will reccomend Capital Home Veterinary to everyone!!

Dr. Dexter and her staff are amazing. Our all black GSD Colonel hated going to the vet but nice he met Dr. Dexter it was love at first sight...LOL he would see her and try to hide or run back in the house. Dr. Dexter saw Colonel through the good and the bad. They cried along with us as Colonel crossed over the rainbow on July 16 @5pmt. I can never say enough good things about Dr. Dexter her kindness, patience and love of animals is genuine. I would recommend Capital Vet. to everyone. To show how awesome Dr. Dexters practice is they made a donation to the VA Tech Veterinarian School and we will be making a matching gift in honor of the Capital Veterinarian.

Dr Dexter at Capital Home Veterinary was amazing with my elderly dog Zippy. Zippy hated to ride in the car, and as he aged taking him to the vet became stressful for Zippy and myself. Finding Dr. Dexter and her practice alleviated that stress for all of us. Zippy was more relaxed because he was able to be examined in the home. When we had to say goodbye to Zippy this past June Dr. Dexter was able to come to the house which allowed Zippy to go peacefully and painless in his favorite resting spot. Her care and compassion for our dog and family were second to none and we will continue to use her for our future veterinary needs.

Dr. Dexter and her team absolutely get 5 stars from me. I love Dr. Dexters no-nonsense approach to pet care and Im impressed at how quickly they schedule appointments and come to my home. Dr. Dexter has been my trusted veterinarian for the past 4 or 5 years. Before that, I took my cats and dogs to a regular office veterinarian and struggled with my dogs pulling and my cats howling. With 3 children, I really appreciate that Dr. Dexter comes to my home (for about the same cost as the office-type of vet). Plus, I just really like her.

My Boxer, Bella is a high energy, excitable, sweet girl and a terror in the vet office. She reminds me of my 4yr old grandson who can not sit still. I am so grateful when Dr Dexter and Katie drive up to my house with the vet mobile. The convenience is important but most impressive is their professional and compassionate time spent with the dog as well as me. This is not an inexpensive experience but one I will opt for every time Bella needs the expertise of Dr Erin Dexter and my peace of mind for reliable vet care..
