I cannot say enough good things about Dr. G and the wonderful staff here at the hospital. If you own ferrets, you understand medical knowledge of them in Rochester is limited at best - and most often times its guessing and speculation as to effective treatment. That is not the case here - Dr. G and Dr. Scarpulla are not only extremely well educated, but also go out of their way to continuously study ferret health and the latest treatments available for them. I cant stress how amazing it is to have office staff who know you by name, pet, and even voice over the phone. They know exactly whats going on with your pet without having to access records, and will remember everything about you each time you see them. I have never been on hold for more than 30 seconds, and have always had the best interaction with all of them. They really get to know you here, and are long term staff - not constantly rotating interns or clerical. Aside from the immense knowledge of the doctors, they are the reason I will never be leaving this office. Other vets in the area have misdiagnosed and even killed our ferrets with lethal doses of medicine - however thanks to Dr G and staff we have enjoyed several more years with our little guys with proper treatment. That alone is something we can never repay them for.

Ive taken my dogs to South Towne Vet for several years. The both doctors are very nice & caring people. At the same time, when it comes to making medical decisions, it was always "up to me" when I asked for a professional opinion. Also, in one occasion, when my dog needed a surgery, I was given information that was inconsistent with what I found from my research (and confirmed later with a vet elsewhere...who had many experiences with the procedure and was lot more knowledgeable). I didnt think of their price too high while I used their service but found out they are much pricier. The surgery was twice as much as what the other vet (who was highly recommended by several people for the services and skills...so it wasnt just being cheap) offered & completed; ultrasound is more expensive than a local emergency vet hospital. So, like I said before, they are very nice people...but I cant quite recommend the place.

My family has been using South Towne since we moved to Rochester in 1963. Although the personnel have changed over the years, the standard of care has remained high. I credit Dr. Gshrey and the staff for adding at least two more quality years to the life of my beloved Dalmatian (congestive heart failure, nerve degeneration, and blindness), and when the end came the service we received was caring and compassionate. Last year we adopted a mixed breed puppy with "special needs" and some medical issues. The outstanding care has helped us (and her) overcome those challenges. Dr. G is careful to explain the medical issues, and to offer alternatives. Of course, in the end, it is up to the pet-owner to make the decision based on the information and what they can afford. I would (and have) highly recommend South Towne Veterinary Hospital.

My 1 yr old dwarf hamster had severely broken a tooth and had an irritated eye and Dr. Scarpulla knew exactly what to do. Very reasonably priced especially for a small exotic pet, extremely caring, and made me feel confident leaving my first pet in their experienced hands. The teeth clipping and inspection of my hamsters mouth required anesthesia. I was talked through the entire procedure and every care that would be taken to ensure a successful surgery since anesthesia on a small pet is very risky. An ointment was prescribed for the eye, and a follow-up appointment made to evaluate the growth of the recovering tooth. I cant thank them enough for their expert care and the warm friendly environment!

Let me start by saying if I could give this animal hospital a 100 stars I would!! My family and I have been a clients at South towne for 20+years. I will never take any of my pets to anyone else! The staff and veterinarians that care for my dogs are truly the best out there! They ALWAYS treat me with the utmost respect, and I know when I take my dogs in for simple vaccines or a more complicated issue, that they are the most important pet in that room!! My dogs are given the full attention of the vet and are in excellent hands. Dr. Gschrey is a brilliant veterinarian with a wealth of knowledge!! I feel very fortunate that my dogs are cared for by the very best!!!

the most caring and compassionate vets and staff. i had to euthanize 2 pets within 4 months. i was a total basket case,crying so hard i couldnt see. every person in the office was so consoling to me. they even mailed me condolence cards hand signed by everyone who works there. all of the vets are great. dr. g. is my favorite. i wont take my pets anywhere else.

I have only gone for one visit so far, but the South Towne Vet Hospital staff was really great. I brought in my cat Romeo whom I had just adopted from the Rochester Animal Shelter, and they didnt charge for anything but a fecal test for worms. The main entrance is on the side of the building, and there is additional parking in the back.

Just started bringing my cat here. I dont have any places to compare prices to, but they were great at handling my cat and following up with treatments. I came across other customers who had been going there for a long time and are still satisfied. Definitely taking my cat back there for future visits.

We followed Dr. Tolchin here - the staff are fabulous. One person worked hard to accommodate our need for an unusually-scheduled appointment, for our first visit. everyone is warm and friendly. Highly recommend. And of course Dr. Tolchin is fabulous.

My childhood dogs were treated at this hospital, and when I got my first dog on my own I knew that I had to check them out again. Their bedside manner, kindness, and thoroughness cant be beat. My furbaby and I cant recommend them enough!

I loved this place. My ferrets and dogs went to this place all the time when needed. I highly recommended Dr Edward to take care of your pets. He is the best. I wish there is somebody like him in the city where i am currently living in.
