We brought our two cats in after finding worms in their litter. While the doctor was very professional, he has a huge focus on sales. In the time we were there, he tried to sell us pet insurance and very over priced flea collars at $100 a piece that are available at pet stores for $10-$15. Upon our departure he said our total would be $430 which seemed awfully high to me. I asked for an itemized INVOICE so I can see where these charges came from. He assured me I would get one, he came back with an itemized RECEIPT showing that we were charged the full amount. Upon further inspection I found that we were charged a total of $180 for provender dewormer (3 med sized, 1 small)!! If you look up this medicine at 1-800-Pet-Meds, it only cost !!! I asked to be refunded for the second treatment we were supposed to apply in 3 weeks and he then tried to charge me a restocking fee! This place is a complete ripoff with meds and products with a doctor that is willing to take advantage of people who love their cats.

What an absolutely incredible hospital. Dr. Nanton is kind, patient, careful, and incredibly knowledgeable. Our cat has been suffering with a mystery ailment, and in less than an hours time, Dr. Nanton had analyzed the situation critically and devised a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plan. He takes care to know absolutely everything, and is attentive to a clients every word. Additionally, Dr. Nantons support staff is exceptional. Suanne is one of the kindest technicians we have ever met, and she shows genuine care, not just for cats, but for clients, too. She did a wonderful job making us feel right at home and comfortable even during a rather stressful situation. If youre debating whether or not you want to visit this hospital with your cat -- dont. We drove more than a hour for our appointment, and I would have gladly traveled double that for such fine care.

Initially I liked the doctor and the staff, but when I took my cats home after a few hours at the hospital, they both had fleas. I left a message and an email with the office for our test results and the fleas, after not getting a call back we called them again, they explained that they simply did not do one of the tests they were supposed to, in addition they tried to say that they didnt get fleas from the office, and even if they did it is still our fault. I guess he has plenty of patients because when we told him that we couldnt being our cats to a hospital that does nothing to prevent fleas he told us to go somewhere else. I was also injured at the hospital because the doctor didnt want to sedate my cat, I tried to help hold the cat down when one of the aids let go, resulting in my arm getting seriously scratched up. Getting my paperwork and never coming back!

Dr. Nanton is without a doubt the best and the most caring cat veterinarian on Long Island. My best friend, a cat of over 20+ years of age, was originally being taken to another vet in Hauppauge. Near the end of his life, he was in a lot of pain and had a few problems, that this other vet basically just disregarded and let my poor buddy suffer. So I researched out Dr. Nanton. In just 1 visit to Brookhaven, my cat came home a different animal. Dr. Nanton was able to identify the problems correctly and give him what he needed to be able to live out his last few years peacefully and pain free. I absolutely refuse to take my cats anywhere else now. If you actually love your cats and want the best treatment for them, youd be crazy to take them anywhere else but Brookhaven Cat Hospital. Thank you Dr. Nanton, youre the best!!!

I really love that this is a vet specialized for cats. So many vets are focused on dogs, that its nice to have a vet that loves cats. In fact, as much as we spoil our cat with gourmet cat food and many cuddles, he is an indoor/outdoor cat and Dr. Nanton frowns upon that, reminding us that it can be dangerous for the cat to go outside. His vet assistant also spends lots of time petting and loving our cat, often to the point where I have to ask to get on with the exam. Dr. Nanton does try to sell certain services, but I think all vets these do that these days. I just say no. But he spends a lot of time with my cat and explains to me everything that he is doing and about any health issues that my cat might have or things I need to look out for. I would highly recommend this vet for your spoiled cat.

We have unfortunately had to move and travel around a good bit over the past several years, so were always looking for a new vet. Well we will be very sad when we have to move away from this area because Brookhaven Cat Hospital is without a doubt the absolute best veterinary office weve ever taken our cat to. They are knowledgeable and professional but also extremely warm and friendly. They really understand cats and they take an owners concerns seriously. Our little gal had a very serious and mysterious issue that needed to be fixed quickly, and Dr. Nanton did not waste any time figuring out what was wrong and treating her right away. I dont think its hyperbolic to say he probably saved her life.

Anyone who lives within a few hours drive of Brookhaven Cat Hospital would be well advised to choose BCH as the care provider for their beloved felines. I can vouch for the competent and concerned treatment that the patients receive at this hospital. Although I live in a state that is 2,000 miles away, I have been able to consult Dr. B. A. Nanton by phone for a second opinion. Upon my request, he communicated with my pets vet, who kindly shared records with him. I could not be happier with the prompt and detailed attention with which Dr. Nanton approached the issue. I invite you to visit BCHs website where you will see state-of-the art facilities and friendly faces. Thank you, Brookhaven Cat Hospital.

Weve been going to Brookhaven Cat Hospital since our new kitten arrived, almost 3 years, and Dr. Nanton is patient with my growling kitten (not a big fan of the vets office) and always listens to all of our concerns. I also like that he only sees felines, so my kitten doesnt have to sit in a waiting room with dogs, birds, turtles, etc. Theyre also in the modern world, unlike some other vets, and have a very user friendly online system for appointments, prescriptions and questions, making all my trips very easy. Their staff has also always been fantastic! Theyre just as patient and friendly and so accommodating. The office hours are convenient and we never had a long wait.

I am so thankful I finally found BCH. After experiencing a number of other veterinarians (both in NYC and on Long Island) who either had zero bedside manner or were trying to sell unneeded products I was at my wits end. I found BCH on line and thought I would take a chance. Dr. Nanton and his team are wonderful. They treated my cat and myself with respect, kindness and patience. Not only was Brucie given a careful and very thorough exam, Dr. Nanton explained what the test results meant and listened to my questions and concerns. I am relieved that we are now in caring and professional hands.
